Bethesda Unveils Fallout: New Vegas Collector's Edition - UPDATED

image

Bethesda Softworks expects the upcoming Fallout: New Vegas to sell even better than the hit Fallout 3 and to help ensure it does, it's taken the wraps off the game's super-cool Collector's Edition.

The Fallout: New Vegas Collector's Edition comes loaded with extras inspired by the post-nuclear version of Sin City that players will encounter in the game. The CE will include "Lucky 7" poker chips modeled after those found in the major casinos along the New Vegas strip, a deck of cards illustrated with New Vegas characters and factions, a "Lucky 38" platinum game chip, a hardcover graphic novel written by Creative Director Chris Avellone called All Roads and of course, the ubiquitous "Making of" DVD. The whole thing comes packed inside a sexy, faux-weather-beaten case.

"We're offering this very cool collector's edition to give fans the opportunity to own some of the items that they'll discover while playing Fallout: New Vegas," said Bethesda marketing man Pete Hines. "We are also expanding their experience with the game by including a top-notch graphic novel worthy of the Fallout name and a DVD that gives them a behind-the-scenes look at how the game was created."

Collector's Editions aren't quite the rarity they once were but even so, the New Vegas CE looks like a standout. It'll need to be: Hines also predicted that the new game will outsell the multi-million-selling hit Fallout 3. "Based on what we're seeing so far from the response at retail and from gamers, we expect New Vegas to do even better than Fallout 3," he told MCV. "We'll have to wait and see just how much better."

Fallout: New Vegas is expected to be released near the end of 2010 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

UPDATE: For those who can't be bothered to dig this stuff themselves, GameStop is listing the Fallout: New Vegas Collector's Edition for $79.99 ($69.99 for the PC) while the regular version is $59.99 ($49.99 for the PC). Dare to compare!

Looks alright, but it depends on the price for me.

Hmmm... thruthfully, I expected something better for the collector's edition.
Oh, it's all good if you like all the poker and cards kinda thing...
But it just seems a bit bland for a collector's edition.

The game is about New Vegas...

(I hate poker, and I'll be putting in my preorder tomorrow.)

Oh hell yes! You know I'm getting this!

Actually, you have a good point there, that little bit went straight over my head :P
Ugh... too distracted... must sacrifice more souls to the Hello Kitty god...

Yeah... I'm gonna pre-order. Why? Fallout: New Vegas shall = awesome.

Must pre order CE, I was anyway, but now I need to even more.

Anyone else getting a lil hot just looking at it? ;)

Hmmmm, depending on price this may be the first collectors edition I ever pre-order.

I believe for the Eighth time this week, my head is going to decompress in a very epic way.

Calumon: And I need an Umbrella!

Looks very shiny! Love the chip gimmick.

Might invest in this

i tihnk i just shit in my pants

Must... have... ASAP...

Unless it's over £70 cause thats as high as I can go.

Goddamn it! I hate Bethesda.
I cannot afford this! Yet... I need it. A deck of cards? Chips? A weather-beaten case? Totally useless. Yet I need it. Damn.

Oh boy. I missed out on the special edition last time, and secretly hoped my disk would break so I had an excuse to buy it. Cannot wait.

Nice. Will wait for a UK price before considering, however.

Two questions:

1) How much?
2) Can I pre-order it already?

This is going to be my most cherished collector's edition. (Not a difficult task considering my only other one is PDZ)

Shit, I just spent the money I had re-buying old ps2 games I loved.....I WANT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really want this but I'll wait to see what the price is... But still looks awesome... It's 80 dollars, so converted, it's about 54 pounds... So I reckon around 60 quid in the UK.

Looks like GameStop has it up for preorder now. It's $79.99, as opposed to $59.99 for the standard edition.

I was hoping for a new lunchbox though. Mine is getting a bit beat up :P

If its less than £60, I am so getting this...

Looks great but it seems a bit early to show the package off.
It would be nice to see some footage or another trailer first (although I already know there'll be some in E3). =3

as mundane as this one is, i'm gonna buy it. i hope they never figure out they could wrap a turd in a piece of cardboard, slap the fallout name on it, and get my fan boy ass to buy it for 150+.....

Exactly what I was waiting for!

Bioshock 2 still had it beat though where collector's ed is concerned. If Fallout wants to be number one, they will offer a full set of Brotherhood Armor with Helmet...and a machine-grenade launcher

[/joke]

I think I'm going to preorder mine today

more then 85 i no get. I think its lame to spend more then like 85 dollars on a game....well. Maybe the Bioshock 2 Collectors Edition was worth it.

I want it! But alas... I'm an unemployed student. As long as I can still buy the game, I'll be happy!

I figured that the extra goods would be novelties. I have no interest in the cards, and what use would pretend casino chips be?
However the comic and DVD (or maybe Blu-Ray on PS3) seem interesting, so I'd still like to pre-order it.

Wow, that's so baller. I got the Fallout 3 lunchbox the first time around and thought that was neat, but for a 79.99 CE this sounds pretty phenomenal.

$69.99 for the superior PC VERSION

or

$79.99 for the 360/PS3 Versions

P.S. I'm changing my pre-order over to this version TONIGHT!!!!

Interesting... i'll have to think about this.

Ok so I lost a solid week (as opposed to a liquid week? Shutup.) playing the standard edition Fallout 3 due to how awesome and addictive it was. So with this CE I'll be addicted for months and will incessantly nag people to play card games, drool over the graphic novel included (wipe clean covers please!) and watch, rewatch and re-rewatch the making of. Oh bugger.

...

Hope it's better than the Mass Effect 2 CE.

Hmm...I was expecting something a little flashier. I understand they are going for a Vegas theme, but a deck of cards? A couple of poker chips? That's it? Obviously omitting the book (most CE's come with a book, be it a novel, artbook, etc.) and the "making of" DVD (which probably took less than a week to compile footage and edit).

Anything more than $70 is too much IMO.

Looks like it'll be $80 for me. Guess I'll just stick with the basic game. Honestly, I'll read the book once, watch the video once, and the other shit will probably collect dust until I sell it or throw it away years down the line. I thoroughly hope everyone else pre-ordering will enjoy it more than I would.
