Of all games to remake... All the ones that need graphic overhauls, updated mechanics, 1080p, new cutscenes, and a second chance at a solid audience...

Why remake this one?

And now to make you feel sad I will list more appropriate games.

Okami, Shadow Of The Colossus, Ace Combat 5, Soul Calibur 2 ... Choo Choo Rocket.

I'm honestly not surprised, but the FF7 fans might be pissed, the xbox owners get their flagship title before playstation owners can get theirs.

I like Halo and it was the first FPS game I ever really played so it does hold a special place for me.

That being said a re-make now seems too soon I'd think you'd want to let the industry grow more that one generation so the upgrade would be worth more, It would be like if Nintendo released an updated Mario or Zelda on every conso.....oh right.

well you can't blame them if they copy a formula that works.

This. I actually enjoyed Halo up to the point where the Flood were revealed. After that, well, let's say I wish this franchise would burn in the pits of hell.

I actually enjoyed the tension that The Flood brought to the game (the original, that is), though they did get boring in the latter games.

I'm glad they weren't in Halo: Reach.

I really do hope that there is a HCE remake.

Pretty much all I have to say on the matter...I might buy it, depends what all they add. If it's just an HD remake I probably won't buy it full price, but if they atleast add multiplayer...that would be worth it.

Why remake this one?

Because this game is fantastic.

Woodsey:
Is this to show people that they really have been playing the same game for the past 10 years?

I mean, WHY? If you insist on carrying on with Halo, do something new with it for once.

You know what? I'm not going to even bother listing all the new features that Halo 3 and Halo Reach have brought to Halo like the Armory, Forge, Forge World, Theater Mode, Armor Abilities and other stuff, nor am I going to mention that Halo: Combat Evolved did many things new for gaming. I am also not going to mention the fact that the same could be said for every franchise from Fallout (1/2 and 3/NV), Left 4 Dead, Half Life or any other popular franchise. I will not mention any of the things I just mentioned at all.

Anton P. Nym:
I'll believe it when I see it, either on the shelves or announced by 343 Industries. A rumour from an anonymous source means about as much to me as a Bat Boy sighting.

Frankly, though, I don't see the point. All the expense of redoing the imagery for the same ol' gameplay, when the original title is still playable on the same hardware as the remake. It just seems superfluous to me... and even with my die-hard Halo fan credentials I won't be buying a shinier version of a game I already have and love.

Even with Online Co-Op and perhaps other features like H1 online MP and forge on the classic maps? Are you sure about that? A High-Res version of Classic Blood Gulch?

I'm gonna go ahead and say what everyone thinks LAME.

Hi, I didn't know you could read minds!

Wait, why would you have to remake Shadow of the Colossus? It's still a beautiful and fun game and I don't see how much good a remake could do. Halo on the other hand could have online multiplayer.

Grey_Focks:

My thoughts exactly.

I would probably buy it, if it were sold for around £5 but I never played a game after Halo 2, so I'm kinda out of the loop with all the new advances they have made. I feel like the story of Halo has been told, there is nothing new really to add, so they might as well update the old game, and maybe fix the few problems it had (repetitive levels) as do some vaguely related side-stories that we already know about.

If they retconn the stupid bloody Flood out of existence I'm all for it.

This. I actually enjoyed Halo up to the point where the Flood were revealed. After that, well, let's say I wish this franchise would burn in the pits of hell.

Also, it would be nice if you got to play Halo 1 from the viewpoint of the Covenant. But that would require work and dedication.

The flood were my favourite part of Halo, I considered the game a completely generic FPS shooter until that change of pace, where it turned into a mild survival horror, (and me being 12 it scared the everloving crap out of me) I thought it was clever.

Because it is a reliable bread bowl.

One word: FANBOYS!

Damn them.

Now I have to ask: Was anyone suprised by this??
I was certain that a new game/remake/pc port would come in the close future.

I'll get it. I'll get the Legendary edition of it... just like 3, Wars and Reach. I can't help it--

Wait. Did you say November of this year? B-b-b-but SKYRIM. Damn. My life will be dead at the end of the year.

Oh, and ReCaptcha, I can't type letters sideways.

[quote="standokan" post="7.262660.9918361"]I'm gonna go ahead and say what everyone thinks LAME.

Hi, I didn't know you could read minds!

Well probably not everyone no sorry, but I just don't think that Bunjee'll be able to pull it off and that it'll become the "old Starwars, NOW IN 3D" of games. At this point I don't have much to go at, maybe it'll be better than the original but my experience with these kind of things tells me that the possibilty of degrading the original is "likely".

Oh great, I can't wait to play a remake of a remake, then when I get bored, I'll just wait for the remake of that remake!

Sometimes a particular idea should just be allowed to die.

This is an example of that.

And why am I not surprised? When you run out of ideas this is what happens. I can see this appeal to Halo fans and no one else really.

Oh you Xboxers, you so crazy.

Actually, I'd buy CoD4 again and that's already from this generation.

LOL

Thank god Bungie washed their hands of it.

The game doesn't need a reboot. Shamless moneyhunger.

Oh look who I'm talking about. Of course it is.

I have no shame in saying that if this game turns out to look great, this is a day-one purchase from me. I'd love to see what else they do to this update.

And so it begins. We'll be hearing about a remake of Halo 2 before we know it, I tells yas!

*shrug*

I'll buy it. I'll play it. I'll enjoy it.

I'd like to see the armour abilities make an appearance. They're awesome.

Also, if this does come out on the anniversary, it's my 19th birthday present.

In conclusion; yay!

Why remake this one?

Because it will make a lot of money.

I don't understand how sequels and remakes of insanely popular games with a die hard fan base are hard to understand?

Games are expensive to make, really expensive; so a remake of such a popular game would be easy money. Sure, we can argue about art all we want, but for the most part the big name companies make video games to make money.

You forgot the pony.

Seriously, though, there are no facts in evidence suggesting anything that you listed there is coming... and only the "high-res version of Classic Blood Gulch" is even suggested by the article. Redoing the netcode to allow online co-op and H1 online multiplayer, and the huge revision of the game engine that'd be required to put Forge into the old game, are not only beyond the scope of a "Halo: HD" quickie retread but would also jack up the price. (Perhaps even back into the "new release" territory that'd have the fanbase whining again about teh eBil M$.)

Besides, I can get a lot of the above in one form or another by dusting off my old copy of Halo: Custom Edition. The fan-base has had se7en years to tinker with it and have made some astonishing creations in their spare time, all downloadable to my PC for nada.

PS: grumble-mutter-reCaptcha-[profanity elided]

it really begs the question... why? Why do we need to remake this title...?

Zanez:

Why remake this one?

a while ago wasnt there a article on some kinecthalo thin?

I like this idea... I'm going to leave this hate filled thread now.

While I do predict a Halo 1 remake, I can no on this one. Why? Because reach just came out in 2010, and I think they intend to allow nostalgia to build up before making their next move.

EDIT:

Why do you feel so strongly against the Flood? I found them to be the best part of the enitre universe. And I do want a game where you are an Sangheli on Harvest, but in Halo 1 I don't think that it would be all that great as you know you are going to loose. (Very obsucre refrence gets a very obscure cookie.)

I'm sorry... this is a STUPID idea. I mean, the game's not even that OLD and it still looks good. Why does there have to be a remake? Just because it's the 10 year anniversary? Hell, isn't the original Halo one of the few XBox Original games that's backwards compatible with the 360? Seriously... what the hell's the POINT in remaking it? At least wait until we're a couple generations away from the XBox before re-releasing the game.

Granted, I'm not a big Halo fan, but my stance has nothing to do with why I think it's a stupid idea.

So what will they do water it down, shrink the levels and screw it up big time?

I always thought of the Halo series as a large money grab. Charging full prices for new games that aren't really all that improved, innovative, or different from the previous ones. Does this prove me right? Maybe, who knows.

WANT!

Also, if it doesn't come out for PC I'm going to fucking choke a bitch.
*ahem*

like a morrowind remake or a resident evil 2 remake or even unjammy lammy remake would make sense
but halo 1?
halo 1 was a pretty sick ass game tho

Im unsure of how to view this, I enjoyed the fuck out of halo but its a pretty long fps game, like around 12-15 hours, my main worry is they would end up cutting that down so it would be one of those stupid cod length games

Gonna buy it.I just get my 360 last year , and I am in love with the franchise. Maybe they will add content from the books. Havent played Halo 1 or 2 yet , so I will wait for the remake.

Remake Shadow in order to make a trade. PS'ers can get the Halo remake, and people with an Xbox (like myself) can get Shadow.

*sighs* realy is this all they can do. why the hell would i play this i already played the original. its going to take more than pretty graphics and new cutscenes to make me buy this.... well their has to be some new content to make buy it like. being able to play some new missions as the elites see their side of the conflict.
