Uwe Boll Sickens With Auschwitz Movie

image

Uwe Boll, known for terrible videogame movies, is now tackling the serious subject of Nazi concentration camps.

If Uwe Boll's movie adaptations of Far Cry, House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark, Dungeon Siege, and Postal didn't make you sick enough, he's now got a new film in the works that is likely to put you over the edge. To put it mildly, the director has been less than praised for his work covering videogames, so don't expect his future film that covers one of the worst atrocities in world history to be the next Schindler's List.

As evidenced by a new trailer available to the public, Uwe Boll has decided to change his focus from videogames to Auschwitz, a network of World War II Nazi concentration camps. All that's known of the movie is what's shown in the trailer, which looks to have a serious tone with the message of "Never Forget," though I don't think it's really pulling it off.

Boll even gave himself a part in the movie as a guard. In the trailer, he's shown standing outside of one of Auschwitz's holding rooms, as captives bang on the door. It's really disturbing and gruesome, showing the types of things that went on at Auschwitz, but if you really want to see it (NSFW, or kids, or anyone with a gentle stomach), it's viewable here.

I know that quite a few people got upset when Boll took on the subject of Bloodrayne, so I can imagine the kind of ire he'll raise with a movie about Auschwitz. It's almost insane for a man to go from directing a movie about a videogame series where a cat's anus is used as a gun silencer to one of the most horrifying atrocities of human history. Is there any chance of this movie not being terribly disrespectful, coming from Boll?

I...um...well...
At least he's not trying to ruin another video game movie.
This...still have me very terrified. I dislike someone who's skilled at one type of holocaust trying to cover a completely different type.

Someone needs to drag this guy out behind the chemical shed and shoot him.

Oh goodness, say it isn't so... I mean, I'm sure Boll's a decent guy, and I've nothing against him, but didn't much like his previous works. As you can imagine, I'm a bit nervous at how he's going to tackle this delicate subject that is the Holocaust. I'll try and keep an open mind, but... I fear this may be cringe-worthy... =/

Oh sweet Jesus....no...just...god. Can we please take a collective vote as a nation to just murder this man before the movie comes out? Please?!?!

Burning a baby? He's making a film where at one scene you see FLAMES on a BABY? This must be the biggest bollocked director in history.

Uwe Boll sickens.

..Sounds about right.

I for one am eager to see how Uwe portrays the Jewish Ninja resistance as they battle the otherworldly terrors that the evil Nazis have summoned.....................yea

He might be a terrible director, but, you know, he isn't a horrible person. And his last movie actually didn't suck.

I'm pretty sure Doctor Boll is out of his mind, but I hope he's not crazy enough to turn this subject into a platform for a horrendous torture movie.

Looks to be hoping to achieve success through shock value, as opposed to treating its subject matter respectfully. At least with Postal he attempted (and succeeded at points) to make it a parody.

It sure is... a different movie about the Holocaust. Ah well, maybe it's the biggest wonder in the history of film... or not.

Eleima:

No. He is really not.

Do me a favour, people of the Escapist. Do not go see this movie. Do not give this prick money to continue making movies.
He's not just ruining games anymore. He is insulting the memories of everyone who suffered in concentration camps.

Sorry, what was that about a cat's anus?

The part of this I find most intriguing in the part about the cat's anus. Does that really happen in Bloodrayne? I might have to actually play it now.

Anyway, I don't see what the fuss is about. He wants to make a gorey, gruesome film and is going to use subject matter that people are going to get riled up about for publicity. If he made a film about 11/9 would everyone be as pissed at him?

Auschwitz is fair game. He wouldn't be the first to make a B-movie about Nazi atrocities. "Ilsa, She-Wolf Of The SS" went there as did dozens of other such films from the late 60s onward, some serious, some not... in worst-case scenario this film won't be any more or less remarkable than any of those films were...

People are just anti-Boll and that's all there is to it. As a B-movie fan I think Uwe Boll's films are mostly pretty entertaining and I'm really interested to see him try his hand at something more serious. I also love the irony of him as an SS guard standing outside the showers, it's metaphorically what he's doing to all his haters just by having the audacity to release a serious film like this, and you can bet the always media-savvy Uwe is acutely aware of this, hence that scene's inclusion in the promo...

At school I do believe he was know as Jupiter balls and had to walked like John Wayne.

This is............ I don't know what this is. I feel like I'm looking at the devil helping a old lady across the street. Is he going to see her to the other side or is he going to bum rape her over the front bonnet of a car.

I fear the worst. Up until now, Uwe Boll has just made bad movies about games. As much as most of us hate hi for this, it has at least done no real damage. But making a film about the Holocaust some kind of sick torture movie based on its shock value, and this is sadly what I expect it to be, is really just disrespectful.
Why would any half sane man do this?

Boll's been improving as a director. I think he can tackle this.

This is also looking more like Passion of the Christ than Shindler's List if you ask me.

Oh... bloody... hell.

I'm really interested to see just how bad this could possibly be. Like a train wreck you can't look away from.

If we kill him before this comes out, would that count as murder, or saving the human race?

Badazzninja:

You need to calm down and get a hold of yourself, as does everyone who is immediately putting this movie down.

For one, there is no way Uwe Boll will have a career anymore if he makes a disrespectful Auschwitz movie.

Two, this isn't a video game movie so he doesn't have any leeway to screw up the story.

I do hope he wont compare hes film with Schindler's List if he does then he is a fool.

Hey now. After watching Postal I am willing to give Uwe another chance.
For all we know this could be absolute comedy gold!
Hell even the trailer is amusing with Boll being a guard since he funded most his movies on stolen nazi gold.
True story.

I liked Postal, it had the kid from The Christmas Story in it, and it had some laughs. It was crazy over the top and pretty good I thought. Im worried he might go over the top with this one, and not in the good way Postal did. Im not going to judge till it comes out, having bad work in the past doesnt mean all of his work is bad so who knows, this may be a masterpiece

'Never Forget' does not mean using such a sensitive subject as cheap low-rent sensationalist 'entertainment.' I'm sickened.

Well...at the very least, you can say that he doesn't have balls.

Wow just wow a German film maker known best for his horrible video game adaptations and wiliness to add tasteless content into his films is making what looks like a hostel style torture film about the Auschwitz Nazi death camp. I see lynch mobs in his future.

I wonder what the commentary will be like, after all, Uwe's commentaries are like two movies in one!

Once again...

Who gives him the money for this stuff?

Zhukov:

He is abusing loopholes so that he always makes money on his films, whether they bomb or not.

Have you, by any chance, seen the Saw films? Because they have nothing going for them besides being 'sick torture' movies.

I think Uwe Boll kind of gets a bum rap from people. Let's not deceive ourselves into thinking that Postal, Bloodrayne, and Farcry had great source material for a movie director to work with. Sure Bloodrayne was awful, but Kristanna Loken did get naked, so not a complete loss. Postal was actually kind of fun if viewed properly.

That aside, not sure how many have actually seen Uwe Boll's "Rampage", but it's actually a good movie. Not a good movie for Uwe Boll, but a good movie in general. If Rampage is any indication than Auschwitz should be fairly disturbing and make everyone feel pretty uncomfortable, as well it should.

I think it's a good move for him (and for us all) that he moves away from video game movies, gamers are just hyper-defensive and damn near impossible to please.

If you were trying to make him look worse you failed utterly, because I for one find it funny as hell that he challenges his critics to boxing matches.

I think peoples mileage may vary in this regard. I for one find the idea of a holocaust parody so over the top that it crosses the line twice rather then just once thus making it hilarious as a result.

Its still a German man making torture porn out of the fucking Auschwitz Death camp, You can't just giggle that away with the "Well it's suppose to make people uncomfortable" argument.
and before anyone asks "well why are you making such a big deal about his nationality ?"
trust me it is a big deal. I myself am part German and I know of at least one of my relatives that was an SS officer and I makes me sick, strangely on that same side of the family I have Jewish blood in me as well because the brother of the SS officer married a Jewish woman fled to America and had children.
