Atlus Holds Second Demon's Souls World Tendency Event

Atlus Holds Second Demon's Souls World Tendency Event

On Halloween, Atlus changed all of Demon's Souls' worlds to pure black. Now, for the winter solstice, the worlds will go pure white.

Demon's Souls is an awesome game, everybody knows that, including Yahtzee. The game is hard, wicked hard, and has you taking on boss monsters that are unfathomable at first. On the contrary, Demon's Souls will become a little easier this week if you log into the game's online server, because Atlus is holding a pure white tendency event.

Every world in Demon's Souls has a tendency, i.e. condition, ranging from pure white to pure black and this can change depending on certain in-game events. During the Halloween weekend back in October, Atlus changed the world tendency to pure black, making every monster harder but also leading to better loot and soul drops. Atlus is now going to change things up and make the worlds pure white, which means easier monsters and not quite as good loot.

The alterations of monster difficulty and loot drops are not the only changes during pure tendency, and in fact they're probably the most inconsequential. More importantly, pure tendency means that certain enemies may disappear (including the giant dragon that killed Yahtzee with its fire-breath), certain doors and paths may be now unlocked that lead to unique items, and unique characters will make appearances. It can be tough to actually attain these tendencies on your own, so it would be wise to log into Demon's Souls this week if you're not up to the task.

Atlus' white tendency event is currently ongoing and will run until 12:00 PM PST on December 28, 2009. For more info on tendency, check out the Demon's Souls wiki.

And thus did the young European man look saddened at his screen, he had been reminded of the fiendish publishers' deeds again.

This is a really cool thing for a developer to do. That sounds awesome. I know it's been done before, too.

You can always count on Atlus to be awesome.

I, unfortunately, will be away from my ps3 for most of this week and next, so I don't know how much of this I'll be able to enjoy

At least you can enjoy it...Me no have PS3....I'll get one at some point, but for now, I needed to get a Wii for Christmas. So that I can finally, finally, finally play Ocarina of Time. But next year...Next year...

Well, bugger. Wishing I had a PS3 here, no Microsoft developers ever do things like that!

*Sulk*

I'm getting more interested on this game now, this kind of event makes solo playing more interesting altogheter.
Just wish I had a PS3. And the game. And time. And money...

Aye, this is true.

Shall be intresting, lol. Looking forward to seeing how this will affect it =D

This sounds fantastic! I've been holding off getting the game though, and now I've got an added reason for doing so. Does it require you to be online constantly while playing?

I actually don't believe this could be the case, but with cool features like this it's the only way to access it, soooooo... Just figured I'd say is all.

Damn, my imported copy probably won't arrive until next year. I hope this isn't the last one.

i might have to play this again. it got me rather annoyed at it for doing some very stupid things, especially the grind of it

If only I hadn't done all of the Pure White and Pure Black World Tendency events... twice, along with the Pure White and all of the Pure Black Soul Tendency Events.

Yes, I'm bragging. It's the one game I feel I'm allowed to brag on because it's so hard.

Anyone else who has gotton through the second playthrough/has a platinum trophy (which means 4 or more playthroughs) is welcome to brag with me.

I find this game interesting since it pulled me out of atlus's trauma center, still playing.
