Infinity Train

Did anyone else watch this last week? It's the most interesting and fun cartoon we've had in awhile. I do hope the 2nd season will address who made the train and show us more stories on other passengers.

Somehow this feels like it should be the premise of a Point and Click Adventure Game. I'll check it out. The pilot was pretty good.

It does have a very video game feel to it. Each cart is its own world and usually has a puzzle to solve in order to get to the next cart. It's just 10 short episodes that can be watched in less than an hour.

I remember this. I didn't think they'd actually make a full series cause, you know, networks tend to ditch novel ideas.

Too busy with One Piece to get invested in another animated series regrettably.

And this one looks like a narrative series that will span seasons to reach its overall plot destination.

I saw it (...most of it anyway) and I really liked it. The train worlds are creative, the characters are memorable (Atticus is a good boi), and the story was surprisingly emotional. I'm curious to see where we go from here...

I can't make it through the trailer. I hear that bloody song Every Single Day at work, I refuse to listen to it in my spare time.

It won't give you an existential crisis, but it is pretty tear jerking at the end. It has a good ending.

It's so pretty and crazy, this is like new adventure time.

Oh look, it's that artstyle that every damn cartoon has now.

Casual Shinji:

Yeah, but it's still a good cartoon.

A quick summary/review (slight spoiler warning):

If they were smart, this could be turned into a good point and click game franchise.

Who's the voice actress? Sort of Ellen Page-ish.

Casual Shinji:

Yeah. Backgrounds are nice. Characters are functional I guess, probably more to do with practicality than vision.
....
Hmm, I wonder if this is going to be an analogy for the afterlife or a coma.
....
Hmm, that robot sounds like Stephen Merchant's character in Portal.
....
Yeah, think I'm going to like this. Thanks.

Ashley Johnson apparently, would be funny if you conflated her Ellen Pageness from her role as Ellie in The Last of Us, as people were saying that character looked a lot like her.

Didn't know it had been picked up, I did watch the pilot a while back, it was OK.

Just at a repair shop for oilfield equipment. The radio is on all the time, and they play the same songs every day. I was sick of every song they play two years ago.

Comparsion video between 2016 pilot and modern Infinity Train.

How does it have the same artstyle every cartoon has

This gives an overview of what I assume they're talking about.

"Generic art style", also sometimes called by people "calarts style" is term describing popular art style used in many cartoons lately. This style is characterized by rounded shapes, often "worm like" smile, simple lines and overall friendly look. Calarts style is mainly about heads of characters, because other parts look to vary between the shows. For example height and body shapes.

Okay, yes, that definitely tracks as somewhere that would be appropriate to play Crazy Train in the workplace.l

So, were you just being obtuse with your original question, trying to make a statement like "Well, not every cartoon looks like that!", or were you actually asking for examples of what parts look similar to other cartoons?

I mean, it's pretty obvious that he didn't mean that literally every cartoon has that same art style, but that it's an art style that is used a lot in the recent years.
