More Red Dead Redemption DLC Coming Soon

Rockstar has announced four new DLC packs for Red Dead Redemption, bringing new multiplayer action, mini-games, anti-griefing measures and even zombies to the hit western saga.

"Our goal is to continue to pack as much entertaining gameplay and as many surprises as we can into the massive world of Red Dead Redemption over the coming months," said Rockstar co-founder Sam Houser. And he's not kidding around, because beginning in August and running through the fall, Rockstar's multi-million-murdering cowboy sim will be getting some serious DLC love with not one, not two, not even three, but four individual releases.

The first DLC release, the Legends and Killers Pack, will include nine new multiplayer map locations and eight new characters, as well as a new weapon called the Tomahawk. Following that will be the Liars and Cheats Pack, which will add still more multiplayer modes including Attack and Defend, horse races with mounted combat, eight more characters, multiplayer versions of Liars Dice and Poker from the single-player game and another new weapons, the "Explosive Rifle."

Next up is the Free Roam Pack, featuring new Free Roam challenges, "action areas and defensive placements," posse scoring and leaderboards and the addition of new anti-griefing measures, and then last but certainly not least will come the Undead Nightmare Pack, which will add a brand-new single-player adventure with new quest, animals, dynamic events and more, along with eight new multiplayer zombie characters. All four Red Dead Redemption DLC packs will also bring new Achievements and Trophies to the party.

The Legends and Killers Pack is slated to come out in August, while release dates for the rest have yet to be confirmed. Legends and Killers, Liars and Cheats and Undead Nightmare will be available for $9.99 each on the PlayStation Network or 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live, while pricing on the Free Roam Pack, for some reason, hasn't been set. More information about each will be released as they get closer to launch.

Zombies?
Whose gona mount 'em first?
Cool, racing, I am the best at mounted combat.

Awesome! The game does need some smaller multi-player maps they're all to small for me, especially since their aren't to many people in a single game and wandering across the entire map to find ONE person gets annoying. Also some more co-op sounds good can't wait for that, I think the current ones are good and can't wait to see what they have lined up!

And AHH ZOMBIES! AWESOME! So yeah sounds good can't wait...well I need to get some for this!

He-he. The Red Dead Redemption user group beat ya' to it.

Still, I'm DAMN excited about whoopin' my palls in Liars Dice.

I saw earlier. Thanks anyway.

OT: As long as you can play as Edgar Ross I'm happy.

Add me to that list because I suck at it! Hell yeah!

When I first saw the physics engine in action I wanted to try something with Zombies, so yay!

Zombies are a welcome addition to any game in my book. Now I just have to actually get RDR...

Maybe they've not added much to the free roam pack because it will be free? I mean, anti griefing! I can't wait.

...Western zombies?

...yeeeeeeeees...

B-b-ut Rockstar.. Anti-griefing methods? How else am I supposed to get revenge on the noobz0rz who shoot me as soon as i enter the game? If I can't repeatedly kill someone until they leave the game, how am i supposed to make them stop?

Well alright, I've been looking for a good reason to get back into the game, and I'd say those are all good reasons. Mostly zombies though.

Damn, I was hoping it would be free a-la Outlaws to the End. 10 dollars means it's going to be $20 on NZ PSN, sadface :(

If there's a legitimate zombie mode, I'm buying this day one.

thats the reason I stopped playing it for a while, not being able to play poker, blackjack, or five finger fillet with my freinds.

but hey, as long as we can call our friends a cheat and duel them, its all good.

OT: Im wondering how the Undead Nightmare will play out, since its a single player adventure and all. In addition though, I wonder what the anti-griefing measures will be?

Spawn shield?

hopefully, I dont mind free-killing, but its hard to tell the difference between the guy who just spawned a second ago and the guy who has been running around with the sniper rifle, headshoting your horse in the middle of nowhere.

Is anyone EVER going to decide "Yeah, okay, zombies have been done to death. Let's move on."

...ever?

As soon as i saw zombies i was hooked, fingers crossed

Brainst0rm:
Is anyone EVER going to decide "Yeah, okay, zombies have been done to death. Let's move on."

...ever?

Well zombies have been done to undeath. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I cannot resist a pun.

OT: Sounds okay, I'm never too happy about paying for DLC, but RDR is a great game and anything that will extend it's longevity is welcome and I can't wait to play some new missions and gamble online. I hope the new character models don't take forever to unlock. Plus, zombies are a little overexposed but hey, they are fun to shoot and it'll be fun to ride into a ghost town to take them on in your down time, I hope they make their way into the online too.

Zombies!? AWESOME! Bring it on! Ill show em how we do it western style!

Woah, this game is still awesome even now! I have to admit that even though I don't buy DLC that often, those sound too tempting and awesome! I wonder now if that glitch with the "zombie" and Seth was really so much of a glitch and not an accidental placeholder, hehe.

Yipee!

I'm excited! I love Rockstar for being it's own publisher!

Mounted combat sounds, tricky to say the least.

For some reason using two analog sticks, two triggers and mashin 'A' at the same time isn't intuative to me at all.

Zombies only on single player? :(

Paying for DLC?
With any luck Rockstar's track record on this will improve (Totally loved BoGT, was kinda miffed with LaD) and they will be worth the £10 a pop.

Nope, game's shit online, and one of the reasons it's shit is the griefing (the other being that there's fuck all to do, because the multi modes are dead because everyone treats the free roam like one big deathmatch). Asking for paid DLC to a: fix something that should be in a fucking patch and b: make the multiplayer not shit is not going to fly. No sir.

Zombies you say? What an outlandish concept! What will be next? Dinosaurs? SECRETLY HOPING FOR DINOSAURS... SHH, IT'S A SECRET.

As cool as zombies are, I think the thing I'm most excited for is the addition of Red Dead Revolver characters (even if it does mean that everyone's just going to be playing as Red Harlow.)

Hopefully the anti griefing measure means that if they want to just shoot everyone up they have to go to an actual deathmatch instead of shooting at anything with a name above it.

ZOMBIES!!!!!!

Now get that DLC into GTA4 and I will die a happy man.

I think I'm the only one that is disappointed by this. Zombies in RDR? Seriously? Can't they think of anything more original than just dropping zombies into it?

Now don't get me wrong, I love my zombies as much as anybody. I've tons of time dumped into dead rising, and am eager to pick up dead rising 2, but I think that zombies shouldn't be thrown willy nilly into every game.

Man, I must be getting old, because I'm actually starting to give a damn about cohesive and coherent thought within games.

"Next up is the Free Roam Pack, featuring new Free Roam challenges, "action areas and defensive placements," posse scoring and leaderboards and the addition of new anti-griefing measures"

I can't help but think it'll be free just because anti-griefing measures seem just standard, they don't seem like something you should pay for.

The zombies thing though, I think it'll be very tricky to do right, but if it is done right it may end up being the next Nazi Zombies. Still, and despite my brother owning the game, I'll buy the pack.

i'll wait for the GOTY or Gold version that regroup the whole thing...

Ooooo, nifty, I loved the Co-Op pack in Red Dead Redemption, and zombies only makes it even sweeter.

also, posting this from my new computer! Yay me!

10 bucks says Free Roam Pack is free, because it certainly doesn't sound worth more than five dollars.

I am so intensely happy right now. As much as I'm looking forward to kicking some arse at poker (yeah I'm confident) the zombies pack will be the best. A Western game with Zombies??? I'm pretty much in heaven.

Yawn.

Have they added a mission where you push the DeLorian up to 88mph yet? That's the only thing that could bring me back to this game.

Well if they put a price on free-roam a lot of people will be split up.

Sounds great though. Red Dead is such a fun game ^_^
