Escape to the Movies: Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie Pages 1 2 3 4 5 NEXT
Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie MovieBob shows us the pros and cons of Tim and Eric's first attempt at a feature film.
Man I had competely forgotten about that show being made into a movie (yes I'm with the group who hate the show).
I took one look at the Movie Title for this week, and said to myself, "Oh God, this is going to hurt." Sadly, I was right. Don't get me wrong, I liked Tom Goes to the Mayor. It was wacky and oddball. Their current show, however, makes me want to scrub my eyes with bleach and baking soda.
Enjoy your ban. You've earned it. :-P
I'll put that on my pass list. Incidentally, they used The Lorax to sell an SUV? I sure hope the irony isn't lost on 'em.
I'm almost speechless, a Good review for the Tim and Eric Movie?
Coming from Adult Swim, it's not surprising Tim and Eric would find the box office to be a bit out of their league. And Bob, don't give up on humanity just yet.
you may wanna not just post 'first' mods don't like that 'round these parts. OT: well, know what movie I'm never going to see, i HATED 'Tom goes to the mayor' due to it boring the ever loving crap out of me, and i have little hope that this will do anything other then hurt my head
[quote="CronoT" post="6.352749.13991619"]I took one look at the Movie Title for this week, and said to myself, "Oh God, this is going to hurt." Sadly, I was right. Don't get me wrong, I liked Tom Goes to the Mayor. It was wacky and oddball. Their current show, however, makes me want to scrub my eyes with bleach and baking soda. Same goes for me. Along with most of their Live Action stuff, it's just not funny to me. Wasn't going to see this Movie, not going to see it now. Even though I didn't know it existed anyways. Can't wait for The Avengers though.
*facepalms* Sad thing is...I know the "FIRST!" poster personally. Oy... Tim and Eric's Awesome Show extended to a full length movie...hmmm... Well, it worked for South Park, so it MIGHT work for this one.
I've never even heard of this movie... Or these people for that matter. Edit:
Punch him when next you see him.
A review of the latest Avengers trailer would have been more interesting and relevant. I hope we get one in Intermission.
I suppose because Bob enjoys the previous material by these guys, plus his little plug at the fact that he's angry at the treatment of The Lorax (but really, The Lorax supporting SUVs? Irony??), is why he ended up delivering a review of this particular movie. Not to mention, I don't know what is screened for critics nowadays or not. That said, I was really looking forward to The Lorax. Or even talk about Project X. I don't even know who these guys are, and opening up with "not exactly universally funny/particular brand of comedy" doesn't make for a good sell. Oh well. See ya next week Bob!
I concur with everything you said. Though from Bobs description I'm pretty confident that I'd hate it. Also, really? "scatalogical humor"? talk about polishing a turd...
I loved Tom Goes to the Mayor, I thought it was funny and clever. The animations also really added to the overall humor of the show. Tom goes to the mayor took to absurdity of Tim and Eric but based it in real life places (namely a small town) it was funny because we could relate to it. But yes, super awesome show or whatever was a step backwards. I didn't find it funny at all, too over-the-top crazy and occasionally they went for the 'gross-out-gags'
Didn't even watch the review...I've sworn never to watch anything involving those to just horribly...indescribably stupid jackasses. Seriously though, I challenge anyone to accurately describe who/what their target audience is without saying "the types of freaks that get stuffed into lockers or perform school shootings" because those two are obvious.
Problem with that theory is that South Park is a show that's actually GOOD. Tim and Eric Sodomize Each Other for 11 Minutes - while having an obscenely long name - is a crime against man, nature, and God. Seriously, I can think of no more terrifying hell than having to watch a 90 minute long Tim and Eric episode.
Yeah, when Tom Blows the Mayor came out on Adult Swim, I knew we were headed for the downfall. Sure enough the follow that one up with the above mentioned Tim and Eric Sodomy Show followed by a long line of god-awful live action shows. Evidently they forgot that people don't want to see retards humping doorknobs, they want Sealab 2021, ATHF, Venture Bros., and Family Guy re-runs.
"I can't describe what makes Tim and Eric funny" followed immediately by an attempt to do so, and use really big words. I'll say it again, I think trying to deconstruct comedy in that way does it a big disservice.
This film was just the Americanized version of Kids in the hall's "Brain Candy". It to did... just as well? ***PS*** If you ever wondered what Wolverine VS Sasquatch would look like ... Here's one scenario
For the life of me I still don't get why they show shit like Tim and Eric, Children Hospital and the rest of the non-cartoon garbage they choose tho show on a network called CARTOON NETWORK. God I miss the good old days when half the night was American toons and the other half was anime.
Normally I'm willing to give any movie Bob's given at least a pass on a chance, seeing how our tastes appear to be fairly similar, but on this... Hell no. I've hated the tripe that T&E have put out for years, and my hate has been tempered by hearing that they cancelled the last season of Big O from coming to Adult Swim because it would have had a bigger budget than their shit.
You didn't review this week's site-sponsored release?
The attempt to justify and explain the comedy of these guys was really stretching it there. Almost as painful as the one episode I watched while waiting for my former roommate to get ready. Everyone is entitled to their own tastes, I suppose, but I just can't see the appeal.
Seriously...I have no fucking clue how Tim and Eric or any of the live action shows were renewed for more than 1 season, and yet shows like Sealab, Harvey Birdman, and Frisky Dingo got the chop. Needless to say, I stopped watching Adult Swim a lllooonnnggg time ago.
I love how everybody hates Tim and Eric, but can't articulate it. Tell me WHY you hate Tim and Eric. Don't just say "it sux lololol". I, for one, think Tim and Eric are fucking hilarious.
I hate those guys shows with such a burning passion. I find ATHF alot more to my liking but I find I pretty much hate most everything on Adult Swim now. I'm probably just too old for the target audience? I used to love like space ghost, toonami, harvey birdman, and athf...but shows like tim and eric and squidbillies make me just toon out. To the extent that I don't even turn on Adult swim anymore.
That was quite an eloquent way of saying "their Adult Swim shows didn't actually do anything and the characters just kinda say stuff".
Those two can't entertain me for a minute. How can they hope to do it for an hour and a half?
It's because "annoying" and "repulsive" are not synonyms for "comedy". Their show isn't funny. It's just irritating (the endless cheap editing tricks) and gross.
I think you are the only person to say that so far, I like them a lot too, these people take things way too fucking seriously. Tim and Eric are awesome.
I rarely watch anymore, I'm burned out on King of the Hill and Family Guy re-runs to the point that I can't enjoy them anymore. The only time I do watch [AS] is for new episodes of Venture Bros. Meanwhile: Delocated on its 3rd season, Eagleheart renewed for a 2nd season, Children's Hospital for a 4th as well as a T&E spin off about Dr. Steve Brule green lit. It fucking makes me sick Adult Swim used to be the high light of my day, At one point my sleeping schedule was fucked just because I had to watch.
If ya want. The jokes are over done and drawn out way to long. Far to often they focus on "awkward" humor which to me isn't funny, it's just awkward. And the editing style while I understand it's intentional I find incredibly annoying.
Usually I trust MovieBob... I have seen plenty of movies on his recommendation, almost all of them as good as he says... But Tim and Eric? Seriously? I think he's reading wayyyyyyyyyyyy too into their terrible humor. That long list of themes and messages hidden in their content that he rattled off like they were real things... No... It's just absurd bullshit with no coherent rhyme or reason other than to make me uncomfortable. And I've seen the films Bob listed in Test Your Might and those don't make me nearly as annoyed or unsettled as fifteen minutes of Tim and Eric making out with each other with food in their mouths while staring directly into the camera.
Wow Movie bob likes Tim and Eric? I just lost...pretty much all respect I had for him. I mean...fuck, how can I trust a persons reviews who has that horrible of a taste in comedy? :\ Tim and Eric are likely one of the worst things to happen to Adult Swim. It used to be pretty damn good, but it has just been shit rolling down hill You know, honestly I would rather see My Little Pony on adult swim instead of Tim and Eric and Delocated, for fucks sake its called CARTOON network.
' The jokes aren't funny, If you're looking for some good immature stupidity, Bevis and Butthead is a much better choice, be it new or old series.
Just cause we can't explain in words how much we hate something, don't make the hate any less intense. Just like BOB, great person of many words, cannot explain why he likes Timber And Erica, beyond the fact that he likes it and its hard to explain.
