Reach Has Toughest Halo Enemies Ever

image

Think the Covenant forces are tough when you're on your own? Bring a few friends in Halo: Reach and you'll see how tough they really are.

To get a decent challenge in a co-op game of Halo 3 or ODST, players had to crank up the difficultly level, because the enemies got no more of less tough, regardless of how many Spartans were shooting at them. But all that is set to change with Halo: Reach, as the game will automatically alter the difficulty of your foes depending on how many people are playing.

Speaking to Kotaku, Bungie's Brian Jarrard said that in Reach enemies in co-op play would not just toughen up physically, they'd also get smarter and trickier, make better use of cover and just generally be more dangerous to fight. Jarrard told the site that the enemies in a four player co-op game would be the most devilish enemies ever seen in a Halo game.

I must admit that this piques my interest in Halo: Reach, and especially in the co-op mode. Taking on the role of a space marine and battling wily aliens with a few friends sounds like a pretty fun way to spend some time. Halo: Reach gets released on September 14th.

Didn't they say the same exact thing about ODST? Just saying...

Cant wait to play this game on legendary with my friends :)

I hope Bungie is truly pulling out all the stops here, I really like the Halo series, and I want it to go out with a bang.

I'll believe it when I see it.

If its actually true, then SCORE!

Let's hope they are. I'm looking forward to this game.

Only in Firefight, and they did get tougher. I'm even more exited now.

Ooo, this will make their new Firefight mode even more fun.

So far all the enemies return, but I haven't heard anything on the Drones and Engineers. I look forward to launching rockets to them.

Yay! :D

Oh wait... Microsoft are being dicks about which customers they sell their games to. Silly me.

EDIT: Yes, I mean that they aren't releasing it for the PC. Before you say that they should only release their games on their own platform, remember that PCs run Microsoft Windows, which belongs to Microsoft.

Trust me, they aren't lying. That's one of those things Bungie never actually does.

So we're fighting ducklings now?

*dodges thrown tomatoes*

I kid!

Seriously though, I doubt it'll matter to me, since I don't have a 360.

Huh? That makes no sense.

Hmm, I'm not sure if I believe this - it would be great were it true, however. Most developers say things like this but it often boils down to enemies having 10% more health or other trivial changes.

No, they said it was originally going to be one, but they beefed it up past that.

Stand alone expansion, right? Kinda like Super Street Fighter 4

Bungie wouldn't lie about a confirmed feature. Also, normal Legendary mode was more health. More Reach has systems like how enemies can see you, hear you, and level of aggression and tactics. It's likely if you're in leg with 4 peeps, all of that will be on full.

I truly hope this game will be as epic as they promise( glares at Halo 3), Halo is one of my all time favorite game series (shut up I already know your opinions on the matter). so I'm hoping that this game will embody everything that's great about Halo. Also space battles :P

Huh? That makes no sense.

They only sell their games on the 360. For that they have my mild contempt.

So if I just intentionly die for a while, the game will be easier for abit?

Just keep set difficulty and stop messing about Bungie.

Was this a feature in your other games? No.
Did your other games sell well? Yes.
Did everyone complete the campaigns? Mostly.

Some people just like to breeze through single players, why deny this opportunity?

They're a publisher, it's what they do. Though, I do wish they were no such thing as first party developers. Then again, do you think Sony, Nintendio are also dicks?

I think it'll really make more of a difference in Leg and Heroic, sure you'll be able to breeze through on normal.

Well, should certainly make for some new play at least, and new ways to kill them off! Rawr!

No, but I don't want to play their games on my PC, and they never had PC support in the first place. Also, it's Microsoft's own operating system!

I think they mean that, if there are four people playing in co-op, the enemies will be more intelligent than if there were two; who's dead and who isn't shouldn't really matter.

Beyond that, playing single player would afford the same experience as always as the difficulty is upped as more people are added to the game, so you can still breeze through the single player; and, even if it gets too hard with four people, you can lower the overall difficulty rating. If things are too easy, you can add skulls. Halo is wonderful in that it lets you set the precise difficulty you want to play.

All that said...I love you Bungie, don't fuck up.

It's their flagship title. It would be like Valve actually supporting the console version of TF2 or making the PS3 versions of their games themselves or Sony bringing Metal Gear Solid 4 and God Of War 3 onto the 360.

But it's their own operating system! I am as much of a customer of theirs (and probably more than, in terms of money spent) as anyone with a 360.

it still is an expansion, that's why the bos says:Halo 3 ODST not just Halo ODST

OS =/= Computer. Your operating system is Windows (as is mine), but your computer is most likely not. I, for instance, have a Dell computer with the Windows 7 operating system. Dell makes the money from the CPU, not MS.

Im sure there will be an easy mode. In fact I remember that in halo 3 the easy mode description said something like "the game practically plays itself"

Of course there will be. Bungie doesn't take out features.

Anyway, Leg is the way I play. Halo 1 was the first game I ever played properly at the right old age of 7. I'm sure once I adjust to leaving CoD and going back to Halo I'll breeze right through it.

But Microsoft makes money from the Operating system, and the game would be limited to Windows anyway.

They're not tougher, the guns were just nerfed even further, demoting them from Pea Shooters to Water Guns. Not the Blastoise kind, but the Super Soaker kind.
