Nintendo Doesn't Want DSi Associated With Porn

... What? Double standards FTL.

...To be fair, I don't think anyone was ever going to associate Nintendo with porn... XD

This reminds me of when Nintendo fought about blood in games (aka Mortal Kombat). I think they're the same people who griped about Gameshark too. Let it go Nintendo.

This pretty much sums up Nintendo's positions on any use of their IPs.

Remember kids. There is no "Fair Use" of Nintendo's properties, just ask them! Seriously, I'm amazed that "There Will Be Brawl" didn't get slapped with a C&D.

Well, thanks to the wonder of rule 34, soon there will be porn of people being threatened by Nintendo.

I´ve seen the pics and it seems pretty obvious that the brand is being exploited here. Few people would be actually seeing those specific pics if it wasnt for the inclusion of the console. Otherwise, it´d be just ordinary porn.
BUT!! Nintendo is to blame too. Few would find the pics if Nintendo didnt make a fuss about it. I would never know they even existed!

I think Nintendo has a right to be mad. They want to be kid friendly and family based. Warping their product for porn related matters slowly kills their image! They should take all of it down!

Thunderhorse31:
I suppose it's inappropriate to ask for a link to the offending gallery in question. I'd look it up myself, but, uh, I'm not that desperate.

<opens Google>

Or you could have follow the Link to the original post which had a link to the offending gallery.... What? Don't look at me like that, I wanted to see if it was any good.

Rule 34, Some time I really like that rule, and then there is other times where I wish I had never discovered the internet...

Kilgengoor:

Also, let's not forget this is a licensed Nintendo game.

Nintendo did not license that. It was a home-brew.

OT: Nintendo is in the right. They can and should control how their products are view in the public.

Mr. Omega:
You can't fight rule 34. I wish you could, but it's not gonna happen.

Here's the thing though, I break rule 34. There is no porn of me on the internet. I also break Rule 35, because NO ONE wants to make porn of me.

You're several years too late to be saying you don't want any porn related to you nintendo

Google safe-search; this is why it exists! Honestly, if you search Nintendo DSi you will have a hard time finding porn on medium safe-search. Even your still worried, turn it up to strict safe-search. I've never seen a search engine without some kind of result filter, trying to protect your company from association with porn in this manner is essentially pointless.

I had a look at the porn in question, its pretty softcore stuff.

Gilhelmi:

And you are right my good sir. Messed it up, already fixed it with the proper game (Doki doki Majo Shinpan!). Thanks anyway.

BOO HOO HOO NINTENDO. YOU DON'T GET ALL THE MONEY.

Well, I do give them some credit. They probably could have asked for the picture, or the whole gallery, to be removed. And they probably would have gotten their way.

Thank you, Nintendo. Thank you for standing up for yourself without stepping on others. I wish more corporations would do the same.

Yeah, of course, Nintendo, blame the website and not ignorant parents who refuse to setup internet content filtering.

Looks at title without reading OP, HAHA TOO BAD!
looks at Op in 10 sec.. Yep, still HAHA
rule 34 (and 63) aren't going to go away, so be a Manly corporation and suck it up!

if a person or company makes a product, they have every right to control how it is presented, i fail to see the problem here

so girls posing naked with dsi is the exclusive right of shigeru miyamoto's "special opening parties," and nothing else

I suppose Nintendo is "right" about the whole thing (as in; they have legal power to submit takedown notices to ANYTHING they see fit, compliance is a seperate question). But they're seriously fighting a losing battle there, not to mention; the more this happens, the more coverage it gets and the more likely it is for more porn to be made -.-

What are these rules people keep mentioning.

So far 34, 35, 63? But where can I read these rules?

That one lead to a 404 error message.

I hope nintendo doesn't know about rule 34 then... *ahem*.

Rule 34: If it exists, there is porn of it.
Rule 35: If there is no porn of it, it will be made.
Rule 63: For any given male character, there is a female version of that character.

Just Google A characters name, followed by "Rule 34/63".

OP: Sorry Nintendo, the Internet will not allow such things.

Nintendo is in for a big surprise if they think they can take on rule 34.

It's a force of the internet, much like a hurricane is a force of nature.

At best they might get Paheal and Aerisdies taken down, and then ten more will spring up, just like when someone thought it would be a grand idea to take down Napster.

I am fearful to ask what rules 1-33, an 36-62 are.

Hrm. Should this action really be considered "censorship"? I mean, it's not as if they are preventing the material from proliferating. It seems to me to be well within the bounds of "protecting their brand" by reducing unwanted correlations, which is kind of the purpose of branding/trademarks in the first place. If I had to guess if it went to court, I'd say Nintendo would win because it is not only their right but their duty to defend their brand and marks, and free speech doesn't even factor in because they aren't even challenging the material.

More specifically, "freedom" isn't license for anyone to do "whatever they want" - for instance, Nintendo has the freedom to build their own brand (unless of course it conflicts with more powerful freedoms, such as freedom of press).

Long story short, I don't see why this is a big deal. At all.

If I gave you my photo, your screen would explode (you have no idea how much duct tape is on mine).

Warning, these are meme-tastic.

If Nintendo doesn't wanna be associated with porn, then they're gonna have to wage total war on Rule 34. And even then, Rule 35 would be implemented.

Woah, page 2 has some serious derailment going on.

Google search of, "Rules of the Internet".

There. Now let us never speak of this again.

This isn't censorship, I'm very much against censorship but I have no problem with this. All they are asking is don't use tags and descriptions related to Nintendo's products on your porn site. There is no reason to do so, unless they actually are trying to capitalize on their products popularity to get hits, which would be doing something wrong. Otherwise it doesn't affect them at all to remove those words, but leaving them does piss of Nintendo.

You've forced my hand. I just made porn of your forum avatar instead. It's technically an image which represents you, so crisis averted imo.

Obviously the forum's rules prevent me from linking it though.
