Epic Games Store Free Games List – Current and Upcoming

Want some free games? Then head right over to the Epic Games Store, because the digital distribution platform is giving away free games to keep if you can claim them in time.

All Free Games on the Epic Games Store

Every week, the Epic Games Store gives away at least one free game. And we’re not talking about titles that didn’t sell or are infamously bad. The store has given away everything from little indie games to AAA titles, and all you need to claim them is a free Epic Games Store account. You don’t even have to download the launcher until you want to play them – you can claim them through their respective web pages.

So, what’s on offer right now? There’s one game available for free on the Epic Games Store right now. It’s yours to keep if you claim it now:

Circus Electrique May 9 – May 16

A man, in Circus Electrique, holding a pocket watch and looking up at a blue mechanical bear.

Developer: Zen Studios

Publisher: Saber Interactive

Developed by Zen Studios (yes, the pinball people) – Circus Electrique advertises itself as “part story-driven RPG, part tactics, part circus management”. Or as we put it back in 2022, “Darkest Dungeon in Steampunk Victorian London”, albeit with slightly less misery. It’s had a mixed reception, but if you’re a fan of DD and its ilk, it could be worth playing. After all, it’s free.

From May 9 – May 16, Epic is also offering free content for idle clicker Firestone, including a Talia the Wild skin. There’s ‘over $100’ of in-game items offer, though the game itself is free anyway. But Epic is advertising it in the same space it uses for its weekly freebies, so they must think it’s a big deal.

Upcoming Free Games on the Epic Games Store

So, what else is on the way? There’s another game dropping next week, so be sure to snap it up when it arrives. Here’s what’s on offer next week:

Mystery Game – May 16 to May 23

Wait.. what? Yes, it’s a complete mystery. The game unlocks in under a week but Epic Games Store has yet to reveal just what it is. They may reveal it closer to the time, and we’ll update this article if they do, but so far it’s … well, a mystery. Epic has given away some pretty major titles away in the past, Death Stranding included, so I wouldn’t rule anything out.

How to Get Free Games from the Epic Games Store

If you want to claim these free games, or any of the other free games on offer, it’s a pretty simple process. Here’s how to go about it.

  1. First, create an Epic Games Store account if you’ve not already got one. You can do that on the Epic Games Store website or by downloading the Epic Games Store launcher from the site.
  2. Now go to the web store or launcher and go down to Free Games.
  3. Click on the game you want, and you should see a big blue button that says Get. If it says Buy Now you’re on the wrong page or too late or too early for the giveaway.
  4. Click on Get, go through with the checkout (you won’t be charged) and the game is yours to keep.

You’ll have to install the EGS launcher to play them but you can happily claim them without the launcher, and install the launcher later, if you go via the EGS web store.

Other Free-to-Play Games on the Epic Games Store

Aside from these weekly giveaways, there are plenty of free-to-play games on the Epic Games Store. You can find these by clicking ‘View More’ next to Free Games. These may contain microtransactions or some other live service element. But if you’re looking for something to play that won’t cost you a penny, why not dive in?
