Halo-Themed Animated Series Follows Obsessed Fan

Halo-Themed Animated Series Follows Obsessed Fan

A new official Halo animated series is coming, but it won't exactly be following the likes of Master Chief.

343 Industries and Powerhouse Animation are currently working on a new animated series for Halo Waypoint called Apt. 117 that will follow an obsessed Halo fan and his roommate. The series' first trailer has definitely nailed what a truly obsessed Halo fanatic is like, but I'm not quite sure yet if the show will be worth watching.

In the past, Powerhouse Animation has worked on other properties like Penny Arcade and Clerks. 343 Industries is Microsoft's new internal division handling Halo in Bungie's absence.

I have no doubt in my mind that there are Halo fans right now sitting in the bathtub trumpeting Halo music through a cardboard tube just like this fellow here. I've seen people in real life with Halo tattoos that cover more than just their heart. Remaking Halo weaponry in one's own house just like this guy's Needler nailgun has not only happened, but it's kind of awesome. As far as I can tell, 343 and Powerhouse aren't insulting anyone here, despite the nudity.

Maybe I'm crazy, but this might be something I'd actually take a look at when it eventually comes out. It's at least a new kind of officially licensed videogame animated series. Hey, even if it's bad, maybe in one episode the Halo fan will try to build a jetpack and splatter himself all over the street.

...surprisingly enough, I may actually wind up watching this. I know people like that guy.

I'd watch it.

Mmmokey... Looks... Interesting...

It looked quite funny when I saw the trailer before. I think I shall watch it.

I fear this will just further the stereotype of hard core halo fans. but if its in good humor I won't mind

I'm not sure how they're going to get enough plot for more than a couple episodes out of that idea.

Oh yeah that popped up last night on way point. But hopefully it doesn't end like Clerks the show did.

I thought it looked funny as less of an accurate representation of Halo fanboys, and a more of a parody of the image some people have given them.

I'm the biggest Halo fanboy I know, but I admit it has its faults and I don't call someone a fag for playing Modern Warfare 2. And I find teabagging artocious...

But maybe that makes it so I'm not a fanboy and I'm just a hardcore Halo fan? O_o

I'd give it a watch, but I genuinely find the idea of making such a show really stupid.

Can I get that needler?

Certainly looks more entertaining than "Game Dogs"
CANCEL THAT SERIES ALREADY

I'd cancel that show!

Looks amusing, and I did like the Clerks cartoon, I think I'll give it a watch when its about.

I will probably watch it.

Looks potentially funny

The first episode is on Halo.bungie.org if you want to watch it.

This series is quite a lot of win indeed.

Grabbing at Straws: the series

Looks very mediorce. I could see the halo fan base liking it or hating it. I Personally don't see the appeal.

looks interesting

No, make another series in the halo universe and make it serious!.

Agreed.

"Would an idiot build a Needler out of a nail gun?"

I don't know, would an idiot bring that same aforementioned Needler with him into the bathtub? Probably.

Right now it looks kind of iffy, but then again these are the same guys that made Clerks the Animated Series, so it might still be worth a look.

... then again, they didn't do any of the writing on Clerks, so yeah...

Id watch it!
Even if only to see what are the clues on being obssesed fan! Now my idea of getting a horde totatoo on my shoulder when i get ripped doesnt sound so cool -_-`

The first episode is allready out there. It's kinda funny actually, heh.

I agree, but I think it will further the sterotype regardless of it being in good humor or not, because some will take it seriously, as there is always someone.
And as for the article saying that it perfectly describes a Halo fanboy is far off its chart. I mean, an obese, out of job looser, with no respect for his roomate's obligations? Doesn't sound like a Halo fanboy to me. Sounds like an obese middle aged looser that happens to like Halo games. I find it insulting that Halo fans everywhere is the butt of a joke to market Halo to non-fans.

I find it a little sad that the ones now in charge of the Halo franchise produce stuff like this than any actual Halo media, like novels or games, or at the least a series based in-universe, but I guess it's all a marketing trick, as it always is.

It's so bad! Yet I feel strangely drawn to it...
I can think of people I know who would be easier to shop with if I made it seem like a competitive game of some sort.

Now, I'm not a Halo fan. In fact, I couldn't give less of a shit about anything Halo related. However, this seems funny. Might watch it.

I was sold by that "Would an idiot make a needler out of a nailgun?" line.

Agreed.

As much as it sucks, it won't ever happen. It's the brainchild of the Escapist's editor. So it'd take some serious self-awareness to can your own series.

On Topic: Looks like it could be real funny, the animators/writers certainly have the pedigree to make it work. I just don't know how rich a well for humor Halo really is.

Agreed. It was the rare occasion that something MADE to be funny was funny.

Meh, might watch it, will probably end up forgetting.

i know a person who pretty much is that guy!
seriously i cant wait to show him this!

I just saw the first episode, didnt like it. It just seems to be boring and annoying, maybe a hardcore halo fan wil enjoy it more.

Because it is so funny. THAT is why you are drawn to it. Humor always wins over anything!!!!
