Earthrise Coming Into Orbit in 2011

Good news for all you sci-fi MMO fans: Earthrise is still alive and kicking, and it's coming out soon.

It's been a while since anything's been heard about Earthrise, the post-apocalyptic MMO from Masthead Studios. It turns out the game is not only still in development, but it's pretty close to completion, as the developer has named a definite release date.

The Bulgaria-based developer revealed that the game will be coming out (via digital distribution) on February 4, 2011:

"The Masthead team is thrilled for the fans who have been following Earthrise closely to now be able to play the game that they have been so eagerly awaiting," said Atanas Atanasov, producer of Earthrise and director of Masthead Studios. "We have worked incredibly hard to make Earthrise the best sandbox MMORPG on the market, and we can't wait for players to fully experience all of our hard work and become immersed in Enterra."

For those of you who aren't familiar with Earthrise, the game's "a post-apocalyptic, sci-fi MMORPG set in the distant future." Masthead is promising that the game will feature a sandbox-style game experience, with something for both casual and hardcore gamers. Exactly how players will pay for the game remains to be seen; last year, Atanasov hinted that a subscription-free model like that used in Guild Wars might be used, but the release date announcement doesn't make mention of this.

I've learned never to believe hype about MMORPG's. This will be another game like WoW, Warhammer, Aion and all those games.

The only MMO that I'm excited about is DC Universe Online.

Never heard of it. As for the adverti- er, picture, meh, she's no Miranda.

i remember hearing about this game ages ago. really looking forward to seeing how the skill system works, reminds me of the old school SWG system. i know it's another MMO so i shouldn't hold high hopes for it, but I am anyway.

Lol im bulgarian and accidentally i know 1 guy from the dev team ^_^
Tho i never talk with him about the game im not rly hyped about it. It looks great if the screenshots are to be believed but meh . . . .everything looks awesome nowadays.

That woman's ass is repulsing...

I never going to let myself get hyped with screenshots/words/trailers alike for any MMORPG anymore. It's all the same basic unappealing grind underneath. WoW - Cata' made a nice turn-around, changing the world based on your progression on quest and the like. Diverse quests as well.

Perfect example.

Seems more like it's attracting. As in, its gravitational force is pulling her pants inward. Also, the top picture on that Joystiq page has a monster that looks fairly similar to a nosalise from Metro 2033.

The game itself looks rather interesting, but open PvP with corpse looting is not my thing. You just know that ganking will be the order of the day, especially if they go subscription-free.

Not to be nit-picky about this, but there is no indication the game will be B2P, it is simply a misunderstanding of what a non-native English speaker said.

Edit: proof in case some don't believe me.

Im just reminded of Neocron... that didnt end too gracefully.

Does anyone even have high anticipations for this game because judging by this gameplay footage, it looks like a load of crap. As for me, I'm waiting for the highly anticipated Guild Wars 2 and for good reason.
