Super Mario Propaganda Paints Plumbers As the Enemy

If Bowser ever had to mount a propaganda campaign against the Mario brothers, this is how he'd do it.

It wasn't a cakewalk for Bowser to recruit soldiers for the Koopa Troop. Trying to convince turtles to go after a flying, butt-stomping, fire-wielding plumber by walking straight at him on the ground is not an easy task. No, to convince an army to go up against an obviously far more powerful foe, Bowser had to wage a war of propaganda. Probably.

Fro Design claims it created these propaganda posters that aim to bring recruits into the Koopa Troop, but I bet they were just pulled off of walls and poles somewhere in the Mushroom Kingdom. After seeing the set of four, how could you not want to join up?

One depicts a cruel-looking version of Mario as he reaches his hand toward the land depicted in Super Mario World, as if to crush it between his fingers. Another shows Bowser in all his Koopa Clown Car glory nobly leading the Koopa Troop. The others aim to reduce the number of power-ups for Mario to find, and to encourage Koopa Troopas to fight even through death, as a Boo.

So find your local recruiting office today, and follow your leader's clown-faced hovercraft into battle. You won't regret it, until you actually see Mario and he takes you down just by jumping, best case scenario.

HEIL FUHRER BOWSER!

ha! this is pretty good!

I always liked the old propaganda art (don't get me wrong... I don't like the ideology behind it, just the art and absurdness of it), especially when it gets appropriated in ways such as this.

Where can I sign up?

FOR GLORY OF THE MUSHROOM (kingdom)!
I wonder how much Bowser had to shell out for this.

Princess Zelda and her evil reign must be stopped, by kidnapping her!

To paraphrase what I once said about Starship troopers:

Yay mushrooms, boo turtles.

I could have sworn this was posted as news just last week. Am I going crazy?

damn these are some good pics!

Awaiting snarky comment on how Mario really is bad and the series should die. I'm shocked someone hasn't made one yet.

OT: I lol'd when I first saw them. I lol'd now that I saw them again. Nice pics, props to the artist.

I lol'd at them making Mario look like Stalin. Though that's a bit of an old joke, still the high quality of these is hard to not enjoy.

"He who koops, and runs away, lives to Koop another day."

Mario's response to this grave insult to the people of the Mushroom Kingdom:

I knew it I knew bowser had communist propaganda at his side.

Asuka Soryu:

Wrong game bro.

I always wondered how Bowser kept getting new recruits. The propaganda inspired by Stalin probably helped...

HOOOOORAAAAHHH!!!

I was hoping these would be a suitable resolution for a wallpaper. :'(

I have the Boo one Favorited on my DeviantArt. The guy did a bunch of other really neat ones too, though I'm not sure if they're his, or they're just collections of stuff.
These are pretty awesome though. i kinda want some for my wall.

DUDE!!! That last pic is serious Nightmare Fuel! I don't think I look at Super Mario World the same way again, knowing that those haunted houses are full of ghosts of Koopas *I* killed.

Either I'm getting déjà vu, I've seen this on another site, or this was a repost.

Despite all that, these images are awesome =)

The object of war is not to die for your kingdom, it is to make the damn plumber die for his.

Those are really well done. Very reminiscent of World War I-era propaganda posters.

Wow, They are well done and a little funny too.

Though I can't understand how Koppas still join. They have to notice the constant defeats.

Holy shit, I cannot fully express how much I love these... I want them up on my wall.

In Koopa Kingdom, you don't eat power-ups. Power-ups eat you!

...that sounded way better before I typed it up...

Haha, I like the parody of Jack London's "Iron Heel" <3

While the old ones are good, the old fake ones are better.

I wish I could find the old department of psi ops poster. That was a good one. It seems my google fu has been crushed.

Mario's response to this grave insult to the people of the Mushroom Kingdom:

I don't even have the words to describe the awesomeness I just witnessed....

OT- Now if Bowser was really smart he would ally with all of the other misunderstood factions to become victorious over the plumbers. My faction, for one, would be happy to join forces.

Our cousins have expressed interest in an alliance as well.

So, um, where can I buy these from. :3

Those actually remind me of Soviet WWII propaganda posters... My mum has a small collection of some reprints.

Crap! I ment, Peach. The other blonde princess who has a castle with crappy security who gets kidnapped by an anthromorph and has to be rescued.

Very cool! I wonder what the Mushroom Kingdom's response to this would be, though...

Oh, man. I love these. Of course I have a "Big Brother is Watching You" poster right above the toilet in one of my bathrooms (the one that most guests use), so I love using propaganda art for comic purposes.

I'd buy one or two of these.

Haha these are awesome. I just wish they had done Bowser in the stylized way they did Mario.
