Watch Pro Gamers Do What They Do Best In Anaheim

Couldn't make it out to this weekend's Major League Gaming competition in Anaheim? We've got you covered.

Major League Gaming's Pro Circuit has come to the fair city of Anaheim for the weekend, bringing with it a slew of professional videogame players and even more spectators and unranked competitors. However, if traveling to Disneyland's hometown wasn't an option for you, you can still watch all the footage of the event as it unfolds.

This season of the Pro Circuit has three main titles in the competition: Call of Duty: Black Ops, Halo: Reach, and StarCraft 2. There's a lot of highly-ranked pros competing in the event this weekend; not surprising, since there's over $1 million in prize money at stake this weekend.

This is the third of five stops for the Pro Circuit, having already taken place in Dallas, Texas, and Columbus, Ohio. After this weekend, there will be two more Circuit events before the National Championships. The next stop for the Pro Circuit will be in Raleigh, North Carolina, from August 26-28 followed by Orlando, Florida from October 14-16; the final event will take place in Providence, Rhode Island from November 18-20.

Watching SC2 red stream right now, qxc is a beast!

Or watch the best fighting game players on the planet battle it out at Evo 2K11 as it's also running all weekend.

http://evo2k.com/live/

Stream 1 is MvC3 today and finals for every game on Sunday.
Stream 2 is Tekken 6 and BlazBlue today.

DAT NUKE by jinro, was both horrifying for the protoss player in me and glorifying in equal measures :D

The fact that Black Ops and not CoD4 or MW2 is being used for their competition just proves how utterly pointless MLG has become.

Even those games are pointless compared to the older Quake and UT games.

Who cares about those shooters anyway? It's all about SC2! :D

Shooters as a whole are really just ego-compensation. Same goes with PvP competition of any kind.

Now let's see them get out of being outnumbered/outskilled at Dungeon Fighter Online or Zombie Mode things.

Yeah, seriously. Those were much more satisfying to watch people playing at a competitive level, at least for me. Seeing the current list of games is kind of depressing, with only SC2 really catching my interest at all. I get that the other two are popular, but I don't find them as much fun to watch as the old-school shooters were (or to play, but that's a different matter entirely). It's also a little sad to see two shooters and zero fighting games. Times have changed, I guess.

Its really annoying that both are on the same weekend. Hopefully in future EVO and MLG will work it out so they're not conflicting with one another.

On another note, SlayerSBoxer is still a beast. All hail the Emperor! :D :D :D

Such a mark out moment, talk about two quality nukes; first the fully saturated base with the perfect double pronged harass/distraction and then the emergency defensive nuke taking out all the tier 3 units for the instant GG.

It's nice to see some e-sports news in here once in a while.

"Watch Pro Gamers Do What They Do Best In Anaheim"

I know you were just joking but the SC2 scene has some pretty "old" dudes tearing it up right now. Boxer and White-Ra will both be 31 this year they are doing great so far.

There are several other older players but those are two popular ones (Still kind of funny that at 30 they are considered old dudes).

Black Ops next to SC2?
That's like go-kart races next to 24 Hours of Le Mans.

I still fail to see how this is a sport? Does this mean Chess, buckaroo and Clue are also sports?

Yes, and they have been for ages...

DRG is too good for this event...

bjj hero:

They are sports because they have competition between 2 teams or 2 individual players to achieve a main objective. And they don't involve sheer luck(unlike buckaroo and what i'm guessing is cluedo) And yes chess most definitely a sport considering it has had a world championship since at least the 1800s.

It's funny to see the ratio between people who came there to see BOps/Halo compared to people who came there for SC2. Oh well, shooters make really poor spectator games but are too popular among modern gamers to ignore. They should, however, include some fighting games tho as those are much more enjoyable to watch.

Would be interested to see the BLOPS games but i would never watch it

No plug for Evo 2011? Good game, Escapist. I see us fighting game players are still considered second-class citizens to you "pro gamer" folk.

(I'm kidding.)

If Rhythmic ribbon is then Esport damn better be a sport also.

Well the next time I tell people what my hobbies are I'll say sports instead of videogames. I'd argue there is skill involved in buckaroo and strategy in cluedo. Having said that, operation is the real deal...

I spent years training rythmic ribbon, show some respect. Its hardcore.

I bet the top 3 will be SLAYERS players...blue flame is so good. As for evo, I think Noah "the prodigy"solis is gonna win everything, thatd be so awesome to see an 8 year old beat everybody in MVC3

How the hell can you even have black ops and halo? They're inherently unbalanced. It would be like playing football (soccer) on a field that slopes to one side.

I don't understand this argument... all of the players get to choose from the same equipment and perks and what not, so surely they are all on an equal playing field regardless of what those perks and equipment are? In Halo everyone starts off the same, so I don't understand how that is unbalanced at all.

I'm not exactly arguing here, I just don't understand your point, and I've heard it a lot. Care to explain?

You are the person who injected the word 'sport' into this thread. 'eSport' is a simpler moniker than Competitive/Professional Gaming.

Is there a recording of both matches somewhere? I was going to watch them, but I can't find them anywhere, except in what Google tells me is Chinese.

I think for now VODs are only for silver/gold subscribers, but there were re-broadcasts during day EU time. Not sure what's their policy on VODs after the tourney ends tho, since they decided to not to post replay packs this time due to the fact that apparently those allow to DDoS players.

Just finished watching the SC2 stream. iMMVP takes first place after 3 amazing games against SlayerSMMA who got to the grand finals after taking out the terran emperor himself SlayerSBoxer. Holy crap I'm still shaking from how awesome those finals and grand finals games were. So much Blue flame helions.

Also, Boxer vs. Rain game 1 at MLG Anaheim. Watch and be amazed.

Pretty much all competitive games are sports by definition, as long as they require skill. Hell, poker is considered a sport. Sport does have more than one definition, you know.

The Halo MLG community is such a waste of time. It's difficult to take a community seriously when they invent their own gametype with their own modifications to the world's rules so that they can feel superior.

Borrowing from the Cluedo example, the Halo MLG variant has no wrench and murders never happen in the conservatory. Also, we use d4s for movement.

StarCraft 2, however, would have been enjoyable to watch.
