PilotWings, MGS, StarFox Headline 3DS Lineup

Nintendo wasn't kidding when it said that the 3DS would have a ton of third party support: Metal Gear Solid, Assassin's Creed, Final Fantasy and more are coming to the handheld alongside old Nintendo classics.

I just got off the phone with Greg Tito, who was in the audience for Nintendo's E3 2010 press conference. I asked him about Nintendo's recently unveiled 3DS handheld. His words? "It's 3D. I don't know how, but it works." (Look for a hands-on soon!)

Nintendo has promised that the handheld will enjoy significant first-and-third-party support when it launches, and judging by the press kit, it wasn't kidding. The full lineup is massive: From Nintendo itself, we get the revival of classic franchises like PilotWings and StarFox (not to mention Kid Icarus). From the third party publishers? We get a whole lot of stuff - MGS, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, and a lot more.

Here's the full lineup via Shacknews.

Good lord. Nintendo killed it this year, and the 3DS is looking mighty impressive. Keep an eye out for hands-on impressions. The screen you see here is from the apparent MGS3 remake Snake Eater 3D: "The Naked Sample," and boy that looks nice for a handheld, don't it?

See more 3DS games on the Nintendo site.

Keep track of our E3 2010 coverage here.

Imagine the DS if it wasn't considered to Childish, then add a bunch of Adult games to it and give it better graphics.

The 3DS is just that, and it's AWESOME!!!!

Nintendo out did themselves this year. Now how much will it cost? Actually...I don't care about the cost. I'm buying it at launch!

My dear nintendo, how you have swooned your way back into my heart. All it took was that love bird call of "Starfox", and I was yours again.

Well, at least they aren't making the same 'mistake' as they did with the Wii.
Edit: Where is Pikmin? And is that just a 3D remake of SF 64?

Pfft, just another crppy line-

HOLY F*CKING HIDEO KOJIMA'S METAL GEAR SOLID SNAGE EATER !?

...Look's like I'm breaking the piggy bank.

John Funk:

HIDEO KOJIMA'S METAL GEAR SOLID SNAGE EATER 3D "The Naked Sample" FUCK YEAH!
BOKUJYOUMONOGATARI 3D (name not final) What the FUUUUUCK?
KINGDOM HEARTS franchise FUCKKK YEEEEEAAAAAAAAAH!

Calumon: I want more Kirby! ^^

DAMN STRAIGHT it's awesome!!! HIGH-FIVE!

Also, the 3D "gimmick", as some call it, works.

Here's a hands-on article from kotaku, since the escapist hasn't got one yet:

Seems cool to me, will have to see if I can come up with the money for a new handheld now.

The Atlus RPG list is especially appealing to me, though I am wondering if some of those are just remakes or if they are new installments in the franchises.

For example "Devil Survivor" is not that old of a game, I'd love to see another game in the series BUT I'm not sure if I'd want to re-purchuse the same title just for 3d graphics.

Starfox? STARFOX! Oh god. I love you Nintendo.

BOKUJYOUMONOGATARI is coming up in Google as Harvest Moon. I'm really excited by all of this. Remember the original DS launch?

There are to many games to even begin to praise them all.

So im just gonna say yes.
Hell yes.

"Star Fox 64 3D"

*Drools*.....

Metal Gear?
Pilot wings?
Kid Icarus?
STARFOX 64?!

That's it, I've bought a 3DS and it's not even out yet.

I guess this was a no brainer for the third party developers, Nintendo handhelds have been so consistently successful it's hard to argue that you shouldn't release games for them.

Yes. Yes it does.

Wow! That's quite the lineup! Talk about knocking them dead!!

I approve!

Damm this line up looks good. Can't wait for it to get released.

Wait wait wait, I can have MGS, Persona, FInal fantasy, star fox AND paper mario all on this handheld? Well, I have a must buy now!

I agree. More Kirby. Always more kirby.

I refuse to buy it until there is a Kirby...wait a sec...
*Looks down list
Oh crap...SF4...
Prepare for awesome explosion in 1000...999....
Metal Gear?
Contra?
Saints Row?
Tom Clancy
Assasins Creed?
Awesome explosion just speed up
3...2...1..

heh - Harmonix: Music Game. In other news Crackheads : Addicted to Crack. I do like me some harmonix games though, maybe something like frequency?

I think that makes up for Wii music.

Fuck Yeah!!!!!!

Ninty has finally came through!! Star Fox AND Kid Icarus!

Great, the first StarFox game in a few years and its on a system i don't have.

Just when I thought I was done with Nintendo. Goddam them.

Even though I'd rather see a new Metal Gear game a 3D remake of Snake Eater (by my opnion the best entry in the franchise) would be pretty awesome. I just still find it hard to believe this really works. In my opinion 3D in movies hasn't transended beyond anything more than a gimmick and I still find it hard to believe it's possible to get a truly three-dimensional effect without the need for glasses.

Yeah, now if only you didn't need to hold it so far and so close, or if it didn't make the images fuzzy by failing to hold it at the correct angle. So many possible problems, but so many good ideas.

Wahful:

Uh, it's on a system that nobody has. Because it's not out yet.

what about Golden Sun DS????? :'(

Wow, if someone told me two years ago that Nintendo was actually going to steal the show at E3 2010, I never would have believed them. I'm certainly sold on this. Besides, I NEED a new DS, my old one is barely still working <_<

EDIT: Hold up, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory? That's kind of random to me, it's like if they suddenly announced Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. But as one of the few people who didn't mind the initial DS port, I'm interested to see where they're going with this.

They already have 64gb flash cards avaialable with rumours of 128gb units along the way. Sony's Blu Ray disks were sitting pretty on 25gb (soon to be 33gb) disks. The new 3DS games can be both huge and pretty.

I don't think Nintendo enjoy producing games and hardware as much as the feeling they get when they make the competition feel small and insignificant.

Maybe not completely accurate, but...

I kind of called it!

FUCK YEAH!
Martha Stewart in 3D!

I knew this would steal the show, I just didn't expect this many quality games. I mean, the first party games alone are enough to justify a purchase come launch, but amazing third party too? I know what my most anticipated product in the upcoming months will be!

Pilotwings? Oh my god Nintendo I love you ;_; I miss that series so bad, and I'm so glad to see a revival of it. And I really hope "Shin Megami Tensei" is a remake of the old Shin Megami Tensei games, since I've played all the other games in that list. Though I really love Etrian Odyssey and don't want to keep stealing my boyfriend's copy.

While I'm sill skeptical about how well the 3DS will work, I have to say I'm wonderfully amazed at the level of support the handheld is getting already.
