Pay What You Want For the New Humble Frozen Synapse Bundle

It's time for a new Humble Bundle: the Humble Frozen Synapse Bundle!

This is easily the most awkwardly-named Humble Bundle yet, but the Humble Frozen Synapse Bundle is still a sweet deal. The innovative tactical combat simulator Frozen Synapse normally goes for 25 bucks on Steam but as is the convention with Humble Bundles, you can now pick it up for whatever price you want to pay. And that's not all!

Just because it's called the Humble Frozen Synapse Bundle doesn't mean you don't get any other stuff with it, because it wouldn't be much of a bundle otherwise, am I right? Pay more than the average price for the HFSB, which is currently sitting at a ridiculously low $4.02, and you'll also get the only-slightly-less-awkwardly-named Humble Frozenbyte Bundle, the third Humble Bundle that debuted back in April and threw the whole Humble Bundle naming system into disarray when the Humble Indie Bundle 3 came out in July.

So let's break it down: Frozen Synapse, Trine, Shadowgrounds, Shadowgrounds: Survivor, plus the Jack Claw prototype and advance access to the Splot demo, all for about what you'd pay for a bag of Doritos and a two-liter. That's a big pile of awesome for a little tiny bit of money and even if you've already picked up the Frozenbyte bundle in one of the previous Humble Bundles, Frozen Synapse for a fiver is still a hell of a bargain.

As usual, the Humble Frozen Synapse Bundle is cross-platform [Windows, Linux and Mac] and DRM-free, and buyers can direct their funds in whatever portions they want to the developers, EFF, Child's Play and even the Humble Bundle folks themselves. It's available for 14 days beginning today, so get yours before the price goes up at humblebundle.com!

Damn my luck, I just bought Frozen Synapse a little while ago and I paid extra for the soundtrack edition and now its comes out in the Humble Bundle....
Seriously with the humble indie bundles always coming out with the games I want I'm tempted to just never buy the games when they come out and instead wait for them to hit in a bundle.

MMMmmmm...
Lovely cheap games, that I like.

Hah. I upped the average for you laggards out there!

Son of a bitch. Thanks to their two-for-the-price-of-two package I've had a gift copy of the game for months, but never actually got around to trading it away.

Totally bought this right when i saw it.
Gotta love that devs are doing this more regularly.

It's what I do.:) Last game I outright bought was Minecraft, back during alpha. Everything I've bought since then has been part of a bundle.

I'll have it :3

I would like too but Im poor, also I dont have a credit card at the moment XD

I was just about to put it up on the forums. Don't be cheap and avoid being poor if you can.

Site's down again...dang.

Edit: Yay Back up! Everyone Raise the Average Price! Must raise money for charity! :D

...is Frozen Synapse good?

Maybe that sounds cheap. I refuse to pay less than the average though...

Just bought it, liked the look of frozen Synapse but was quite pricey for an Indie game, this dealed the deal though. Bought it for 20 dollars split between charity and developers

Theres a demo on Steam that gives a good impression I thought, maybe worth a go?

I've been interested in the game for a while, this seems like the perfect time to get it! I'll still wait a bit though, by now we all know how these bundles work.

If only I had a credit card...

Yes. I would highly recommend at least checking out the demo to see if it's your cup of tea, but if you like tactical strategy games it's almost certainly worth it.

It's horribly boring for me, but as said before, if you like tactical games then it just doesn't get much better than it.

Edit: And even if you don't, Trine is worth it, and even if you have it, supporting this kind of indie games is worth it. TBH if you have a credit card and like games then there is NO reason not to get the Bundle, well, unless you have to choose between the bundle and eating... and even then it comes close.

In my experience you will get all the perks of the bundle even if you go for it now. Last time I bought 2 copies of it at above average price for me and a gamer friend and around 10 more for 1 dollar each for non gaming friends on the first day and every one of those got the full perks (or they told me they did... but TBH some of them suck at computers and i didn't saw it with my own eyes).

Though i whould like to point out that frozen synapse is not drm free, as it requires connection to an authentication server of mode7 (to check serial)

If you liked the tactical planning stages from the old Rainbow Six games then Frozen Synapse is perfect for you. There is a review of it in The Escapist's review section and the demo is on Steam.

Bought it and upped the average amount for all the cheap people out there. I may not have a ton of money right now but this is a good cause with two games I really want to play with.

Bought one bundle for me, and another for my brother. Both for nearly twice the average.

My brother is now playing Frozen Synapse. I, however, am going to bed.

I already bought the real bundle, and frozen synapse's loading screens are so long and so recurring that I literally fall asleep playing it.

I guess I have to pass on this bundle, even though my gut is still screaming buy.

GOTY for my money. I'm buying a couple of the bundles to gift to those few friends I have that don't have Frozen Synapse. Sort of Rainbow Six meets X-Com meets Combat Mission, and simpler and more refined than those titles without losing depth. The best multiplayer game in years and years.

This was a fantastic offer and it got to help a charity. Win win. :D

I already have most of those games, but I might head over anyway to get the 2 I don't and to support Child's Play.

thats rather depressing. i bought the last bundle and now they bring out this even better bundle when i have no money T-T

RPS and TotalBiscuit raved about it. They loved it so much. You don't sound o'er cheap to me, as you're paying more than average. I'm still kind of torn myself.

Frozen Synapse is on sale for $5 again, only this time I don't need STEAM!!!

Cool deal! I didn't have any $$$ last time.

Sucks that they are giving me the same other games again. That is pointless... unless someone wants to PM me for the other games I got last time. If thats the case, shame on you for not spending a dollar on the last bundle sale!

: P

payed 30$ for the soundtrack edition and now i dont play it anymore. dont regret paying the money for this game but turned based games are really not my thing. i need real time. but well, i gave it a try and it is a good game, just dint work out for me as i hoped :(
but the soundtrack is awesome.

Aye. The worst part was that I was about to trade it this morning for the Introversion Collection, but decided against it as it was a CD key. I don't like trading for CD keys as I traded for a DiRT3 key just before the leak was released. Much stress came from it. And now I'm stuck with a literally worthless game for trading. >_< Oh well.

As for the sale conversation, that's about how I feel too. On top of the indie bundles, pretty much every PC game eventually ends up on sale on Steam for about 50% off within a year of being released. It makes buying new games feel silly.

I bought it this morning, and then posted about it on the forums. I'm kind of disappointed, actually; I know news posts are separate from the forum posts, but usually if a user makes a thread about a news item before the news room guys do, he or she gets credited in the article. It's not a big deal, but it would have been nice.

Edit: Technically, I guess that was yesterday morning at this point.

I already owned the Frozenbyte Bundle, and already bought Frozen Synapse on Steam, but picked up this bundle last night for $25, just to support Mode7's decision to support Linux, and to be add some games to my collection on Desura for Linux.

And it comes with the soundtrack, which I did not own before.

The soundtrack also includes another album by nervous_testpilot, called "Module YOU.DLL Caused a General Protection Fault in Application MY_HEART.EXE" AND a chiptune album by him under the name "_ensnare_", and two FS bonus tracks. Might not be much of a game bundle for me, but it's a damn good music bundle.

And, yeah, charity, kids, whatever. :P

Ah, well in that case. I'll still wait though, I want to know what I'm getting so I know what to pay.

As much as I love humble bundles I'm passing on this one
