A Weakened Silicon Knights Refocuses On "One Of Its Most Requested Titles"

The Good LoK titles had nothing to do with them...they made the first, slightly okay-ish one. The others were all by crystal dynamics

I personally found Blood Omen to be my favorite in the series. Yes, its design is a little dated and it is a little cheaply made. But I found it to be enthralling and the gameplay surprisingly visceral and tactical. The others, especially Soul Reaver 1 and 2 were too easy.

I'm a huge fan of eternal darkness, but I really don't think these guys are capable of making a worthy sequel. It seems they made some kind of pact with satan to make a few good games, and now that deal has expired

Too Human 2 cmon! Loved the first game, I need loot and cyber norse gods.

Why the fuck are my tax dollars going to this shit

Why

On a scale from Too Human to 10 just how bad was X-Men Destiny? (HA! see what I did there? It was like a joke. A bad joke but still a joke)Because I was actually planning to pick it up used.

Please be a Too Human 2, I really want to see them succeed in making a game for that franchise.

I liked Too Human, but it needed a few better major decisions, as well as more content.

How is this not a thread discussing the awesomeness that would be Dark Legions 2? I am 29, I am not supposed to feel this old. Get the hell off of my lawn!

Was I the only one that liked too human?

I've never really played an original game by Silicon Knights. However Silicon Knights was involved in one of my favorite games ever, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, so I've never been able to hate them for what I've seen/heard about of Too Human and the like.

Barely better than Too Human. Unlike Too Human, the control scheme is at least playable, and there isn't a 15 second unskippable cutscene whenever you die. However, its shallow, repetitive, bland, ugly and really stupid. Its not the worst game ever, but its still not worth your time by any stretch, let alone your money.

If you get yourself a copy for free from someone who refuses to let you leave without it, it might make a good beer coaster, or a frisbee.

I'm pretty sure the rights to LoK belong to Square-Enix now.
The first game was the best in my opinion and I'd really like to see what SK can do to bring back that franchise.

Acknowledgement: technically yes, Crystal Dynamics won rights to the franchise who were then added to Eidos' list of developers who is now a subsidiary of Square Enix.

OutrageousEmu:

Because Nintendo still own the rights to Eternal Darkness, and they clearly know that hardcore gamers don't play the Wii (see Rainfall) so they have no reason to rerelease that game. As for the others, Gex and LOk already have been rereleased on PsN, and no-one ants to touch Twin Snakes.

Acknowledgement: very well, you have informed this droid well meatbag. you may be the last one i kill today, should we meet in person of course.

Bring it, tincan, I got a pulse gun here with your name on it.

They have something to do with all of them since they created the setting of Nosgoth and its lore.
I personally didn't like Raziel all that much and prefer playing Kain. Out of the two Blood Omens I have to pick the first due to its originality, length, and certain artistic decisions.

Still not sure why they stopped making legacy of Kain games or never made a sequal to eternal darkness sequal. They are both really strong games so why did they forget about them until now.

But if they do make another of either series it should be awesome

If they had done some of this in the first place, instead of their pet projects that went nowhere, maybe they could have saved a few employees.

CosmicCommander:
A remake of Blood Omen?

Plllllleeeease?

Fuck that! Give us the next Legacy of Kain game. We need closure damnit, CLOSURE!

Plus, hearing Simon Templeman voice a badass vampire lord just never ever gets boring.

TheGuy(wantstobe):
At least that's what i'm hoping but in reality it'll be something like Too Human 2

The game that shall not be named.

But I don't want them to ruin Eternal Darkness!

Probably Too Human 2. Well, hopefully Too Human 2. Somehow, I can't see anything good coming from Eternal Darkness 2. And some people were pointing out that Nintendo owns the rights to Eternal Darkness 2. No company in their right mind, especially one that is on the brink of disaster, will develop a game strictly for a Nintendo system.

I really liked Too Human... so, here is hoping for a sequel.

I read "currently refocusing and returning to its roots, working on one of its most requested titles for the next generation" as "we're going to let people believe we're making something they requested, then surprise them with Too Human 2". They are, after all, incompetent idiots who haven't done anything right for quite some time.

OutrageousEmu:
I bet you fucking anything its a Gex sequel. Because Silicon Knights are big enough dickheads to actually think that would be a good idea.

gex wasnt that bad.....kind of charming in a way

As long as that whiny, childish hack Dyack is at SK they will NEVER be able to make a quality game. Heck, Eternal Darkness wasn't even that good

Commentary: oh, I do enjoy the ramblings of over confident organic meatbags. Perhaps I will give you a chance; when I fire my shot I will yell "Surprise" giving you an at most a nanosecond to evade my attack. It will only be a 0.9 percent chance of success but I am very generous, given that I will have a 97.1 chance of hitting you in the centre of the forehead.

The other 2 percent you ask? Well that is the chance that you were spawned differently then other meatbags and instead of a quick death, it is a very slow and painful one.

You fail to realise the nature of your universe. I am white and humanoid, you are an abstract inhuman looking thing. If you point a blaster at my head and pull the trigger, the shot will miss even if you shot first.

Its a shame about SK having to shed those jobs, but there is such a thing as being over ambitious especially when you dont have the talents on hand to execute a vision properly. Dyack should take the opportunity to re asses his design methodology as obviously his approach has not been going down well and has resulted in negative repercussions.

Too Human got a bum rap for being having a radically different control scheme, not a bad thing in it's self but one that was made infinitely worse due to the lack of proper tutorials or training sequences. Its one of those games that once you actually learn how to play properly became very enjoyable. However you cant make something completely alien then throw players in the deep end without so much as a "how do you do". There were too many things in that game which were obfuscated from players, you cant very well expect good reviews for something especially when the reviewers have no idea how to play it!

I hope the SK get their act together otherwise their going to end up being just another footnote in the evolution of gaming if they havent become one already.

I never got all the hating on Too Human. I actually kinda liked it.

Finally, the long awaited "2 Human 2 Furious".

Joking aside, if this is an ED sequel, given their more recent track record, is it going to suck? (Answer : Probably.)

....If it's Eternal Darkness 2 they're making...They had better not [email protected]#$ it up. IF they do, they are dead. D.E.A.D. Dead.

The gamer community will not forgive them.

I'm guessing Eternal Darkness, but I'd really love Blood Omen.

MGS Twin Snakes HD on WiiU?

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, SILICON KNIGHTS!

We can hope it's Eternal Darkness 2 but let's face it: they aren't good enough anymore to actually do it justice, so it's better if they just leave it the Hell alone.

DVS BSTrD:
Well it's less than the rumored 75%,
AND we're finally getting the Too Human sequel! Horay!

Unfortunately, that is my fear too.

It is very hard to enjoy a protagonist based on a God that was upset he would die so his mother got everything in the world to agree to not hurt him. I thought Yahtzee was joking, but I looked it up.

So there maybe a sequel to a game that should never have left development...

If anyone wants to know where I've gone, I am looking for my faith in humanity...

I maybe some time.

Query: Why don't these organic meatbags re-release their old yet highly regarded games in order to improve their financial circumstances?

Because Nintendo still own the rights to Eternal Darkness, and they clearly know that hardcore gamers don't play the Wii (see Rainfall) so they have no reason to rerelease that game. As for the others, Gex and LOk already have been rereleased on PsN, and no-one ants to touch Twin Snakes.

They don't own the rights to Eternal Darkness the IP, they just own the programming of the sanity system.

Meaning Silicon either has to change how the sanity system works, buy the patent/copyright from Nintendo, or remove the sanity system.

I doubt they're going to do anything good with it.

Lol a government bailout to a another failing company.........gotta love socialism, it just spend money without promoting a damn thing. If they offered say training courses or school then Id be all for the government investment. If thier next title fails then so should the company. How can people learn from failures if the government keeps bailing the out? Good luck with thier next title though.

PLEASE TELL ME YOU ARE GOING TO WORK WITH CRYSTAL DYNAMICS ON A NEW LEGACY OF KAIN GAME!

TheGuy(wantstobe):
Sweeet ED2 WiiU exclusive thanks to Ninty owning the IP........ At least that's what i'm hoping but in reality it'll be something like Too Human 2

If ED2 comes out as a WiiU exclusive they may as well close up shop now. Nintendo has chased away too much of the audience that loved the first game. And the first game wasn't a commercial success either. They better re-release ED on all consoles to generate money before they even think of doing a sequel.
