The Blue Bomber Returns to WiiWare in Mega Man 10

The Blue Bomber Returns to WiiWare in Mega Man 10

Mega Man is coming back for another go on WiiWare, in classic retro style yet again.

Mega Man 10 for Nintendo WiiWare has been revealed by a preview of the January 2010 issue of Nintendo Power. The game follows up on Capcom's experiment to take Mega Man back to his roots with Mega Man 9, which used a classic gameplay style along with 8-bit graphics and sound. It must have worked out for the company, because Mega Man 10 will follow the same design.

Everything will be retro yet again, with at least eight new bosses to defeat. The only boss revealed in the preview is the horrifying Sheep Man, who can turn into clouds and attack Mega Man from above with lightning. Other bosses may be hinted at by a couple of Mega Man 10's new stages, one being computer-themed with enemies shaped like mouse pointers (Microchip Man?), another a vertical ascent amidst fireball enemies and lava pools (Volcano Man?).

Playable from the get-go in Mega Man 10 will be your friendly neighborhood Mega Man, the sliding and shot-deflecting Proto Man, and a super secret third character that hasn't been unveiled yet. My money is on Bass, a Mega Man rival whose blueprints made a cameo in Mega Man 9.

Mega Man 10's story will involve a virus called Robotenza, which causes robots to go berserk. For more information we'll have to wait until the next issue of Nintendo Power comes out and the rest of the preview can be read. Until then, you can sharpen up your skills with Mega Man 9, currently available on WiiWare, XBLA, and PSN.

He's really called Sheep Man, and not Storm Man? Given those abilities, he seems like a Storm Man to me. Either way, I think you're right, but personally, my money would be on Zero as the secret character. Anyone who has beaten Mega Man X4 as Zero would understand my reasoning. It would be cool to see Zero in 8-bit, too.

Y'know it's hard out here for a Blue Bomber.

tryin' to make the money for the rent?

i had no idea that megaman 9 wasn't an nes title, they went really really old school for that one. lookin forward to the new game too!

Go go Classic Retro!!!

Must...get.

I,m all for classic and retro its funny for one time but second time nah

I'm still firm about 70-80% of the people who buy this will never complete it.

Amen to that.

OT:I haven't gotten to play MM9 yet.
But from what friends have said about the difficulty, im scared.
Its a wonder iv even beaten any of the MM X games.
Still it dosent make 8 bit MM any less awesome.

Seriously? I wanted my Megaman Zero 5...

I'll still never complete it. Megaman makes a fool of me, no matter which installment, I always lose.

Well at least they're not BSing us this time by making us pay for features available in older Megaman games (charge shot and slide I'm looking at you). I was pissed when they pulled that fast one then tried to justify it with "But you're playing as Protoman!". Not acceptable.

Well i'll be buying this in any case, I'm just not paying for any DLC they try to con us with.

Charge buster? Slide? Please?

edit: Dammit, beaten to the punch. That's what I get for loading the page and then leaving it alone to do other things for twenty minutes.

It's probably going to more of the same, but considering how fun part 9 was this certainly isn't a bad thing.

Mega Man 9 was great can't wait for 10 these retro games are where megaman shines.

Better ease on the difficulty , I still have nightmares about tornado mans stage................ no, not the rotating cylinders, NOT THE ROTATING CYLINDERS!!!!!

Does anyone else find that this "robotenza" thing reeks of "Maverick Virus 20XX"? Even still, DAY ONE'D!

Since Mega Man 9 is the only game in the Mega Man multiverse released since X3 that I think wasn't a shameful dissappointment I'm really excited about mm10.

The only part of mm9 that I really hated was the final battle. Hitting the eggs just right was such a pain ><. Also, stoning the lasers in that one room.

The only shameful X game I have seen i 7. But that's because they tried something new and found it wasn't good enough.

All the others where solid MegaMan X games.

Personally I think they should do some more X games instead.

Best looks

Best story (I saw the intro to MegaMan 9 and good god did I laugh at it. Are you KIDDING ME? That town is so retarded it's amazing how they still live. Like hey people, it's me Wily and I'm not the one doing the bad things but Dr Light is. Duh we trust you right away. Retarded story is what that is.)

Coolest character(Zombie Sigma Robot? That is sweet)

Better gameplay (Yes, I played MegaMan 9 and it's not GOOD gameplay. It's old and dated.

If they can pump out Street Fighter games they can pump out MegaMan X games.

I love the movie poster's style, harking back to the days when the Mega Man covers looked absolutely nothing like the actual game. Loved Mega Man 9, probably gonna love this one. Though Mega Man 2 will probably always be my favorite.

X4 was a fantastic game, I don't know what you're talking about. Then again, I'm also the only person in the world who actually liked X7, so maybe I'm just less picky. >.>

So it's a Wiisclusive?

If it is, as much as I love Mega Man, I'm not buying.

I'm sure it'll be on Live and PSN as well. Whether or not they'll be out on the same day as the Wii version or have later launches, who knows, but Capcom isn't much for keeping their games exclusive to one system when they know it will sell on others.

I'm sure Megaman 10 will be great but I think they really, REALLY need to do something a bit more...Modern. I think Capcom can make a very good and engaging Megaman game using current graphics. It will just rely on more substance is all.

Tom Goldman:

Was bass ever in any of the 8-bit mega man games. I can only seem to remember him from the more graphically enhanced ones.

Quick, someone notify the naysayers who claim we're all retards and we're killing the industry...

Tom Goldman:
Mega Man 10's story will involve a virus called Robotenza, which causes robots to go berserk.

Okay, they're going one of two places with this.

1: Precursor to the Sigma Virus from the X series.

2: Robot swine flu.

Judging how one of the robot masters in this game is going to be livestock (Sheep Man), I think Option 2 sounds a bit more plausible.

Okay, now there just milking this idea. The original Mega Man series really doesn't need more sequels. Mega Man 9 seemed to me as just something of a one time thing. Now, I wouldn't be surprised to see Mega Man 14 by 2010.

I think I speak for all of us when I say: "YYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAHHH!!!"

Every time I see XBLA as an acronym, I think Jon Stewart: "XBox Live Arcade, or NAMBLA."
