Sucker Punch: inFamous 2 Will Induce A "Heart Attack"

If you thought inFamous was good, Sucker Punch thinks you'll die after playing the sequel.

inFamous 2 was recently revealed as the cover story in the latest Game Informer magazine. Details on the title have gushed out from the issue's insides, including how the sequel will progress the series' morality system and why all the ladies will swoon over the new Cole.

PSInformer describes the entire feature, and transcribed a few quotes from developer Sucker Punch. inFamous 2 will reportedly have bigger bosses (which weren't too small in the first game) and could include new online features. Cole has a new sexy look for the fall season too, but the big change seems to be in the game's evolved morality system.

PlayStation 3 exclusive inFamous allowed players to make either good or evil choices. Healing pedestrians and completing good missions unlocked unique good powers and gave protagonist Cole a friendly look. The opposite unlocked evil powers and made Cole look quite nasty. Aside from a major choice or two, the division between good and evil was quite obvious.

inFamous 2 won't be so cut-and-dry. "There are bigger consequences to your choices, and it's not really obvious what's good and bad," Sucker Punch says. "Morality is certainly a big part of the product. And we are committed to making it impactful and meaningful, and have it be something you feel is responsive to how you're playing the game." This sounds similar to what BioWare did with Dragon Age.

Sucker Punch also says that it hopes to give everyone that enjoyed the first game a "heart attack" with the sequel's improvements. inFamous was quite good, so a heart attack-level second game would be very welcome.

I understand the need for exciting action,
but I nonetheless must exclaim my disagreement with coronary dysfunctions during my play time.

Interesting how they'll evolve the moral choice system, but I really feel like at the end of the day you're either choosing between an Electro-Batman or an Electro-Hitler, with no middle ground.

EDIT: Electro-Batman is officially my new definition of awesome.

Ah, I love how companies are becoming more like extreme fanboys every day. It makes me feel smart.

*Grumble* I was fine with the black and white morality choices in the first game. It made the game FEEL more like an action hero drama. I like to keep my morally gray choices to my RPG's, thank you.

i had a heart attack when i saw they officially announced it.

don't know if i can handle more...
guess i'll have to tough it out.

Well that sounds interesting.

I enjoyed the first one. And despite the black/white morality system I found it pretty fun. Its also pretty neat how people cheer you if your good, and throw crap at you if your bad.

Loved the first one, I need the next one.

Oh boy, a heart attack!

I can't fucking wait.

Does anyone else feel when a company hypes up their games beyond belief.....its more terrible then the game before it?

I loved the first, but I'm always skeptical when it comes to improved morality systems. They never seem to change much, and the choices are still pretty much always black and white.

But hey, lets hope they prove me wrong.

Blurring the line between good and evil? Sounds interesting....

It's funny how when a thing is said to give you a
'heart attack' it's a good thing, but things that give you seizures are bad and get intense warning labels, especially since heart attacks have a higher chance of killing you. Maybe the higher risk of death = more appealing. Can't wait till inFamous 3 gives everyone cancer.

I'm joking of course but honestly could they have not said "We hope no-one gets a heart attack from this awesome heart-attack inducing game because Heart attacks are bad but this game is so awesome it might give you one through sheer awesomeness" instead of "We hope whoever plats this game gets a heart attack" It's funny because they worded it like they want the players to die.

It's unfortunate this isn't coming out for the 360. I'd LOVE buying both games to see how this worked out.

Of course, I take his so-called "morality grey" area with a bit of salt. Many people claimed that and many people failed. I only know BioWare pulling such things off.

I'd have a heart-attack of awesome if they announced it for the 360...

Ambigiuos moral choice? I hope they have seen and are following this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_KU3lUx3u0

Make him fly? Please make him fly.

I'll have a heart attack when ya bastards give me Sly cooper 4!

personally, i'm just waiting for Sly 4

I don't care about anything going on this article other than the fact that there will be a sequel to inFamous, one of my all time favorite games. I can't wait for this thing to come out and get a heart attack from it! It's great to see one of the best PS3 exclusive games develop into a series.

Yeah, that's cool and all, but where the hell is Sly Cooper 4?

Also, why does Cole look like a completely different person?

Decent news even if I haven't had much time to play the first one.

Though I have this niggling suspician that what they are not telling us is that the free bonus controller that comes with the game is rigged to deliver a heart stopping electrical shock should Cole die while your playing the game.... a clever way of assuring truth in advertising without creating a game that is actually that metaphorically awesome! :)

Just watch, and be careful... chances are if there are beat metal nubs on the ends of the thumbsticks there is a reason for it!

Damn it, why don't I have a PS3? The first one looked good, and the little bits I got to play of it where pretty fun, and now that they're trying to make more gray choices like in ME2, which was one of the few moral choice systems I loved. Anyone got a PS3 I can steal buy?

I dunno, never seen a "Shades of Grey" morality system done well

Anyone else think that it Looks alot like the force unleashed?

Sorry I gave up on this game after encountering that bullshit save the girlfriend or scientists "moral choice" quest.

If that's the New Cole, I'm not swooning over him whatsoever....

Not quite hyped for it but i'm excited to see if it lives up to what they're saying.

BioWare didn't pull this off any better than any other dev.

If you thought inFamous was good, Sucker Punch thinks you'll die after playing the sequel.

What if I thought inFamous was shit? Did Sucker Punch say anything about that?

The Seldom Seen Kid:
EDIT: Electro-Batman is officially my new definition of awesome.

That's weird, because I think Electro-Hitler might be mine. :p

Excited though. The first was one of my favourite games last year.

I don't care what anyone else says. I can't wait for the sequel. inFamous has made its way to my list of top games.

I'm quite disappointed about a lack of a Prototype sequel announcement. All the first Prototype needed was more polished gameplay, balance out abilities better(sword and whipfist are pretty much all you need for the rest of the game), and a better implemented stealth element(less throw sentries and detectors all over the place).

Infamous 2!

Now a legal form of assisted suicide!

Okay, that was in poor taste...

I wouldn't say unfortunate. It doesn't effect me since I have all three consoles, but consider people who only have a PS3, no Mass Effect, Halo and other exclusives. Seems only fair they get something in return like inFAMOUS, God of War etc.

Plus, inFAMOUS' graphics would have to be severly reduced to accomodate the 360. Just compare PROTOTYPE to it and you'll see what I mean.

Prototype was fun, but outside of the story missions and the fact that you can just fuck around massacring people, it just ended there. It had a good ideas, but it was spread out to much to coherently work. It was like a giant cake, but with no frosting and a few strawberries scattered around on top. inFAMOUS was smaller in size, but it was presented in a much more cohrent and polished out structure. Like a small, delcious pie stuffed with candied fruit and sugar coated crust. Now if they just increase the fuck around potential and map size, it would be much better. Now excuse me, I'm going to eat some delicious black forest cake.
