How to Complete the Faith-Leap Trial in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3)

Completing the Gauntlet of Shar in Baldur’s Gate 3 is no easy feat, with each new trial featuring a mechanic you’ll have to overcome. The Faith-Leap Trial is one of the trickiest, so here’s how you can complete and beat the challenge in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3) to get the Umbral Gem.

How to Beat the Faith-Leap Trial in BG3

Once you enter the chamber for the Faith-Leap Trial in BG3, you’ll have to sacrifice some blood at the altar to begin. Let Shadowheart be the one to do it if you’d like to earn some extra favor with her. Otherwise, you won’t have to fight anyone in the Faith-Leap Trial, so don’t worry too much about HP.

On entering, you’ll face a dark chamber with what seems to be a missing floor and only a handful of platforms. The trick is to figure out how to navigate the invisible path. Making things tougher is that there are touchpoints along the path that can spell instant death, so you’ll have to be very careful. Make sure to save often.

You’ll notice that, on the floor of the entrance to the room, there are a bunch of gold lines, which tell you where you can safely go. You can jump to make pretty short work of the Faith-Leap Trial in BG3, though, so here’s how to do that:

First, take your character with the best jumping distance and separate them from the rest of the party (see here if you need a reminder on how). Next, head to the right-hand set of stairs. From there, run out on the invisible path to about halfway between where you started and the platform in front of you, then leap from there to the platform.

From this platform, you’ll want to leap to the left, landing between the two platforms.

Now, make a diagonal leap forward and to the right side to land between the next two platforms.

From here, you’ll be able to jump to the central platform. Then, all you need to do is walk straight ahead until you’re halfway to the final platform.

Jump from this point to the final platform and claim the Umbral Gem. You can now activate the Umbral Transporter and get sent back out.

How to Pass the Faith-Leap Trial With Magic

Although that lays out how you can finish this segment of the Gauntlet of Shar without resorting to the arcane, you can also clear the Faith-Leap Trial in Baldur’s Gate 3 with a bit of magic. Fly will let you bypass the challenge pretty much entirely, while Dimension Door will let you just teleport across the room. You can also use Misty Step to bypass a lot of the walking and reduce your risk of making a mistake. It’s entirely possible you might not have any of those available, though.

That’s how you can complete the Faith-Leap Trial in Baldur’s Gate 3. It is one of the more annoying trials to get through, but it’s not so bad once you know where to go!

Gauntlet of Shar Trials in BG3

Here are all the Gauntlet of Shar Trials in BG3:

You will find one Umbral Gem after completing each trial, but you’ll need four gems total. The fourth can be found after dealing with Raphael’s old enemy, the Devil known as Yurgir. You will also have to complete the Silent Library puzzle later to obtain the Spear of Night.

How to Get to the Gauntlet of Shar

To reach the Gauntlet of Shar in Baldur’s Gate 3, navigate to the Thorm Mausoleum in the Shadow-Cursed Lands during Act 2.

Start at the Masons Guild, travel west, head northwest to Reithwin Town Waypoint, and find Arabella near the waypoint. Enter the Thorm Mausoleum after a cutscene, proceed north, turn left, and follow the path up the stairs.

Inside the Mausoleum, solve the painting puzzle to open a secret doorway, then select the Traversal Gem to be lowered into the Gauntlet of Shar.
