I was really impressed with Shutter Island and agree that it made me see DiCaprio in a different light as an actor. The movie really disturbed my girlfriend (she broke down in tears during it) and she hates/refuses to watch it again; it left me wow'ed. I think that the fact that it made a very emotional impact with her shows that they at least succeeded in creating a great movie.
The first three of these are on my Representing Madness module in university, though we have Girl, Interrupted and Fight Club instead of the other two, though I can see why you left them out. One's not set on a psych ward and the other one's shit.
