#134: Last Word

The purest form of communication.

( ͡? ͜ʖ ͡?)

I actually respect this guy now. That's selfawareness lvl 80!

Wait a minute, is that yellow shit stuff coming out the back of his hairstyle head?

Blimey, now I'm glad he's dead. :I

He died as he lived: apathetically.

Alas poor not-Cloud, we hardly knew ye. Or cared.

That was magnificent. A picture is worth a thousand words.

Guess he didn't have any auto-revive equipment on.

Other than that, looks like this phoenix was really down for the count after all...

Love it, 10/10, would kill again :). Now, just don't forget to steal his white balls, they're Holy.

He died the way he lived. Giving no fucks.

Goodnight, forgettable swordsman. And a flock of fringe-haircut angels sing thee to thy rest.

Oh no! The guy with no personality and who never did anything but stand around looking "cool" died pathetically!

Nah it's cool, now he's going to become one of the most popular characters in the comic.

The guy can type a shrug emoji...

He truly is a badass.

Yep, that's what happens when you bleach your hair and then stop giving a fuck. It was very him.

I'd salute his passing, but I don't think he'd appreciate the effort.

Yeah, I think we know what his response would be.

Guess Not-Cloud turned out to be Not-Wedge or Not-Biggs playing dress up.

Also Erin is likely dead too by now so even if they get Gunny back they're still worse off then when they started.

Phew, glad the emo is dead. If Fluttershy dies, though, I will riot.

To see the apathetic guy die, all I can say is: Meh.

The Wooster:
Nyeh.

So punch lines very similar to this were speculated by a good number of folks after the previous comic. Grey/Cory, do you guys ever read the comments and adjust your next comics? Like, have you ever:
-1. Seen a great idea in the comments and incorporated it into the strip.
-2. Seen your punch line already spoiled and taken a different direction.

Or are you guys working on strip scripts so far in advance that the comments play no role whatsoever?

This gag was planned from the inception of the character. Generally, however, my callbacks are off the cuff. Example: All the raccoon callback gags are spur of the moment things.

As for punch/reveal spoilers: I generally don't write EDA with comments in mind as one of the problems with weekly or biweekly comics is that it gives people a lot of time to digest each page and read between the lines. When you've got twenty or thirty people speculating about a gag or a twist, at least one of them is bound to get it right.
