Modern Warfare 3 Gets Cozy With Mountain Dew

Sugary drinks can be good for you. Well, they can be good for your Modern Warfare 3 rank, anyway.

The next installment of the Call of Duty series now has an official drink: Mountain Dew Game Fuel. That's not the only good news for fans of videogame-themed beverages either; the folks over at Mountain Dew have created a brand new, limited edition flavor as well.

Besides the "classic" citrus cherry flavor, the Modern Warfare 3 range includes a "tropical" flavor, which presumably tastes like mango or passion fruit or something. Mountain Dew will also offer promotional codes that grant double XP in the game's multiplayer. If the idea of double XP sounds good, but quaffing copious quantities of sugary drinks doesn't, you can also find the codes in packs of Doritos, which, while still not an especially healthy option, won't rot your teeth out of your head.

Mountain Dew Game Fuel debuted as an actual brand back in 2007, as a promotion tie-in for Halo 3. The brand then took a nap for a couple of years until the release of World of Warcraft branded drinks in 2009. This time there was were flavors available: Horde Red and Alliance Blue, or citrus cherry and wild fruit, respectively. Our own Earnest Cavalli, who got the dubious honor of reviewing the drinks, said that the WoW range was "at best, an enjoyable diversion, and at worst, [not] entirely offensive."

The Modern Warfare 3 Game Fuel launches in October. Modern Warfare 3 itself comes out for PC, PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360 on November 8th.

Next thing, MW3 diapers for entended play sessions so you can keep going whatever the cost!

I love when Mountain Dew does this! I just wish they wouldn't take away these great flavors so quickly after introducing them. Pitch Black is my favorite one they've ever done and it's already gone again. I love Livewire too but it's getting really hard to find.

Can't wait to try these two new flavors though!

So basically I'm at a disadvantage in multiplayer (if I bother to borrow the game) just because it's almost impossible for me to find Mountain Dew in my city? Fuck off.

Is this available in the UK?
I basically never find Mountain Dew but Doritos are a different story...

Ah, Activision-Blizzard. Not above letting you buy power in Diablo III or Modern Warfare III.

Starchy snacks like chips and doritos are actually more harmful to your teeth than soft drinks.
Apperantly becaause it sticks to your teeth and gnaws at em.

As if the CoD multiplayer wasn't already unbalanced enough, now people will be at an even bigger disadvantage just because they either don't or can't get Mountain Dew or Doritos. Yay!

Gaming Glasses
Kanye West
And now Mountain Dew.

Dont promote the game with actual gameplay footage no thatd be far too good for the customer.
Lets make them buy juice.

Call of Mountain dew...ty...
I tried.

Apart from the 1st two marketing stunts this seems more reasonable and who knows they might have hid a secret URL to gameplay footage

Ahhh I remember how much I loved game fuel when it existed for Halo 3.

But the one tropical mtn dew they had once wasn't good...
and niether was the other flavor mtn dew they released with WoW.

"Call of Mountain Dew: Mixing Drinks 4" perhaps?

I don't see how this is unbalanced, just because someone levels up faster doesn't mean you will loose, I started playing MW2 a few months ago and I can destroy, and Black Ops has double XP weekends so if you miss it will you say the game is unbalanced and sell it?

Hold on you guys in the states get mountain due that isn't the (awesome) lemone and lime flavoured energy drink. not fair. OT this still won't make me get MW3

Oh god, Call of Dewty has struck.

See what I did there?

This is pretty damn pathetic.

Why couldn't they just do this, but with apples? People need to eat more apples.
Or just fruit, in general.

Thank god Mountain Dew is available in Australia... Hopefully they will be wise enough to release it over here. The game may not be that great but the drink might be quite nice...

Still not drinking the kool aid.
Oh and btw guys, standard Mr Dew is the only good flavour anyway. So these variations are a waste of time.

Just the energy drink variant we have, unless you get it off the net from the a american food supplier. Pain in the ass as I love the Dew!

"Lets promote sitting on your arse and playing video games with sugary drinks and junk food!"

Again.

And people wonder why the stereotypical image of gamers is a fat shut-in with bad skin and type two diabeties.

Et tu, Mt. Dew?

For a second there I thought the title read "Call of Duty gets crazy with Mountain Dew"..... So many disturbing things ran through my mind.

But here's a idea, you get a coupon with a X amount of cans of COD Dew that unlocks a in-game can of mountain dew which acts like a grenade..... or maybe that'll be bad advertising. Eh, I dunno.

the folks over at Mountain Dew have created a brand new, limited edition flavor as well.

The Gnats Urine flavour?

Because some people will spend money on any old pointless piss.

Wait... Gamefuel. You mean that delicious drink that was coated in halo 3 advertisements a few years back?

ITS BACK?!?!?!?!?!?!

I could care less about the COD:MW3 labeling. That stuff is my drug.

Why do I get the feeling Activision is about to branch into the insulin market?

I would so throw a rock at someone drinking this :D

Funneh.

Gamer fuel unleaded?
Gamer Diesel?
No matter, don't think it'll be coming here anyways.

The new flavor can't be any worse than the Lime one. That crap was nasty.

Original is still good
Code Red is bad to me, but my friend like it
Love Pitch Black
Love LiveWire (try Wal-Mart or Target)
Voltage is okay
The other flavors are a miss

"offer promotional codes that grant double XP in the game's multiplayer"

Achievement Unlocked: Consumer Exploitation
We've really gotten to the rung in society where people will be forced to buy bottles and bottles of Dew in order to keep up with everyone elses Modern Warfare ranking?

Why don't they just cut out the middle man and just charge $29.99 for each new advance in rank?

I don't care to much for Code Red (which is ironically the easiest flavor for me to find) however, it's actually pretty good in the form of a slurpee, icee, slushy, etc...

Whiteout is another one that is surprisingly easy to find and not terrible. I'll try Wal*Mart for Livewire though. I've found it in those 20oz. bottles at 7-11 and Racetrack (ie: gas-n-go type places) but never in the form of a 12-pack of cans. Weird.

I think this i funny. Doritos and Mountain Dew, famed as the food of the 'anti-socialists'(?) has been endorsed by Activision. As for balancing, do you really care? It is not going to be a balanced game with ladders and monthly prizes so why not just accept this, have a laugh and have some fun shoving lead socks down dirty mouthed 13-year olds.

My local Wal-Mart still has 12-packs of Pitch Black. Enough weren't sold that they have a pallet of it in the storage area. If on September 1st, they haven't sold them all, the manager agreed to sell them to me at wholesale price. 16 12-packs of Pitch Black for $45. Not a bad deal.

Can I just ask, how are people at a disadvantage? It doesn't make any sense.

Made me laugh, so thanks for that funny oneliner ^^
