Welp ProJared's career on the internet is now forever destroyed.

Everyones childhood heroes are rapists and pedophiles.

God, I hope YouTube personalities aren't anyone's childhood heroes.

For some, there are a couple out their. Me, I never saw them as heroes, but fun entertainers, but changed as the years went on and most of them got egotistical or up their own ass. I.E Doug Walker and Spoony. The only ones that I care for are Bennett (who I disliked in the beginning) and Linkara. That, there were many times where they had no idea what they were talking about when it came to certain subjects, yet acted like they're the smartest in the room. I don't care what anyone says, nothing is immune to criticism, but Doug Walker, especially really acted like he wasn't. The horror stories from the site, while definitely horrifying, relieved somewhat that I had stopped watching the channel altogether by 2012.

Strenuous dissent.

So let me get this straight ... he had a very beautiful wife, who's really into gaming and cosplaying. He cheats on her ...
The amount of salt and anger I hold for him is almost infinite. You're bloody lucky to of found such a beautiful, caring wife with hobbies that are a nerd's dream and you CHEAT ON HER?? For months?!

That's not including the photos and sick shit he's done too ... figures. I hope she finds someone to treat her wwwaaaay better than Jared ever did. My question is- how did they end up together? Not dissing on how Jared looks, but look at his wife than at him.

Just, how?

Aren't you answering your own question?

As someone who didn't have women beating down the door when he was younger, but suddenly being considered attractive when he got older... Yeah, there was a beginning where I ate up the attention.

Well, as much as I could. I still had crippling doubt that I was misreading everything, but it felt like a hit of a drug every time someone new said I was attractive.

The guy looks like a part of my own high school DnD club. And women are now throwing themselves at him. Things that all us geeks wanted at one point in time. Some people will be like me and like the attention but instinctively distrust it... and some people will be like Jared and get while the getting is good.

Incidentally, usually 'getting' will make getting no longer good in the long run. It will always get messed up some how.

So if ProJared was more attractive it would of been less of an issue. And if his girl was an uggo and the new girl was hot you would of gave it a pass? I am messing with you I don't think your bad person its just the attractive arguments of it make it seem like he broke his rank and place in a metaphorical totem and not just be a piece shit and if his "rank" was higher it would of been more accept.

But I mostly agree with ObsidianJones classic case of cracking under the pressure of getting positive attention from the opposite that was foreign to you for the longest.

Well, I mean...do you know what their relationship was like? Do you know what she's like to live with as a person? What he wants out of it? What she wants?

Not saying that cheating on her wasn't a shitty thing to do. If you find someone else, end it first, but all that is some pretty damn superficial shit to base a marriage on. I'm probably being quite reductive to your argument here(if indeed you were even making one), but it seems like you're saying "she's beautiful and likes nerd things, how on earth could it fail, how could he not be happy with that?"

The dick pics and soliciting nudes from underage girls are what I'd be worried about. The relationship stuff? Welcome to life. Next on the news, man eats breakfast in morning.

From his Kinect video, I'd dare to say it was his dancing moves. Not a lot of people can actually look as cool as him while playing Dance Central. There is a reason "looks can be deceiving" is a thing.

I wonder if Nickelodeon will air reruns of that one episode of that random show he was on.

Bacon sandwich. PR disaster.

Ok, anything he did would have become a PR disaster, and there's more to be said about the role of the media (especially with obvious intent to pick the winner) in democracy then about bacon sandwiches in particular.

Could only have been worse if it had been vegetarian bacon - that'd really fire up the Daily Mail hate machine. (And, to be honest, vegetarian bacon isn't very nice compared to the other meat substitute options.)

Good god that's dumb. I thought for sure you were joking until I looked it up. This is the world we live in? Where political leaders are picked based on how elegantly they can eat their lunch? How is democracy supposed to produce competent leaders when crap like this factors into elections?

I'm sure you could make almost anybody look undignified while eating if you kept a camera on them the whole time.

Apparently it's a reason a lot of famous people don't eat in public -- still shots of someone eating always look bad, whereas we don't notice it when they're in motion.

This might be the most "nice-guy" thing I've read on the internet. And I frequent r/NiceGuys whenever I need a laugh.

Are you suggesting that it would be acceptable if ProJared was attractive? Or if she was ugly? And that Jared is unworthy based on looks alone (rather than, y'know, being a massive piece of shit). Or for that matter, that her value stems from her looks and interests alone?

I doubt it. As many people above have mentioned, your comment seems more misguided than anything else. In answer to your question though, everything you've talked about is superficial. It says nothing about who she is as a human being. Nor does it say anything about Jared as a person.

On the subject of cheating, that's because, contrary to the r/NiceGuy school of thought, cheating is something people have in their personality. It's not some dark temptation everyone has to face; either you are capable of cheating or you aren't, simple as that. I'm not saying that it's a permanent personality flaw, people can learn not to be terrible, but it's just not something everybody struggles with. The myth of the flirty Chad/seductive femme fatale leading someone astray is both untrue and sexist no matter which way you cut it.

Sorry about the rant, I have to deal with nice-guy types more often then I'd like to. I guess what I'm trying to say is that Jared cheated because he's a piece of shit. His wife's attractiveness and hobbies had nothing to do with it. He cheated because he thought he could get away with it and because he thought it was okay. As for how they ended up together...I dunno. Some mutual interest probably. Most people above the age of 16 don't base their relationships on looks alone, so it isn't that.

Look I gave Frappe a bit of flack for his view but man you went 180 in the opposite. This point of view of attractive people getting a pass or assumed to be good is a universal trait. I would personally would put this under the Halo effect than some "nice guy" nonsense.

To limit to "nice guys" is reductive as hell and your view of your a cheating has an air of absolutism that is equally flawed train of thought. I personally would not trust anyone spouting you are a cheater or your not.

Red Sentinel:

Replying to everyone else here with invisible quotes:

It is true that I do not know his wife personally, how her personality is, if she treated him right (if at all), ect. But with the given story, her twitter feed, and how ProJared reacted ... it seems like he just cheated on her because the dude was greedy for hot seconds. She seemed to of really cared about their relationship, thus the betrayal left her enraged (I mean who could blame her?) so yea ..

As for my views? I do apologize if it came off as, how do I put it? Distasteful? I personally still believe looks play a big part in human society. I've seen, met, and have witnessed many couples whom have one beautiful person, as the other is mediocre or worse. A lot of them I came to find out, are due to their status in society as what jobs they have (the less attractive person usually having a really good profession). This doesn't mean i'm disgusted by it or hate that fact. Everyone to me has value in life, and I wouldn't treat them any different for how they look. It's just reality that, for the most part- people want to be with other good looking people unless that individual ends up having power, popularity, or something they find very fitting.

I'm not the best looking guy myself- yet I get told otherwise. Even though I don't think ProJared is that great looking, he isn't ugly to me either and from seeing his videos / playthroughs, I can see why a girl would be attracted to him for his career & status in society.

............ SO it really angers me when he's got a girl that's not only great looking, but is into nerd culture and decides to cheat on her. So many guys like me would just love that chance to meet a girl like that- but oh well. With that said, it's just my opinion and I can understand why some people would have a problem with it.

He basically shows proof that one of the people who said he solicited nudes from them when they were underage and knew that they were underage was a psychotic who had sustained head trauma and had no memories during part of his supposed interaction with Jared while the other person was asked about her age and lied to him that she was over 18 (but lied on twitter, claiming she was never asked her age at all). These two things are more than half the video and he shows tons of text logs and other sort of proof so it's pretty definitive.

Then the rest of it is about how he was divorcing anyways when he had that affair with that cosplayer so people shouldn't be blaming her for his divorce and so on.

Nah what he said was that everyone is against cancel culture until they get a chance to cancel someone. I don't think he ever said anything like that about his wife in the video.

Dreiko:
He basically shows proof

I'm not sure I'd call that "proof". Proof suggests 100% (or very close to 100%, "beyond reasonable doubt", etc.)

Are these logs genuine? Do they have full context, are unbiased, etc.? Essentially, this is like listening to the prosecution set out their case in court without hearing the defence. You wouldn't call that proof.

Well, they have a whole more of that going on than what the accusations did so if they were so reliable to warrant the reaction had here, this proof should proportionally be multiple times more reliable than that and cause that much of an effect as well.

Basically, this is the first attempt anyone has ever done at introducing fuller context and unedited logs into this situation.

How do we know they're unedited? Even if unedited, how reliable (i.e. what's true and what's not in what was said) are they?

Protesting he did nothing illegal doesn't mean he isn't a creep, either.

Like I explained already, you can't keep a different standard. We have to use the standard that was applied when the accusations caused an effect to occur when undoing this effect, and that standard was much lower than what is being met here.

And I never broached whether or not he's a "creep" (primarily because that's an utterly arbitrary definition that varies from person to person based on their personal values/morals). He admits part of what made people feel uncomfortable but being some kinky dude who dresses up as sailor mercury shouldn't be a life-ending affair in a free society lol.

Around 40:45 he does. And, I think he has it the wrong way around based on my own observation: everyone loves "cancel culture" until they, or someone they're a fan of, gets "canceled". Then it's "oh internet outrage culture is bad/we need to have a conversation about online toxicity and harassment". Look, I didn't know who this Jared guy was until May, frankly didn't give enough of a damn to give it a second thought until now because it's he said/she said e-celeb drama over a bad breakup, and more likely than not will continue to not give a damn.

Although, I will ask this: how is one expected to defend themselves against bad faith, false, or falsified allegations of misconduct, if the mere act of defending oneself is considered tantamount to inciting harassment in and of itself, even if/when the defendant urges their audience to not engage in toxic behavior?

Dreiko:

Who's "you" here?

From my perspective, he's a z-list e-nobody I'd never heard of until this thread. Allegations were made against him, and he denies the worst of it, which as far as I'm concerned means he's still pretty pathetic even if he's not been soliciting child porn.

I think cheating on your wife and using your fame to get naked pics from your internet followers, etc. meets most people's definition of creep.

Locking this thread as this is an ongoing legal case, as mentioned by Projared in his video, that we do not need to be adding speculation to here, nor commenting on "should be" private relationships.
