Rumor: Aliens Will Be In Ridley Scott's New Movie
Rumor: Aliens Will Be In Ridley Scott's New Movie ![]() A new rumor has popped up about Ridley Scott's new movie, stating that it will feature his iconic aliens. Who knows what's actually true at this point? It was recently announced that Ridley Scott's Alien prequel wouldn't actually have any real connection to the sci-fi franchise that he helped establish. Well, it turns out that may not be the case: Rumors are claiming that the movie will feature the Xenomorph Aliens. According to Sky, a source that's close to the production is claiming, "They've built the 'space jockey' cockpit at Pinewood as seen in the original Alien film, so it definitely takes place in the same world as Alien ... Despite that press release that seemed to indicate there were no aliens in the movie, the familiar HR Giger-style aliens do appear. Big ones, apparently." The movie is also reportedly shooting in Morocco, featuring an archaeological dig that will be a large part of the film's plot. The "Alien DNA" that was mentioned by Ridley Scott in a previous interview might also be a big story element. I'm calling it: There are too many rumors surrounding this film project to figure out what's true and what's not. Ridley Scott clearly needs to just sit down with me for a chat so we can clear everything up and I can get about half my movie collection autographed by the man. Source: Sky via Den of Geek
I hope they are in it. I adore the design and when done right. (see the first 2 movies) they're a joy to watch on screen. Plus I'd love to get some official none predator tripe back story on the species themselves.
I so want this to be a proper Alien movie, not some shared universe spin-off thing. If anyone can repair the damage done to the franchise by those terrible AvP movies, Ridley Scott can do it. Make them scary again, Ridley!
Oh no. No no no. I sincerely hope the movie won't involve an archaeological dig site on EARTH with alien DNA. I have a feeling that would destroy the fact that we're talking about "aliens", ya know.... Actual STRANGERS to this world... But hey, he does what he wants with his movie.
Ah no, it's not going to take place on Earth is it? Lame! I'm also a bit worried about the fact that the Ridley Scott we know now isn't really the same guy he used to be when he made Alien and Blade Runner.
I still cant inmagine how they got two of the most iconic movie monsters of Science Fiction in one movie and it still sucked balls. Both Alien and Predator where rated R and werent that gory but still enough to justify its rating. Giving it a PG-13 rating was just horrid. Did they think Alien and Predator where kids movies? Honestly most kids probably never heard of Alien nor Predator since both movies are pretty damn old. (But still classics!) Ridley Scott is the only saving grace for the Alien franchise right now. But after Robert Rodriguez butchered the Predator franchise with his Predators movie. (Dont tell me its good it sucked balls) I want to keep my expetations low so I wont be severly dissapointed like I was with Predator/AVP/AVPR.
I heard they may not have the original alien design as it has no impact anymore. An they may be redesigning it a bit. As long as HR Giger is doing the design work then it should work.
This looks like it's going to be pretty epic. Wonder what it's going to actually end up as... :D
I get that same feeling when I think about George Miller and Mad Max 4: Fury Road. This also involves a good deal of denial that Beyond Thunderdome ever happened.
I haven't seen Predators yet, though I only consider the original Predator to be a good movie in that particular franchise, whereas all 4 of the Alien movies have some redeeming features: yes, even the 3rd and the 4th. Fear the worst, hope for the best.
.........You know what, considering how many contradictory rumors that are going all over the place, I'm just going to ignore anything about this film untill it is released and there are some reviews for it, so that I will finally figure out what movie Scott ends up actually doing.
Ridley Will Be in Scott's New Aliens Movie I want this headline.
If they've built the 'space jockey' then the Aliens have to be involved. I'm sure the movie will chronicle the ship as it picks up or grows the Alien species and its subsequent spiral into chaos and crash on LV-426. If so, it should be pretty good. Also I thought Giger's wife confirmed he was going to be working with Ridley on the movie, surely this is some indication its going to be Alien related? I'm banking on it being an Alien movie even if it takes 3/4 of the film for them to actually appear.
If Giger is doing it, he may just make the alien an anorexic man with a giant penis for a head and a heavy Freudian complex. Or he could make another really cool creature of death. I think it could go either way.
You mean Ripley, right?
Those cocking AvP films already slapped a load of Aliens, predators and *RAGE* Predaliens in ancient mayan civilizations. I sincerely hope Ridley Scott has the sense to ignore those films that pissed all over his franchise.
So tere's a chance the Alien movie will have aliens after all?
Ugh. Please. Don't. That franchise was already murdered from Alien:Resurrection and those godawful AvP.

Ridley Scott. A master-mind director that will be able to bring back the good fun that was the original Alien movies. But yes, there are a lot of rumours going around.
It was good. OP: but yeah I wish Mr. Scott well with the movie. He is one of my favorite directors, and I have faith that he will deliver.
A few flaws with the Predators movie. I must admit though the acting was quite decent and the characters were likeable. The screenset was also pretty great. The forest had a nice feel to it. All in all they did some things right but most of it was a dissapointment to me. If there ever is a sequel I hope RR has learned from these mistakes and can give a truly great Predator movie. I have to admit the acting was decent though and the characters
Yeah fair enough. I wish there was more pred on pred fighting then there was. And the super pred was a bit odd looking.
I remember watching Alien when I was 8. I didn't sleep properly for days, it scared the holy crap out of me. I even tend to not watch horror in general these days. But it was a an awesome film, utterly amazing, the modeling on the spaceships, the Alien designs were truly alien and most certainly gave the desired effect on my colon. The biggest question in my head after watching it again recently was "WTF is that giant alien in the seat?" I MUST KNOW. Hearing that this new film may answer that question has amplified my anticipation massively, I don't care if Predators are there or not.
I heard somewhere that Ridley from Metroid was named after the director. For the fun of completing the circle, I would endorse a Ridley-esque creature appearing in an Alien film, but nothing so outlandish as the fire-breathing pterodactyl himself.
Hilarious. You and John Funk are my favorite writers on the staff. Good stuff. As for these rumors, eh I'm reminded of the matrix rumors from a few days ago. I think you're taking the smart stance not getting too excited one way or the other.
I'm just happy they are actually building sets and shooting on location. Who's to say the shooting on location in Morocco is meant to be Earth?
As long as James Cameron keeps his sticky, fumbling, inept fingers away from the project, I shan't complain.
I'd say Resurrection is the second-best film in that franchise.
Here's an idea. | |
There is always room for redemption. Predators was good even though the AVP series was butchered.
I believe the xenomorph is constantly evolving depending on it's host (Re: Alien 3). I think any 'Alien' in the new movies (if this is intended to be a prequel) will be of an earlier evolutionary state than what we're used to and, therefore, different.
Taking key from several posts here. So a few ethical quandries and some archaic science. Put the Sci back into Sci fi :)
There seems to be more of reporting on Rumours recently around here, slow news times? I don't believe any film rumours until they come straight from the peoples mouthes. I don't even care if it has Aliens or not, I want them to stop throwing all this info around and just go make a movie. Also, I liked Predators a lot, it gave me some hope for the future of the franchise.
"Dear God, I may not believe in you 99% of the time, but if you are there, please convince Ridley that aliens can still be cool (just so long as he or Cameron are making the movie)" I'd really love this, since the xenomorphs are about the coolest interpretation of near-human aliens I've ever seen, and the series has been kinda funky ever since the abortions that the prequels were, so... please please please let this be true.
Eh...as long as its a good movie, doesn't matter if there are alien in it or not. Having said that, it seems less likely to be good if its the continuation of a rather old franchise. It may have worked once, or more than once, some time ago. That doesn't mean it's going to keep working.
Would be nice to see Ridley take the franchise back over. Maybe we could get a Alien movie with a story again... and shot in a fashion that doesn't look like a MTV music video.
