Capcom Responds to Resident Evil Religious Criticism

 Pages PREV 1 2 3

Ah, its just the religious of England needing attention because we dont care about them... How else are they going to get the attention of young Brits faster than attacking video games? :D

That's gained my respect. Now I hope other companies follow suit.

Capcom I salute you. You have my sword.

and my axe

And my stinging social commentary :)

Seriously, much respect to Mr Tan.
Embarassing that it was British folks doing the nonsensical preaching his time round.

Knight ate the Bishop. Checkmate.

Videogames>Religion
'nough said.

"This is scaremongering and typical religious hysteria. You cannot blame society's ills on video games. It's just absurd."

My thoughts exactly. Now point this type of statement in the direction of the media and politicians and make sure it's public and I'll say job well done Capcom.

Capcom just earned my support, it's about time someone stopped and hit back at those xenophobic bastards jumping on anything they get the chance to.

Just proves two things.

A.) Multi million dollar coporations can make sense and not be evil
B.) Non-gamers shouldn't have any fucking say in video games whatsoever!

Well done Capcom guy. You can come over to my house and **** my sister.

There's at least a million movies about cults, and in such games people kill cultists not join them, so if they are promoting anything its death to cultists. Besides its just a game, not propaganda (like the church for instance) . Great response from Capcom.

CAPCOM.. YOU CAN DO NO WRONG

We need more people like this.

Quad08:
Mr Leo Tan, we need more video game spokesmen like you

T-Bone24:
HUMILIATION

FLAWLESS VICTORY

These. Finally someone who can finally tell the church to stick to praying.

+10 Respect for capcom.

I'm not sure...

I think he could have gone a step further...

"You're right. All media that has an effect on a large audience should be restricted from depicting supernatural phenomena or realms of belief associated with the occult.

When the bible has been edited to remove references of witchcraft, sorcery, necromancy, divination, resurrections, super-natural healings, and the control of elements -both fire and water- then capcom will gladly seek to eliminate all occult references from future games, with heart felt apologies."

just because its a game doenst mean its for pre-school kids mr.bishop

Capcom just bitch slapped the clergy. That's funny.

Krythe:
If only they'd had this sort of balls before having to shoehorn sheva into RE5... *sigh*

I rather liked Sheva. Plus every Resident Evil game has had a female and male partnership.

Best response ever. Go Capcom!

AndyFromMonday:
Have a beer Capcom. I will now proceede to massage your feet and probably do something kinky to you.

Haha that's so funny but yea I'd prob do same :P

(Claps) Bravo! Well said, sir.

Sheva was a Mary Sue awkwardly shoehorned into a franchise that was complete without her for the SOLE purpose of proving that the game wasn't racist.

This is similar to how they disavowed the accusations of whites vs. blacks by throwing in several white enemies apparently based off of Saddam Hussein. To anyone who has even a grade-school grasp of geography, throwing white people into rural West Africa makes about as much sense as finding black people in central China.

As for a male/female partnership, I see no reason why deviating from that is necessarily a bad thing, but if you're a staunch traditionalist THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH USING JILL. She's essentially the most likeable character in the franchise, but due to the fact she wasn't black, she was killed off in a fucking flashback cutscene and replaced with a much more politically correct ally.

As for sheva herself: she was bland, shallow, impulsive, cliched, and actually rather stupid.

There are exactly two reasons she could be considered likable:

1) You're one of the PC asswipes who anally raped the original concept in the first place, in which case I can only express sorrowful distaste for you.

2) (I'm guessing this is yours.) The amount of fanservice given by her outfits (which make absolutely no sense as far as combat practicality goes.) Particularly the tribal outfit, which has her prancing around half-naked in a sad attempt to dissuade us from becoming angry that she ruined the game.

Are you sad? You sound sad. As for her being bland, shallow, impulsive, cliched and actually rather stupid, that holds true for every Resident Evil character. Every time they've introduced a new character every single one of them was a dipstick when they had their first encounter with Umbrella's experiments.

Jill's "death" was just a plot device to have her later on as a boss fight, and if you really thought she was dead even 5 minutes into the game's opening you're an idiot.

As for Sheva's default outfit, what makes that less combat effective than anything Chris wore? Yes I'm sure that wearing a t-shirt would make all the difference in the world to her instead of her tube top. Or for that matter, what made Jill's old outfit any more combat effective? Compare everything the characters in the Resident Evil games wore to one another. Usually it's been boots, pants, a t-shirt and some kind of side pack.

And no, I'm not staunch traditionalist, yourself. I'm always interested in seeing what's new with the series. I don't get mad when the games try something new and it doesn't work. What I do develop is a growing distaste for asswipes like yourself who nerd rage over the dumbest shit, which really just reflect much more poorly on you than anybody who doesn't have a problem with it.
