Last Two Potter Films Getting 3D Blu-Ray Treatment
Last Two Potter Films Getting 3D Blu-Ray Treatment ![]() Warner Bros. announced today that it will release the last two Harry Potter films in 3D when they come out on Blu-Ray. After pulling the plug on a 3D conversion for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 due to worries that it would not be completed for its November 19th release date, Warner Bros. said that it has employed Prime Focus to do a 3D conversion of the last two films: Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince. The studio isn't saying when to expect such a conversion to be completed, giving Prime Focus time that it didn't have for Clash of the Titans. Both Prime Focus and WB got flack for the botched 3D conversion of Clash, and that's not something either want to repeat. The lack of a hard deadline or public release date will allow the conversion to be given as much time as it needs. Even though director David Yates is concentrating on editing Deathly Hallows without worrying about 3D conversion just yet, it's probably a good bet that all four Yates' directed films will get a 3D conversion. We still don't know about years One through Four but such a conversion would likely need input from the directors of those films (Chris Columbus, Mike Newell and Alfonso Cuaron.) I'm not sure that all movies need to be released in 3D, but the visual-heavy Harry Potter series like a perfect fit for the 3D eye candy. Such an experience might be OK in the home, with an expensive TV and heavy glasses, but I hope that WB re-releases the earlier films all in 3D in time for the last film: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. That way, I can have a massive 3D viewing session. And then throw up from vertigo... Source: Variety
I'm not bothered about 3D, but I'm wondering how late I can hold off on part 1 to limit gap between it and part 2.
I don't care as long as 3D is an option and not the option. Stupid 3D...it gives me motion sickness.
Meh. 3D shouldn't be the primary option for anything these days, in my opinion. It may work for gimmicky things like the 3DS and 3D porn (heh, that still makes me laugh), but other than that? I don't think so.
Enough with 3D already, I don't like stuff being thrown at me, it's very distracting.
Meh, the first movie was good, the second was the best, the third was okay, then the movies just went downhill from there. I haven't even seen the Half-Blood Prince movie. I don't see 3D bringing back that original spark that made Harry Potter interesting to watch. I liked the books, but I think I've moved on from Harry Potter now. Now it's all about RINCEWIND!! :D
Brilliant, I just got a 3D tv and its amazing. This is good news!
Great. Except it's going to be that cheesy 3D rather than the stereoscopic 3D Avatar used...
Will it make the movies watchable? I highly doubt it. Stupid gimmicks.
For the love of fucking god, stop with this 3D non-sense. This makes me download a torrent of the movie when it's released. I was willing to pay for "despicable me" and the only thing I could watch it in was pure 3D. Surely they done a good job but a fucking eye-strain nevertheless. I hate it when they are blocking out 2D and I certainly hope they aren't doing the same thing over here or else you can kiss my money goodbye. I give up on 3D movies from now on unless the glasses can go. The only 3D experience worth it is Avatar no doubt.
Whenever I hear "3D conversion" that makes me cringe.
Rincewind and Death: I'm with you brother.
