those games are all wank/not my cup of tea.
That's not Jim's fault, it's the industry and the fact people keep feeding this beast the idea we only want FPSs.
And that's the attitude that makes most the choices FPSs. You have to be willing to give these things a chance, especially if you already admitted it looked interesting.
I was already on board for Mass Attack and Aliens Infestation, but Scivelation has my interest now too. I played the demo of Hard Reset and wasn't super impressed. Well, I was with it's visuals being a strictly DX9 game that can run on the cheapest of video cards (which goes with the arguements from last week about cheap computers can make damn pretty games), but the gameplay was a little too dated. Lots of circle strafing and bullet sponging. Of course, I am psyched for Serious Sam for having some of those old FPS standards, just not a lot of the second one, bullet sponges. That's just irritating.
While those games are probably going to be good, most of them are still pretty mainstream for anyone who frequents this site.
"Painkiller with robots.... Ex People can fly/ Witcher 2 developers"
The Cursed Crusade looks really cool even though that description sounds terrible which Jim has already admitted to. And Scivelation sounds pretty damn awesome, so those two games I will be keeping an eye on.
Thank you god for Jim Sterling
Although it has no release date, I'd also like to bring to attention Sword Of The Stars II. Even though I'm not exactly a massive fan of RTS games, this one does look damn interesting.
You should see the ones he did before the escapist. Really great stuff.
There's just no pleasing you, is there? OT: Lots of interesting stuff coming out the next few months. Can't have all the big triple a titles steal all the spotlight from those neat little gems that rest in the rubble of bland mediocre gray and gray FPSs that so desperately want your attention that they jump right into your face and try to suffocate you with their terrible blandness.
FYI that game is DS. Repeat. NOT 3ds.
amazon had to tell me :( im surprised persona 2 wasnt mentioned. it might be popular, but itll be turned away because it dosent have social links despite the fact that its the best story in the persona series
Wonder what Jim thinks of Asura's wrath
How do you figure? According to the stats, it's most certainly not.
I watched this show before the loading ready run ep thats also up, where the world has gone too. It cannot be too dark probably.
/tricked. Your opinion is respected because it is your opinion with its own standards and not what game publishing companies deliver to you in a press briefing. Now, most of us gamers have that, but how you managed to get your own show is the mystery =p.
How can you say "thank God for me" if your an atheist? No disrespect.
I just realised how well played the "thank god for me" joke is, jim being an atheïst and all. If you don't get what I mean, go read your bible :D
Thanks a lot Jim for updating us about these titles. I'm particularly looking forward to the Aliens title, I love a game when (as realistically as possible) they break gaming convention, and Death means,,, well permenant non-respawn..
"Go ask your mom for money. Or steal it from her purse. ..It's videogames, people". Made me laugh. Sciv looked interesting, to say the least. I will play Hard Reset because it's fucking Dolph Lundgren. The rest..Eh..Don't care that much.
I have lost all respect for Jimbo now.. The background was tilted to one side.. THE MADNESS!
Aw, no Cave Story? Oh well, these look good too.
Uh, Cave Story has already been released... like 7 years ago.
I tried the Hard Reset demo and I immediately recommended it to all my shooter-fan friends. I'm not a huge fan of shooters myself though, but it looked good enough to be worth showing to people who I thought WOULD buy it.
Congrats your very first informative episode, ooh Serious Sam is over the top and with all seriousness the Aliens game look alright. Hard reset, thats got a damm good pedigree(sorry for quoting Yahtzee), People can fly+CD Projekt=what I actually think is the best devloper combo ever!
just before the 6 minute mark. you can hear a USB disconnect.
Oh jim, I feel so sorry. YOu have to actually be in Mississippi. THe only worse place you could be is Georgia (or maybe Alabama, that crimson tide cant be too healthy). EDIT: I guess I should say im kidding before a bunch of Rebs get all bent out of shape The aliens game sounds cool, and I enjoy the prospect of kirby, though I dont think they're going to open it up to a ten way multiplayer like Im picturing.
But but but. With so many other great games coming out, will I have the money for other untested games? I still have Uncharted 3, Arkham City, and The Old Republic on preorder. Okay, so I already paid off Uncharted 3 and Arkham City and I've paid half of TOR, but what if I wanna up some of those to the Collector's Editions? Seriously, some of those sound decent, but I'm not sure about paying for games that might not be good or polished enough. Though the Aliens game and Scivelation both look promising. So many choices.
Awww. You went and edited you post. Damn. I so wanted to bash you for that. If nothing else, we have Chick Fil A in the South. I feel sorry that you northern folks don't get to eat there whenever you want.
Im pretty sure yours are closed on Sundays too, and we have Chick Fil A in the north. Theres one in the mall I go to, one in a plaza not even like a mile or two down the road, and one in a plaza where we have a superwalmart thats like a ten minute drive from the one in the Westmoreland mall.
Oh? I was under the impression there were none in the northern U.S. Kinda like how there are no White Castles here (do have a similar place called Krytals). I do love that movie, though.
No we have CFAs. One opened up by the walmart and gave away chicken sandwiches for free and had this overnight line waiting for opening day. Though Ive never seen a white castle in my life, so I think thats more a mid west thing. We do have eat n parks where I live (PA) which are awesome.
Was this a recent expansion or was I grossly misinformed? I always wondered why there weren't franchises up north. ...I'm getting hungry.
I had heard about Last Crusade, but actually seeing what it's like for the first time definitely got me interested. I'm also now seriously thinking of buying 3DS just for Aliens: Infestation, at least if the reviews end up being positive. Lucky for me, Batman: AC and Dark Souls are the only big titles I'm going to bother buying on release this year.
you can try out the demo of hard reset. i read that people with weak systems could play the game very smoothly. @Scivelation
