Kane & Lynch Movie Needs a New Director

Kane & Lynch Movie Needs a New Director

image

Only two months before production is scheduled to begin, the studio behind the Kane & Lynch movie is casting around for a new director.

Simon Crane, a long-time stunt double and stunt coordinator who's also worked as a second unit director on films including Terminator 3, Troy, X-Men: The Last Stand and Quantum of Solace, was originally signed to direct the Kane & Lynch film but a report by Latinoreview.com claims he has now left the project. A "trusted, proven source" at Millennium Films said "it wasn't working out" between Crane and the studio, but the specifics behind his departure are unknown.

Whatever the reason, the movie is scheduled to begin production in August, so the studio is hustling to find a replacement. F. Gary Gray, the director of and Law Abiding Citizen, turned it down and now Wayne Kramer, whose resume includes The Cooler, Running Scared and Crossing Over, is reportedly in talks to take over.

Does it matter? This looks like a fairly by-the-numbers summer action flick to me, not the sort of thing that requires any particular artistic vision beyond the ability to make stuff blow up real good. The fact that it would have been Crane's first time in the big chair, according to IMDB, speaks volumes: This movie doesn't need someone good, it just needs someone.

Kane & Lynch needs a new Lynch. That's all i'm saying.

Uh oh... not a good time to be having problems like these.

why jamie foxx that doesn't make much sense to me especially as lynch is white, i just hope this movie is watchable i don't think it will be the hit of the century anyway,.

Terminator 3, Troy, X-Men: The Last Stand and Quantum of Solace

Decent, shit, utter shit.

Be Cool and Law Abiding Citizen

Great, good.

I'd say, improvement with directors.

But since he turned it down...

We're left with...

The Cooler, Running Scared and Crossing Over

Never heard of, never heard of, never heard of

Jamie Foxx? Why?
I agree with the statement: it just needs someone. I liked the game and will go see it regardless of who directs it.

Jamie Foxx? What the shit?

Still going to be such a bad idea...It just, wont work.

Alternatively, Kane & Lynch movie needs to not exist. Kane & Lynch is already too much like a cheesy action movie to begin with, so what does the translation to movie hope to achieve? In keeping with my new policy on serial numbers, I am renaming this project 'Generic Action Movie #5379'.

I'm okay with Bruce Willis, but, Jamie Foxx? JAMIE FUCKING FOXX?! But...but...he's...*facepalm*

Also, I don't see why they're even making a Kayne and Lynch movie. The game were never that good to begin with.

Casting Jamie Foxx????

I'd rather have Rick Ashley than Jamie Foxx...

The fact that the would-be first time director left the project says even more.

Also is that an actual poster? Because neither shadowy figure has hair. So they're basically saying "Lynch is a balding white man with long hair? No, Lynch is Jamie Foxx in everything he's ever done."

Not saying he's a bad actor. I'm just saying he doesn't need to stoop to this level.

This movie looks like Crank with less plot. On that note, why not get Jason "will-badass-for-food" Stathem on the project? Hell, put him in the director's chair too and save the extra money that a warm body would cost.

This should've starred Terry O' Quinn and Michael Emerson

No, that says nothing at all.

Wait a minute? Jamie Foxx signed on to play Lynch? I was all for Bruce Willis being Kane, but Foxx doesn't even look like Lynch. Plus, I just feel he won't be able to play the psychopathic, pill addicticed, trigger happy killer that Lynch is.

While playing it with my Brother, I felt the storyline would have been better had it been done in a shorter interval. Say what you want about the gameplay, but I actually liked the story of it and I feel like this movie does have potential if the writers don't screw this up.

No, I based that on my experiences with the first game, which was fairly unremarkable in my opinion (the second one is looking decent though).

Also, Director-Actors are not uncommon and it would be nice to see Mr. Stathem have a back-up plan so he doesn't end up like Stephen Segal and Jean Claude Van Damn doing everything short of sucking c--k to make a paycheck.

Let's be honest for a moment: We don't exactly have high hopes for this movie. Yes, Prince of Persia worked, but Moviebob's point that it felt anti-climatic is probably due to the fact that we know that video-game movies are going to need more than a few sucesses to break that chain of failure.

Yah. Ain't Lynch the old nutjob with the long hair. Or was that Kane ... Screw it. I meant Jamie Fox.

Yet, some of his statement is true. I think Statham would play an excellent Lynch.

I don't really care if they feel they need to diversify the cast, but the most important part of Lynch's character is that he's completely FUBAR, body and mind. I have a hard time seeing Foxx pulling that one off.

It needs a new director and a new character to play Lynch. Jamie Foxx is a good actor, but I really can't see him playing Lynch. His skin colour has nothing to do with it. I just can't see him acting like Kane. I think Jackie Earle Haley would be able to play Lynch more like the character of Lynch.

I don't care that he is black I care that he is Jamie Foxx, I hate that dick head. It's even worse when there are actually talented actors to put in the role, Mos Def is the first that comes to mind if they really wanted a black actor.

Yet again, a crappy game being developed into a crappy movie. I severely disliked that game, and no matter the name on the movie, I can't imagine they'd be able to spin gold from crap like that. But hey, I'm just glad to see Bruce Willis didn't hang it up with acting. But this should prove to be a hell of a challenge for him.

Im just going to see this movie for Bruce Willis.

And why the hell does Kane and Lynch get a movie before Metal Gear, FF8, or Zelda?

AMMO Kid:

Hey, there's a very low risk of him giving the project up or letting the director down.

On topic, while I'm not knowledgeable enough about film to judge the directors, I'll reiterate that this isn't likely to end well.

Can someone please tell me who decided that a game only like 100 people played needed to be made into a big-budget action movie? Especially since only like 10 of them actually liked it?

And if you guys know who said okay to this, could you also tell me how they came to this conclusion?

And how involved in all of this is Gamespot?

HA HA HA.

Jamie Fox, did someone fell on the back of his head or something? Th'fuck?!

Actually, I was only talking about this part:

The Gentleman:
This movie looks like Crank with less plot.

The Gentleman:
I based that on my experiences with the first game[...]

Which still doesn't make any sense to me at all. The one thing the original game and Crank have in common is that there are guns fired in both.

Let's just not talk about Statham as a director. He never did it before, and just because it's not uncommon for directors to also act in their movies, he probably couldn't. Being a film director means a little more than just yelling at the actors, telling them what to do and cry about what makes you unhappy.

I thought it was supposed to be Bruce Willis and Mickey Rourke as Kane and Lynch. Anyway this movie now went from "wanted to see it" to "wait for it to hit HBO" now.

Whose idea was it to put Jamie Foxx in this?

My question is - does anyone actually care about this movie? Hell does anyone actually care about this game?

Puddle Jumper:
Kane & Lynch needs a new Lynch. That's all i'm saying.

Yeah, not against black people, or Jamie Foxx...but what the hell?

Oh, and a lot of you were saying how bad the game is, but I have to say some parts of it were pretty fun if you were able to get through the frustrating controls, bugs, and INSANE difficulty. I died so much on easy...and I wouldn't say I'm bad, even mediocre at games.

I liked the game purely because of how amoral it was and it was an ok freedom fighters style blast that was great in co-op.

Michael Mann is the only guy who could pull this off and get Billy Bob Thorntan to do Lynch. Then you MIGHT have a good movie

Give it to Uwe Boll. The movie at this rate looks like it's going to be either mediocre or worse. Uwe will make it soo bad it's quotable.
