Take the Castlevania Quiz!

image

There's a lot to know about Konami's long-running series about vampires and their hunters.

Honestly, this quiz doesn't even come close to scratching the surface - we'd probably need 50 questions for an in-depth Castlevania quiz. But consider this quizlet a tasty appetizer before diving into our review of Castlevania - Harmony of Despair. While we're on the subject, why is it that Castlevania games seem to have such emo subtitles? Must be a vampire thing.

As always, you can take as long as you like to complete the quiz, and even retake it if you don't manage 100% on your first try, but keep in mind that your cumulative time will affect your position on the leaderboards.

Got your garlic? Holy water? Whip? Then let's go!

GAH! Ranked second! Innacceptable!

EDIT:Oh great. Browser acted up, score down to zero when I went back and lost a rank and try :-P
Oh well, I managed to get 100% as intended! ^_^

40%. Bah, it was a good while ago that I did a quiz were I actually didn't have to guess.

ranked 3rd! woo hoo!

10th I was too busy doing other things.

"5: At what point did the series stop being Castlevania, and start being like every other adventure title?"

30%. Haven't played any of the post-NES games :D

30% ...in my defense only really ever had a passing intrest...

90%.

Damn Simon's Quest question...

Never played the old ones. Started with Dawn of Sorrow. Went back for the GBA games, and then got SOTN and HoD off the Xbox marketplace.

100%!!! 8th (for now)!!

I've never gotten a perfect score in any of these quizzes ever: and I've only played the DS games and the remake of Symphony of the Night. I totally had to guess with that stupid Captain N question - if you aren't like fifty years old, how can you possibly know the answer to that? Being old shouldn't be an advantage here. Even so, God was on my side! My day is made.

Whoa, 50%.
Not bad, considering I was only sure on one question and have no interest in Castlevania apart from what the Angry Video Game Nerd's mentioned.

The "What is a man?" question gave me a little chuckle XD.

I tried the demo of Harmony. I have a big TV and the camera is still zoomed out too far. It kind of makes things a little more impersonal when your character appears so small.

30%

What I expected, seeing as the last time I played a Castlevania game was when I was a wee lad, and I didn't even bother getting past the first Boss.

Not my fault Cerberus unnerved the 'Ell out of me

So... yeah, that's about it actually.

Got 6th, but I played most of the CastleVania games and read about the ones I didn't. I wish I could ignore the CV64s. I can't say that I'm thrilled about this new game, because I worry that it's going to look like just another action game, although I understand that they don't want to do yet another MetroidVania.

I got 9/10 on my first try! :D

The only one I screwed up on was number 9 though, that wasn't as hard as I thought it would have been.

Putting aside for a moment that what you just said was incredibly insulting and rude, you could always just look it up. We've never said that cheating isn't an option on one of our quizzes. It just adds to your overall time.

30%. seeing as i've only played the 2 that were on the N64 (and not played them for many years) and had to guess every question, that's not too bad

Ha! 0%! Not even scored a point by dumb luck! Suck it, vampires!

50% first try 60% unintentional second try. Not bad considering I know next to nothing about Castlevania.

Edit: Yay! 100%! ...after 4 tries.

Right its like a bunch of ageists thinks were too old for video games. You dont have to be 50 to get the Captain N question just a high tolerance for really bad cartoons.

Messed up and got 80% instead of the 90% I thought. To be fair, one of the questions is a bit of a trick question. Or I just have my Castlevania history confused. It could be either.

EDIT: Yes, I was confused. I blame Sega.

70%, not bad considering I've only played the original (and haven't even beaten it. Stuck at Dracula.). Also... What is a man? (Censored for risk of giving away answer)! Enought talk. Have at you!

4/10, pretty good for someone that has never ever played a castlevania game.

yesterday I spent my whole day playing Castlevania
I played all 3 DS games (and got to Dracula's Castle in OoE) and HoD
and today I get 100%

100% on my first try and I'm ... ranked for 21st? Oh well.

66th, no bad I think But I did screw up on Hammer. Damnit. Vincent was from Portrait of Ruin.

7. Not bad. Im happy with myself. Especially if you think that I own only Castlevania IV at the moment. But i have a semi-long castlevania history behind me.

Just like the Critical Miss comic with the BladeRunner parody, this topic makes me sad. Why have so many people not played many (or any) Castlevania games?

Damn, I wish I'd had a chance to play SotN before this quiz. I thought the "What is a man?" question was a trick question, b/c as far as I knew, you only play Richter in Rondo of Blood, so I figured that was where the scene comes from, and Symphony of the Night had a different quote.

20% and only 40 places above last! Haha, I don't know squat about Castlevania.

:( 195 :( i was 10 dammit!!!

That was surprisingly easy.

By the way, roughly 85th last I checked.

Edit: Oh and, by the way. About those 'emo' subtitles... It's because it's the situation/what you defeat (Albeit, most of the time, it's just there to be stylish and identifiable from the other Castlevania titles). And unlike the Emo culture, there's an actual Valid reason for the despair or the sorrow or whatnot.

Shortly put. Emo's would find offense because they need to be unhappy for nonsensical reasons. Last I checked anyways.

...Unless you're talking to an Emo Poser... Which is a curious thing, since an Emo is a poser of Goth/Pop/Punk culture.

The question: "What is a man" just cracked me up. Hilarious.

50% first try. Not bad considering I have only played two of them (the original and 64).
