"Weird Al" Puts The Doors on Craigslist

"Weird Al" Yankovic has unleashed his latest single on the internet, an homage to The Doors in which he asks a very simple question: Do you want my styrofoam peanuts?

Craigslist, Al's newest song, features clever and amusing lyrics about swapping stuff and making connections on the massive online classifieds network of the same name, but where it really stands out is in its dead-on parody of The Doors. Al nails the mannerisms of Doors frontman Jim Morrison and the video for the track is a fantastic reflection of the band's psychedelic, drug-fueled reputation.

Adding even greater authenticity and a good dose of groovy is the inclusion of Ray Manzarek, the former Doors keyboardist, who plays on the track. Craiglist is currently available as a single at iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody and most other major music sites and will be included on Al's next album, set to be released next year.

So, do you want my styrofoam peanuts? The trash can's not part of the deal.

Sure. They come in handy when I gotta ship stuff for eBay. And I'm well stocked with trash cans, thank you.

I could say a sex joke though I'm not in the mood.

OMFG I love Weird Al....in a you know non-gay way lol rhymes are fun.

This seems too similar to his Ebay song.

Wit turned up to 11.

he always brings a smile to my face

it is a great Jim Morrison and the Doors parody, he's always pretty good with them and for the most part the artists love him doing a parody, there's been a few where they've called and asked him to do a parody too

Oh I love you weird Al

You know, these types of song remind me why I still like weird al. The guy can still nail a musicians look and style whilst making a charming tribute to what made them great. With funny songs too.

I always find it cool when musicians help him out with his parodies, like how Mark Knopfler played the riff for "Money for Nothing" when Al needed it for the parody of that song using the lyrics to the theme song from "Beverly Hillbillies"

weird al RULES! But not his best song in my opinion. Yet there were some funny parts. Weird al is the king of parody!!!!!!

Weird Al will always be truly worthy of the term "epic."

though I did not know he had an Ebay song, I don't think I would mind that he did another similar one because of the stylistic parody he's doing here.

he's got the doors nailed. ray manzarek of course makes it a million times more authentic, but whoever played guitar was a pitch perfect stand-in for robbie krieger as well

Weird Al is really a remarkable talent. People don't take him seriously (for obvious reasons) but the man has six platinum records in the US, seven if you count White & Nerdy, which was certified platinum for digital downloads. There are an awful lot of "real" musicians in the world who'd kill for that kind of career.

"Would you like my stone penis? The trashed condoms aren't part of the deal."

Just to let you know you asked for it!

sorry about that ^ lol by the way thanks :)

Yay. I hate the people who say Al is bad because he "Disrespects artists" even though he asks for permission for all his parodies.

Great song.

Also, when trying to find out what "styrofoam peanuts" were since English isn't my first language and I had only heard it being called "packaging material" I found this.
Seeing that picture made the song 10 times more awesome.

Love the Doors, Love Al.

Awesome that Rays still on the go :D

As good as PBJ :D

Weird Al's got amazing range---consider all the musical styles he's not just parodied but dead-on nailed over the course of 26 years of studio albums and a total of over 30 years of doing parodies counting his sessions going back to the Dr. Demento stuff from the late 70s. Al's been doing this for at least as long as I've been alive, and I'm an old fart.

While it might be funny now, just wait until EVERYONE knows this song and won't stop singing it. It always happens.

On a positive note it's pretty funny.
