Weird sighting over Norway

Apparently, no, it is no shoop. Loads of people saw it.

Mildly curious. I think it's the beginning of a new Dante's Inferno ad, what about you?

That is awesome, I guess it was eh light from hundreds of years ago just reaching us now?(thats just a bad guess so don't go moaning at my lack of facts:P)

Looks like a black hole. Finally, my theory that Black Holes live in the center of the earth and are intelligent is true!

Serious now, what are the chances of this being a hologram?

Looks cool, If it's a combine invasion force then I'm going to be pissed.

I just spent 20K on school man, what good is a four year education going to be to a resistnace memeber?

I don't even know what a hologram is. I thought it's something Duke Nukem and Arnold Schwarzenegger use to confuse bad guys.

I don't know much (anything) about space science, but maybe it's light from something that exploded in space thousands of years ago and the light has only just reached us due to the distance, and because it was night time and Norway happened to be in the right place at the right time, it shone rather visibly.

Other than that crackpot theory, I'm out of ideas.

WEATHER BALLOON!

I don't know, is it April 1st? That shit looks awfully photoshopped to me.

But then again, there is no stoppin' the ufo nuts once they get a load of this.

It was moving if I understood correctly. And a supernova THAT bright? We would all be dead. Doesn't look like any rocket I know either, unless it was made by Gandalf. I'm all out of ideas too...

Holography (from the Greek, ὅλος-hólos whole + γραφή-grafē writing, drawing) is a technique that allows the light scattered from an object to be recorded and later reconstructed so that it appears as if the object is in the same position relative to the recording medium as it was when recorded. The image changes as the position and orientation of the viewing system changes in exactly the same way as if the object were still present, thus making the recorded image (hologram) appear three dimensional.

The technique of holography can also be used to optically store, retrieve, and process information. While holography is commonly used to display static 3-D pictures, it is not yet possible to generate arbitrary scenes by a holographic volumetric display.

Supernovas generally look weird, but never THIS weird.

Dante's Inferno seems like a good idea with this. I would liek to see more videos on the event (ones that dont have caps lock on in their title prehaps)

Oh COME ON! I could do a better job than this is MS paint for god's sake.

image

That's really weird. I can't think of a single thing that could explain it either.

Relax....

It's just Russia testing it's new electromagntic weapon's.

But really the first one looked kinda fake to me but the secound one looked like a "wormhole" opening or a jumpgate. Could it be something I always hoped for...

A gate to the Lylat System?

It's Cthulu's entrance portal. We're all done for now.

Dude, it's no shoop. There are hundreds of pictures of it and videos and stuff, they all look like that.

depends, did you by chance study theoretical physics at MIT? more importantly, do you have the mystical ability to look good in orange?

How do you know the site isn't saying: "A bunch of people saw this"

Then another site see's whats on the first site, and so on.

It happens all the time, unless you personally know 2 separate people who saw this, you can't really say for sure it's not bullshit.

Okay, Interesting, though I'm not sure where to go with this or what to say....

so it's a light show.

a very awesome light show.

Yyyyyyeeeaa-NO.

Carnagath:
And a supernova THAT bright?

Just an F-Y-I, Kepler's supernova in 1987, that happened in a nearby galaxy, was easily visible with the naked eye. If a supernova happened within 100 light-years of earth, the gamma rays released would be enough to significantly deplete our ozone layer enough to kill potentially 50-60 percent of all currently known species on Earth from the aftereffects.

The first recorded supernova was around 180 AD by the Chinese, when a star suddenly outshone everything but the moon (a full moon at that) on the night sky.

Supernova are really visible if they happen anywhere nearby. As in, within this galaxy. But I doubt that was a supernova, lasted far too long and the blue light is just plain freaky. It might have been blue-shifted, but then it would be uniformly blue. Effects of the ionosphere apparently have already been discounted.

I'm mostly leaning towards a hoax or somesuch, but that is just guesswork. Far too little information is available to make an informed decision.

Oh yeah, and let's not forget the spiral.... "GIGA... DRILL... BREAKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRR"

This is proof of God.

It loves spirograph.

Maybe they should look for the source istead of squawking like hens?

The Russians "denied testing weapons at that time"
So just because they said that, it's the truth?

I don't know, the main image looks really computer generated, but the videos seem more realistic.

Clearly it's Norway's own Batman symbol. Just with a different superhero.

That is pretty awesome. And to think I wouldn't see this without visiting this site! And I live in Norway! Not in the north where you could see this, but anyway.

While it would be awesome if this was something really special, it is only a failed Russian missile launch. I know most of you cannot read Norwegian, but that is what it says. It was a so called "Bulava missile". So... nothing fun really.

It does look awesome though.

It looks horribly photoshopped to me...

Why has no-one realised that this is some prelude to an alien invasion.

It's a portal, the Vikings are returning!

Meh, who knows? Real strange.

I can't read Norwegian indeed, but that looks like a nuclear submarine to me dude. You should consider getting the hell outta there...

Aww man. And here I thought that aliens were making contact with us.

Besides, I thought the Russians denied any weapons tests took place. Of course, that's what they would do, I wouldn't expect them to say: "OOPS, our freaky ass organic spiral nuclear antimatter missile went rogue, haha, sorry guys".

Carnagath:
-snip-

Seeing how the article states how this is the seventh failure out of 12 tests, I don't think we have much to worry about.

Grayjack72:

Would be awesome, wouldn't it? Sadly, I don't see that happening in the foreseeable future.

Seems the reason why they denied it at first is because they are embarrassed over another failure. That is the reason why they aren't giving an official statement on the matter anyway. But the whole missile thing comes from a source in the Russian Army, so it is pretty certainly that.

Looks fake to me.

it is NOT a supernova. They would appear as a bright star.

In a video I saw (from a norvegian tv channel I think) I could easilly see the beam from the projector, so this is something projected on the sky from the ground.
