Pachinko Report Points to Persona 5 for PS3

Pachinko Report Points to Persona 5 for PS3

image

A Japanese website that covers popular gambling/amusement device pachinko has reported that Persona 5 is coming to the PS3.

I suppose it's only appropriate that a franchise as heavily immersed in the surreal and bizarre as the Persona series should be the subject of speculation as random and strange as this. Bear with me here. A Japanese website called 7rush that covers pachinko - those gambling machines popular in Japan that provide the real-life inspiration for Peggle - is reporting that Persona 5 is coming to the PS3.

Okay, so what does a website about freaking pachinko have the scoop on the next big thing from one of Atlus' hottest franchises? Apparently the site was on hand at a press event for the Shin Megami Tensei slot machine (told you this was going to get weird), and are claiming that word was given of Persona 5 on PS3 launching as part of a big boost for Shin Megami Tensei in general.

As Siliconera pointed out, the Persona series does have a history of having its games debuted in the least dramatic of fashions: Persona 4 was announced via an insignificant mention in a financial report at Bloomberg. This, then, would not seem so far-fetched, but at the same time, other sites, like Dengeki Online, had nothing to say despite being at the same event. They might have actually been following embargo, while 7rush, being a bunch of gamblers and pachinko addicts, have no such standards.

We reached out to Atlus to get their official statement, and didn't get much aside from the equivalent of "Persona 5? Wha? Really? Hm. I dunno..."

Hmm... Nice to see the Ps3 getting another game. It's good for those who love Persona.

Never got into it myself.

Nooo! Don't abandon the PS2 just yet. I can't afford a PS3 for now.

Ooooo, this seems interesting. I have yet to get into the Persona Series, and I've been hankering for some JRPGs recently, so I may have to get back to the PS2 games.

I have Persona 2, 3 and 4. I would welcome 5 on the ps3 no problem.

Lol, since others didn't hear it, I bet it's a lie.

YES MY PS3 PURCHASE WILL NOW BE COMPLETELY VALIDATED IN MY EYES!
I fuckin love the Persona Series. My only problem is I finally got my hands on FES and the Boss for the 135th floor is so horribly overpowered its bullshit.

Fuck you sleeping table.

If you can, I would advise you get P3 over P4.

YES!!! After enjoying Persona 4 on my PS2, I can't wait dust off my PS3 and play Persona 5.

What's the difference between them? I'll do a little research and look around to see if I can find any of them.

YES! Just finished P3 and P4, this would be awesome

P3 has a much darker storyline that unfortunately ople complained about, but it makes the game a lot more interesting. P3 also has a lot more actual "battle" time over "social" time whereas P4 reverses that. P3 has a lot more playtime as well, especially if you get FES. Most gaming sites would say P4 is better but I don't see why. PM me with any other question you may have about Persona.

They're both probably cheap in the bargain bin. I'll definately look into both of them, thanks.

Well games have been announced in odder ways, and theres a friend or two of mine who would love to hear this.

Also, something in my platform sense tells me there may be another console cross over coming if this game is really gonna happen... I dont mean to offend any hardcore Sony fans, but Microsoft has been recieving so many of Sony's franchises (Final Fantasy. Devil May Cry, MGS [that new one that is supposed to follow after 4...], and [if the new trailer i saw at a friends place is to be believed] Castlevania) that it wouldnt surprise me at all to see Persona 5 on the X-box.... then again, i am probably just a rambling Microsoft Junkie with too much time on his hands... time will tell

P.S.- please do not quote me on any of that mentioned above concerning the newer games, as i am probably horribly misguided

I know I shouldn't but i'm going to anyway, FF, MGS, Castlevania would all be considered Nintendo franchises except MGS which stated out on the MSX

Arg no! I mean... sweet... <:(

I don't have a PS3 so I guess I won't be able to play it. Which sucks. I just started getting into the Persona series and I'd love to play a brand new game, especially with HD graphics and whatnot. I guess it's too much of me to ask that Atlust bring the game - if it exists - to the Xbox considering their long history with Sony, but man. That sucks. I wanna plaaaay.

Cool, I know it might be hard to get into but if it comes around I'll give it a try.

I think it's just cause They need to change formats, Persona has never been a series where multiple disks is viable (it has a very contained location) so while possible would only beat around the bush of there current problem, They need more space. IIRC apparently they had to drop a lot of ideas for P4 because they didn't have the space to accommodate them, but seriously at this point I would just be glad for Persona 5, oh and SMT: Strange Journey

you do have a point, though all those listed have more fallen to nintendos handheld thing while sony kept their console aspects alive... wither way, it would be nice to see this move towards X-box in the constant jockieing for position that the publishers and console companies do

I don't have a PS3 though...

If you do decide to get P3, make sure to check out P3:FES. That was the one with the expanded content, I believe.

I really want to get into the Persona series now. I keep hearing good things about it...

Actually i still paid around 30-40 euro i believe for my copies which i got a few months ago. Could just be me since they're hard to find around my parts

I wouldn't expect any gaint graphical leap if it is coming to PS3. Persona's one of those hardcore JRPG's that tend to just stay the same no matter what platform it's on. But it'll be in HD at least.

I really, REALLY need to get the other SMT titles...

Good luck getting them cheap in a bargain bin; even the used ones for both games are pretty expensive where I am. A used P3 FES was the equivalent of $80USD and P4 used is around $40 US. The series is pretty popular.

And oooh, I'm excited that it's going to be PS3, mainly because I have a PS3. If it was 360, I'd have to cry because there'd be no way I could get it. I'm still holding out hope for a Lost Odyssey port, even though I know it'll probably never happen...

Interesting, been hoping they would continue the main line on the ps3 but I will not sniff at this. All I need to heard now is that they are going to convert persona 2 for the psp as well and I will be very happy.

I would recommend playing them both, however P3:FES should be played first. There a re a lot of little battle improvements and system improvements that would make the sift back hard, however overall I would say he plot for P3 is better. P4 might have a better paced plot overall and does attach you to the whole cast a little more but the ending of P3 is a lot better and Junpie has one of the best character arcs I have ever seen in a game. I would not count on them being cheep though atlus don't print that many games so they become fairly hard to get after a while, however P3 and P4 have not seen the price inflation some of the others have seen.

I've found P3:FES for $20 on amazon, and P4 for 40$. Since my sister said she'd buy me a game for my birthday, I can probably get P3:FES without digging too deep into her pockets :D

I do believe it is time for bold:
YESSSS!!!!!
