Battlefield 1943 Fastest Selling Download Title Ever
Battlefield 1943 Fastest Selling Download Title Ever ![]() WW2 Pacific shooter Battlefield 1943 took gamers by storm, becoming the fastest-selling download-only title of all time on both Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, EA announced today. We already knew there were lots of people playing Battlefield 1943. First, it was the game's success that crippled it out of the gate with server issues and lag. After the server problems were fixed, though, we began to see exactly how many people were playing the game: A whopping five million kills were scored on the first day alone, and Xbox owners had amassed a whopping 43 million kills within less than a week, unlocking the Coral Sea map. That's as many deaths as conservative estimates attribute to the entirety of World War II. So yeah, we knew that BF1943 was popular. How popular? The most popular, actually - EA DICE announced that the game had sold over 600,000 copies on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network since its launch on July 8th, making it the fastest-selling download-only title of, well, all time. While the game was undoubtedly bolstered by critical acclaim and the power of the Battlefield brand name, there was another selling point - at just $15 a pop, it's pretty damn affordable. With the economy what it is, getting a fun multiplayer experience for less than twenty USD is a pretty good deal, and the sales of the game reflect that. The full press release is below:

Figures, it's a fantastic game. Does anyone know what the previous "Fastest Selling Download Title Ever" was? I'd just like to know.
Good game for the money, im guessing the price tag had a lot to do with these figures.
castle crashers ftw! | |
it is a good game and the price is affordable to everyone.
Games like this at 15 dollars tend to sell well.
It is a brilliant game, I've only played it once at a friends house though, but I think by next year it will be trumped.
My only request is that they add more maps. Apart from that everything is perfect.
It isn't perfect... DICE need to remove the red dots above the enemies (which can even be seen through terrain) and make your team mates markers larger and more informative (i.e. neutral, firing, just killed). It would also help if you could scan the spawn area you had picked before committing to that location.
This is better then COD4 in my opinion. I also heard rumors from the developers that they were going to end the game in like 30 days or so anyone able to confirm this?
Counterstrike source probably : P every time i look at steams top seller list its there.
It'll top Steam's as well once it comes out on PC.
Doubt it. EA do state that they CAN shut off the servers 30 days after release, but I am yet to hear of them actually doing so. They also give about a months warning before they close them down anyway.
Thanks I was pretty upset reading the 30 day notice thing.
Why would EA close the servers?
Man, if only I didn't experience such massive lag in the game, I'd go get some Microsoft Points for it right this moment. Instead I'll wait a week or two. Good going with the sales DICE, makes me proud to say I'm a swede! :D
CCFTW! it may have been the previous betseller, i dont know
