My theories on One Piece's possible endgame and climax. (SPOILERS ABOUND)

So I have been watching all of One Piece and I have just finished the Fishman Island Saga.

Though I am already familiar with the Sagas and Arcs that came afterward. And so far I am starting to see the hints and clues of the Meta Plot of this entire story starting to connect. Like what happened in the Void Century, and who is this "Im", the latter is my craziest theory. So here's my theories:

1. The World that once was in the Void Century was destroyed in a Wind Waker-like scenario that resulted in the flooding of the entire world, most likely caused by the 3 Superweapons Pluton, Poseidon, and Uranus in some ancient war between 2 civilizations, the winner and survivors ended up creating the World Government as we know it. Fishman Island showcased this massive Ark they call the Noah which makes my theory that world was indeed flooded leaving behind a Wind-Waker like world with nothing but islands in a way too big Ocean World.

2. The Superweapons are not a literal big gun or machine that can fire or anything, but people with powers, Fishman Island has already revealed one of the weapons, being the Mermaid Princess Shirahoshi, who has the power to command Sea Kings, Titanic Monsters of the Deeps that dominates whole portions of the Oceans. And this is where my crazier theories appear but essentially Luffy and Blackbeard are either Pluton and Uranus themselves. Because in the Reverie Arc where we see this "Im", pretty much the King of the World, he has these photos of 4 different people, Shirahoshi, Luffy, Blackbeard, and Vivi. Excluding Vivi, the 3 photos were in a pile on the floor, this tells me that there is a kind of connection between the 3 charcaters and since Shirahoshi is revealed to be Poseidon, then mabye some how Luffy and Blackbeard are also Pluton and Uranus. But that's the only thing I have going for it since I don't know other evidence as to why and it probably contridicts my next craizer theory.

3. "Im" is Luffy's Biological Twin Brother. Yeah I said it and its because of 3 reasons:

Reason 1. The Gigantic Refrigerated Straw Hat he possesses.

Reason 2. The mystery behind who is Luffy's Mother and Monkey D. Dragon's Past. Because Who and where is Luffy's Mom in all this? Is it a situation where she died and this caused Dragon to form his revolution? Or is she somehow one of the highest possible figures of the World Government, and she somehow raised this "Im" to be crowned King of the World.

Reason 3. This is the most solid one imo and that is Madam Shirley's Prophecy that Luffy will destroy Fishman Island. This goes back to the photos that Im has, one of them being Princess Shirahoshi, whose photo was pierced with a dagger, signifying that Im wants her dead. I believe that Fishman Island will be destroyed by him personally and the people will think it is Luffy because he looks so much like him and this will probably happen after Wano or the next big Arc which I think will be Elbaf, the Land of Giants.

My last theory is bit of a footnote but basically Luffy will eventually become a True Yonko/Emperor and Shanks will form an Alliance with him, the only time where 2 Emperors joined forces and in the world of One Piece this is a big deal. Shanks joins because he has no ambitions of becoming the Pirate King anymore since it was forfeited when he gave his hat to Luffy, which was Gold Roger's hat to begin with.

Fuck that and eh.....I don't know where to begin.

1) I find unlikely but possible. I doubt the world of one piece was unflooded and then became flooded. Oda is incredibly good at finer details, and if there was a now flooded world under the water like Windwaker has, there's be evidence on the sea floor and the fishmen would all know about it. Also, the Ark was designed to be pulled by sea kings, which would be a bit questionable if the world wasn't already full of sea.

But, what I might buy is the idea that the void century involved a reformed the world in a different way: creating the Red Line. The void century involved a bunch of countries leaders physically coming together, which is a perilous journey even 800 years later. They created the only known settlement on the entire red line, which is fairly odd that nobody else had settled on what's effectively the only continent on the planet. Which once again, Oda is all about really detailed worldbuilding, he wouldn't accidentally create a piece of land with video game-esque lack of population just because he didn't know what to put there. The abandonment of the Red Line is deliberate, the only question is whether that is actual plot or just symbolism.

2) Pluton is a battleship. Uranus we know nothing about, but Pluton we've seen the blueprints for. Not that we've seen what's in the blueprints, but we've seen the paper and had capable shipwrights verify the absurdity of it. The Water 7 arc was built very heavily around that, I don't think that concept of Pluton would be retcon'd to make room for two more people to be weapons. Maybe, the "Will of D" could be the third, as of yet unknown, ancient weapon, and Luffy and Blackbeard have to clash of who gets to be Shadow the Hedgehog the ultimate lifeform, but neither will be Pluton, that's already a known quanitity.

3) I don't think any of your reasons to believe this hold up. The Straw Hat has nothing to do with Luffy's biological lineage, all other characters related to the Straw Hat have been related by their character traits, not by their blood. Luffy's mom is a great mystery that I think we'll get an answer to, and I would buy the idea of her being a celestial dragon, which would be a dramatic reveal worth holding back until a major conflict with the whole world government, and potentially her being a dead celestial dragon could be a personal motivation for Monkey D Dragon to lead the revolution. And if all that's a true scenario, I could see merit to your theory of their being a blood relationship between Luffy and Im, but it's not brother. Doflamingo is supposed to be privy to the secrets of the World Government and left Mariejois before Luffy was even born. If anything, it would likely be more like the Zuko "you have two important grandfathers" plot point. Cause I think Im is very old. There are very many parallels between One Piece and Skies of Arcadia, one might suspect the writers for those have talked to each other, and the secret world rulers of that lived unnaturally long lives in space, the Celestial Dragons have a space suit theme going, I suspect Im has been in charge for 900 years. And "evil twin who rules the world role plays as Luffy to mess with people" is probably the lamest way I can imagine Luffy destroying Fishman Island. Going back to the "world government created Red Line to isolate those who would rise against" theory above, the best way to resolve Luffy destroying Fishman Island would be Luffy actually destroying the Red Line entirely (maybe with the ancient weapons), and Fishman Island is unfortunately beneath the Red Line.

I've always wanted to watch One Piece but I'm kinda scared because theres so many episodes I might just like get hooked and try to marathon it with no end in sight and fuck up my life for a month lol.

Never seen a single episode but it's an anime so wild guess: power of friendship kills God and protagonist transcends space-time.

Basically what tstorm said, but I would also point out that Luffy's mother isn't so much a mystery as she is unmentioned. Something being unknown in a story does not in itself make it a mystery of any significance. Take Ace's mother as a case in point. Unknown up until chapter 550, but her identity was just that: unknown, not a mystery. Hell, Ace's father was less a mystery than he was simply a twist. These were not things that the story teased at and made a point of hiding to make the discovery impactful, they simply weren't given any focus. There's an appreciable difference between the two.

To catch up on One Piece in a month, you'd have to watch 10+ hours a day. I feel like that might actually kill a person.

Strong agree. Mystery was not a good phrasing, opportunity is what it is, particularly an opportunity to flesh out Dragon. But you're right, it's just not been mentioned, and it never has to be if it isn't relevant.

Quite possible. In any case, something big happened.

I really don't think this is going to happen. Luffy and Blackbeard are merely shown there, because they're rattling the balance and order the Marines and World Government are trying to have. Vivi is there probably either because of her connection with the Straw Hats or because they have a poneglyph with information about Pluton.

3. "Im" is Luffy's Biological Twin Brother. Yeah I said it and its because of 3 reasons:

Reason 1. The Gigantic Refrigerated Straw Hat he possesses.

Question, by what logic you assume that Im is related to Luffy? Because he has giant straw hat? That doesn't really make sense. Roger had a straw hat as did Shanks. Why couldn't Im be related to them? I personally don't think Im is related to any of them. My reason being that it sounds boring and cliched.

I'm more interested why there even is a giant SH and why is it frozen? For preservation or something else?

Maybe we'll hear about Luffy's mom. That, or we'll never hear of her. It's 50/50 really.

Reason 3. This is the most solid one imo and that is Madam Shirley's Prophecy that Luffy will destroy Fishman Island. I'm sorry, but sounds pretty boring. The villain looking like Luffy I mean. It sounds forced and lazy writing to be honest.
I think it goes something along the line of: Fishman Island has been occupied by some hostile force. To save the citizens Luffy (and friends) pretty much demolish the island, thereby saving them, but also forcing mer people to find a new home somewhere else where they can enjoy sunlight directly.

But Luffy wants to defeat Shanks. He wants to defeat all of the Yonko, but he wants to defeat Shanks last.

Please, keep on making threads about One Piece. I always enjoy reading them. :)

Watch One Pace. Condenses hundreds of episodes into a smaller amount and removes all the padding like opening recaps and commercial cuts.

To be fair even I thought the Im being Luffy's Twin brother is dumb until I saw Madam Shirley's Prophecy.

As to the Shanks thing, mabye Shanks will ally with him after Luffy defeats him.

I think Metal Gear Solid is the only one that pulled off the "evil twin" trope in an actually good way....

Oh yeah and there was Blood Plus.

1. The Red Line is indeed a big WTF thing in all of One Piece, an entire landmass that encircles the whole world. Its literally the ultimate Wall.

2. If anything it shows the Superweapons are not consistent. One of them is a machine, the other is a person with powers, so what the hell could be Uranus? The fact that they are saving it for last must mean it was the more important of the 3.

3.I would also subscribe to the idea that Im is ANCIENT. He was there during the Void Century or mabye even older then that. I would also go as far as to say that he is probably a Giant or at least can turn into one because in the Thriller Bark Arc the Straw Hats bore witness to this Massive Figure in the Seas with Glowing Red Eyes:

image

If not a Giant then I believe this was Im manifesting himself through whatever powers he has in that moment to look at the Straw Hat in this place. The key is that this thing has Red Eyes, and Im in the anime also has red eyes.

I don't know if you know anything about Skies of Arcadia, but there are a ton of parallels. For the most part, this is probably due to SoA drawing inspiration from OP rather than the other way around, as OP started a few years before SoA released. And most of the parallels are in the setting, which was pretty well established very early on. That being said, there are more recently plot parallels between the two that you can hardly say OP did first. The big one is the 5 elders considering "extinguishing a light from history". Skies of Arcadia spoilers: the biggest twist in SoA is the revelation that a giant cataclysm that had ended centuries of war by killing most of the world's population was deliberately enacted by a small group of people who acted as self-appointed judges of humanity, and the current events of Skies of Arcadia happen because they thought people were getting corrupt again and were considering doing it all over. The Void Century didn't seem like a great parallel until Im got introduced, and suddenly you have that structure of a few elders deciding to pass judgement on those whose existence they feel is a problem.

We'll know it's the same sort of situation if a) Im is ancient and has decided for himself who gets to live or die, and b) if he feels genuinely justified in doing so. In Skies of Arcadia, there genuinely was a huge, tragic war going on, and the elders used their mega-weapon to end that conflict once and for all. Then they sealed away the island they were from and the weapon with it (perhaps Raftel and Uranus), but the consequence of that sealing is that rifts formed across the skies (which are the sea in SoA) separating the continents from one another in much the same way the 4 seas are broken up in One Piece. So if the two stories really do match up, we're going to find out that the seas were once far more connected (All Blue?), and there was a mega conflict between civilizations, and then those who would found the World Government employed cataclysmic powers to both wipe out those civilizations and separate the world into isolated areas. And those who made that decision feel they are morally correct as they are disrupting an endless and escalating cycle of violence and hatred.

Skies of Arcadia is this old Dreamcast RPG that is seen as a Cult Classic.

I am guessing its Chrono Trigger level famous? A Great One Off RPG game?

Very likely yes. But with the way you have to navigate there, it's likely they couldn't get there again if they wanted to. It's also possible, if in fact Roger left his own treasure there and wasn't just enticing people to discover the secrets of the world, that he went there multiple times, including after the crew broke apart. That way, Buggy would be thinking "I was at Raftel, we didn't leave a treasure there."
