Zero Punctuation Nominated For Streamy Award

The Escapist's own Zero Punctuation is nominated for a 2010 Streamy Award for Best Animated Web Series.

The Streamy Awards were first given out in 2009 to honor the emergence of web video as a respected medium. For 2010, International Academy of Web Television has expanded its categories and garnered more than 150,000 public submissions, covering 2,000 original shows. These submissions were whittled down to a mere 100 nominees in categories that recognize performance as well as craft. The nominees were released this week and most of the winners will be announced at a gala event on April 11 in Los Angeles. The Streamy Awards have expanded its categories for 2010, and Zero Punctuation is nominated for Best Animated Web Series. You can see all of the Streamy Award nominations for 2010 here.

"I'm truly impressed with the outstanding quality of this year's Streamy nominees," said IAWTV Chairman, Michael Wayne. "It's a testament to how far the online video industry has come and a great predictor of where we're headed."

The Streamy Awards began last year with a bang. The Awards Ceremony held on April 11, 2009 at the Henry Fonda Theater in L.A. was a star-studded affair complete red carpet. Actual Hollywood names attended including Neil Patrick Harris, Lisa Kudrow, Rosario Dawson, and Joss Whedon, but that was because they were nominated for excellence for their respective shows. In 2009, The Guild won for best comedic web series and Joss Whedon's Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog nabbed quite a few Streamys including Best Directing, Writing and Best Male Actor, the incredible NPH. Zero Punctuation was also nominated last year for Best Animation in a Web Series but lost to The Meth Minute 39.

In the Best Animated Web Series category Zero Punctuation is up against Eli's Dirty Jokes, Happy Tree Friends, Homestar Runner, How It Should Have Ended.

Here's hoping Yahtzee takes home a Streamy this year. Think he'll pull a Sally Field and cry during his acceptance speech? "You like me! You really like me!"

Wow, going agaisnt Homestar Runner and Happy Tree Friends? Yahtzee has indeed hit new hights.

EDIT: Gotta throw a good luck in here as well!

He's more likely to pull a Gollum...

Oh sweeeet! Thats awesome!

Come on Yahtzee! You can win this for sure!

Wow, while I may have gone off his reviews a bit all I can say is good luck to him.

Come on YAHTZEE! You can make it!

Calumon: Wow, being rewarded for being mean. Why don't I get rewarded for being nice?

As much as I think that this is awesome for Yahtzee, I lost all hope for this when I saw they nominated Buckley for something. Best Host I think. Dear lord no. Also, no NC or Linkara either. Nostalgia Critic is a movie review series and Atop the Fourth Wall is comic book review series ...

Good luck Yahtzee. If you win, drinks on your tab ;)

I'm slightly curious as to why Homestar Runner has been nominated because, much to my disappointment, there haven't released a video since November I think.

Well, I actually hope he wins. He's provided hours of procrastination for me.... Maybe that means he should loose? hmmm...

EDIT: I just noticed that University of Andy has been nominated for best companion web series. I love University of Andy. Currently working towards my masters! I'm majoring in Bear Attacks and Threesomes. That man is my hero.

Well Yahtzee deserves it. He does good work and he deserves something to commemorate that. Good for him.

Wooo go Yahtzee, we're all behind you! You smarmy git who gets paid for doing fun things and we'd all like to secretly assassinate and steal your hat.

:D

... Hope you win!

ZP is good enough to win, the overall quality of the "reviews" has never dropped, so I believe he deserves it (even though that would probably mean he'd skip one espisode!).

Wow.

On topic, I hope, if he wins, he does his acceptance speech in ZP format.

Sure hope he's gonna win, but that doesn't stop me from asking just one question: WHY THE HELL ISN'T DOOMSDAY ARCADE NOMINATED FOR ANYTHING?

Uhm, Yatzhee has some challenge with Happy Tree Friends but the other two are "Ehh"

Doraleous!

A well deserved nomination, but going up against Happy Tree Friends is going to be tough.

I dunno, no offense to Yahtzee but I kind of think Homestar Runner should win. They've been providing the internet with top-notch comedy since before web videos even became well known. I think they deserve something for their work.

About time for Yahtzee to get recognized..but going with Happy Tree Friends is gonna be a tough one.

I wasnt even aware that Homestar Runner was still around. Jees.

Surely the quality of the animation should be factored in....

I don't think minimilistic stills used mainly for visual puns exactly excel here.

Good luck to him, haven't seen the other nominees so can't judge how much of a chance he has.

I think if the award is going to who generated the greatest level of entertainment with the least technology than Zero Punctuation should win easily. I would also like to see sxePhil win in his category but that seems far less likely.

Hoping that Yahtzee will win this, sure, but this kinda lost credibility after I've seen the "Best Vlogger" nominees.
Shane Dawson? Seriously? Ughhh.

Good luck Yahtzee, you smarmy git. That is all.

Is this a picture of the award? It looks like undercooked spaghetti.

Congrats Yahtzee! I've watched about every ZP about 2-3 times at least. His reviews are quite accurate, plus I've taken his recommendations before and found the games he recommends to be quite good, so here's to Yahtzee! If we can vote, you better vote!

Dear God, I got an unpleasent flashback involving chavs after hearing that voice...

But yeah, good for him. I doubt he'll even show up, and find out he won through an e-mail or something.

Grats to all!

I'm just very thankful that the statue for the Streamies isn't yellow. I cannot tell, however, if it smells of asparagus. Perhaps that info will make it to the acceptance speech.

Good luck Yahtzee! It's going to be hard to win over happy tree friends but you can do it!

I agree, I love Homestar Runner.

Yahtzee, you can do it! You really deserve this award, your reviews are funny and also actually accurate!

Homestar Runner has been going downhill for years. Yahtzee is gonna wipe the floor. (he better not, running 100 bucks on Happy Tree Friends.)

"In the Best Animated Web Series category Zero Punctuation is up against Eli's Dirty Jokes, Happy Tree Friends, Homestar Runner, How It Should Have Ended"

It will either be Zero Punctuation or Happy Tree Friends. How It Should Have Ended isn't very good anymore and the other two never really appealed to me =\

I hate to say it, but I don't want him to win...
