Unfriended - Successful Skype Slasher

Unfriended - Successful Skype Slasher

Unfriended is a teen slasher movie that takes place almost exclusively over Skype. It's also smart, funny, scary, and has something on its mind.

If they wanted a Skype horror show they could've just filmed my average Skype experience, amirite?

For real though, the concept sounded interesting in either a "this is gonna bomb really hard" kinda way, or "this is gonna be great". Glad to hear it's firmly in the latter.

Well, I'm torn. It sounds like an impressive movie that deserves to be watched, but I just can't see myself getting invested in a movie about teenagers.

Call me a cranky old curmudgeon, I'm actually disappointed that it's any good at all because the premise is so...icky.

I suppose this is the closet I will get to a internet related horror movie since I thought they would of cash in during the "chain mails". Still good thing this film is good for the better since I can guess a chain mail movie would of suck (well it will still be made as a C or less rated horror movie).

EDIT- Oh wait, that "It Folows" is sort of like a chain mail horror movie but when I mean chain mail, I mean those annoying messages on Youtube and Deviantarts many years ago.

Rather a shame then that the non-stop barrage of YouTube ads for this movie had me completely sick of it weeks ago.

You aren't alone in this thought. Every time the title came up in the trailer I couldn't stop my eyes from rolling. There are so many things about this movie that made me want it to flop.
1. It's a horror movie(I'm more a fan of suspense/thrillers, if I ever even want to watch anything of the sort, and even then it needs to be sci-fi. Such as Event Horizon or Alien)
2. It's about teenagers, I can't stand them in real life(I refuse to acknowledge that I ever was one), why would I pay money to see them act?
3. The name tries to make someone unfriending, or unfallowing, or blocking you some sort of horrifying idea.

But if the movie is good, then I guess that's a plus for anyone who can't help themselves when another horror movie hits theaters.

Like our good friend Tyler the Creator once said: "Hahahahahahahaha How The Fuck Is Cyber Bullying Real Hahahaha Nigga Just Walk Away From The Screen Like Nigga Close Your Eyes"

In this case it is cyber haunting, though.

So, basically "I Know What You Did Last Summer" but not stupid...?

I dunno, maybe.

I do love me some horror, but the whole idea of "dead person gets revenge on his/her killer" is a little tiresome to me.

Maybe something to watch when it's rentable.

That's the benefit of not having friends! Take that, ghosts!

On-topic, I'm glad it's good. I feel like I have already watched the length of a feature film what with all the advertisements I've seen.

It was a pretty solid movie but I felt bad for

They weren't bad people compared to their friends. Also was a massive thundercunt and I hate her.

Can anyone tell me if they think it's really horror or made for the current generation of teens? I'm interested in watching this, but I'm a bit too old to fear embarrasing photos being leaked.

Ha, my friend you clearly haven't seen Pulse (2006) or Untraceable (2008).
There more thriller than horror but they revolve around the internet.
I would recommend seeing neither of those movies as they're boring and bad as well as technically incorrect, but they exist, which is something.

As for this movie, based on the premise (teen slasher on the internet) I would have passed. But reading the review it might be worth having a look at it.

Wow, I'm genuinely surprised.
I thought it was going to be stupid, the kind of stupid I usually end up seeing anyway (I'm lookin' at you, V/H/S) but at least now I know it'll actually be good.
Not going to make a real effort o run out and see it, Netflix debut will suit me fine but still, will click the instant it's there.

I just got back from seeing this. It was entertaining, but more because of how bad it was. The actors weren't able to sell anything IMO so it just made their situations a lot more funny. Some of the shots were just plain awkward too. The one with the blender in particular seemed kind of off. My friends and I were barely able to hold back are laughter at what was supposed to be a shocking moment.

The ending kind of pissed me off too. I thought they were going to going to simply:

The movie had a fun premise, but I think it would have been a lot better with some beers.
