The Downside to Marriage Equality

...You guys aren't paid enough for his shit, you just aren't.

That was pure Irish Granny Nagging at it's finest! XD

I'm thinking Grey's just bitter - I'm betting he's got an absolutely darling little outfit and no opportunities to wear it.

Heh, ok, pay that one.

Well I couldnt stop laughing this was one of the best comics you guys have done recently. Im laughing to hard

That is going to be soooo true for soooo many families. Nice one!

Hey, maybe we WANT to be nagged by our grandmothers! You ever think of that?

<.<

Another downside? The potential number of people such as I to bitterly glare at when going to crowded movie theatres and restaurants by ourselves has now literally been doubled. Hell, quadrupled if you count trans.

Prepare yourselves gays. And remember that this is the future you chose.

Heh, never thought of it like that. Guess it goes both ways, huh?

Isn't the whole wanting of grandchildren a natural instinct of needing one's genetic material past down to a future generation? In fact, I'm pretty sure the baser instincts of heterosexuals is to mate with the opposite sex so that they can do just that. So there is a logical fallacy in the grandmother in the comic wanting to be 'like other grandmothers' by wanting her grandchild to adopt a non-genetic descendant.

Captcha: Cloud nine.
An appropriate choice considering that is where most homosexual couples are at right now with the Supreme Court decision.

I worry about marriage equality because I fear for the child caught in a never-ending loop of "Go ask your mother."

Why does no one ever think of the children?

Finally, homosexuals can be as cranky and miserable as straight married people! Huzzah!

Its all that negativity that brings people together. XD

Great comic.

I can actually imagine this happening.

Its funny because its true. No really, she won't shut the hell up and I'm going insane. We didn't listen! WE DIDN'T LISTEN!

Both my grandmothers were mouth-foaming homophobes.

Trade ya.

You want my grandmother who thinks she's Mary Todd Lincoln and the other who isn't that homophobic but says shit that otherwise would make skinheads blush?

Seems like a fair trade. NO BACKSIES!

You haven't even heard about my grandparents besides the homphobia. Though I'm down to one grandmother now, so you may win by default.

Except on the racism count. I think my family can hold their own, even down a member.

Gays have been able to marry for a week now

*In the USA.

Nope, grandmothers just love grandchildren they don't care where they came from, I know one likes getting adopted grandchildren so much that she says its her preference since she doesn't have to weight 9 months before trying to get her daughter to give her another one. Also many grandparents are much more interested in passing down their cultural heritage than their genetic.

As I've always said, we should never deny someone the rights to be miserable in marriage (or be made miserable by family members because they aren't married) just because they're gay. Everyone has equal rights to misery, self-inflicted or familial.

:)

Okay... This made both me and my boyfriend reading it together (He was looking over my shoulder the scamp) cringe and chuckle. Wonderful comic you made there.

It's too bad my family doesn't talk about any of that stuff... other than the constant conversations about divorce... >.>

Other than that, I'm sure, at least, one of my cousins would want to related to this situation...

Ah armchair evopsych, we meet again. No not really, a lot of them just like kids and being a grandparent means you get to do the fun bits of parenting without most of the negatives.

This. Hey I'm glad. More women for me. Once homosexuals get all the hot guys , it'll finally be my time to shine!

Meh, not all gay men or women are super-attractive. I've lived around a large gay population, they're just as diverse in attractiveness as straight folks. Einstein knew his shit when he said its all relative. It applies to pretty much everything in the universe.

Then you are a masochist. Congrats :D

Thats not how logical fallacies work. In fact if you want to argue informal logical fallacies what youve done here would often be called the "appeal to nature" fallacy. There is no logical connection between natural instinct and higher function decision making, and no reason to claim that it is illogical to behave counter to an instinctive reaction. Instincts are not a logical construct, they have no logical value in or of themself - its just brain chemistry, with no logic involved to be contradicted.

That is indeed the great tragedy of being a parent. Parenting 24 hours a day leaves one too tired to gain the maximal amount of joy from interacting with a child. It's infinitely more fun to be ramped up to 11, play with the child to (your) exhaustion, and then be able to give the child back.

And, as an added bonus, the child thinks you're the greatest thing since sliced break, because you are always "on".

Sadly, parenting in 2 hour chunks with 12 hours recovery is not an option most parents have :-(.

Granny wins! GUILTALITY
