First Batch of Skyrim DLC to Hit Xbox This Summer

This still doesn't help the fact that my game (console version, PS3) now freezes occasionally when it never did before any of the patches.

Bethesda, before you release any DLC, STOP BREAKING YOUR OWN GAME!!

Am hoping the vampire thing is from that game jam they did its at 4:25
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9e5D2EAGCZM

they adding spear's people say.

That's so strange, I was wondering why there aren't crossbows in Skyrim this morning, before I read this.

Mike Kayatta:
As you likely already know if you've played through the RPG, neither snow elves nor crossbows have yet to make an appearance in Tamriel.

For shame.

Snip snip snip

Perhaps, though being as you can track questlines you could, y'know, just follow the main questline first on your own

^ requires so much self control, i mean seriously a dude runs at you and passes you phat lewt and then runs off.. how can you not do that quest then?

Khravv:

Back on topic: A possibility I hadn't thought of at first is that this could be a landmass DLC. It could take you to Solsthiem with a quest regarding the Snow Prince's tomb. Wouldn't be as cool as a Falmer surface invasion, a return of the Snow Prince, or both. But if you could get his armor and spear, that'd be pretty rad. Especially because, y'know, then we'd have a spear :D

^ a spear would be nice, i could go all 300 on some fools.

TIMESWORDSMAN:
Damn, this going to make it much harder to claim PC Skyrim superiority.

Oh I'm okay with this. I've got it on PS3. I know that by far, it's not the superior system to have it on xD

Khravv:

That One Six:
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Bloodmoon:Fall_of_the_Snow_Prince

If this dude comes back and leads the Falmer, we are all fucked. Except for the children. As my friend is screaming at me, there's a reason for the little kids. They will save us all!

I'm hoping it is something more like that, instead of just a falmer surface invasion, however I fear it probably won't be. I'm going to hope anyways. Because I would find a fight against a returned snow prince a lot cooler than just killing more Falmer... because my character in Skyrim has already killed hundreds of them. Like seriously, hundreds.

I am surprised that there are any Falmer left after the accidental falmer rampage my character went on. Seriously for a week of playing every cave and dungeon I went into was filled with the things. I wouldn't be surprised if I boot the expansion up and find that the falmer ignore everything else and just focus on me.

Hat Man:
What's even the bloody point to releasing DLC for the xbox a month earlier then the other platforms?

What you did there, I see it.

*Runs off to buy an Xbox Live card*

I have played a shamefully small amount of Skyrim, I need to remedy that before this comes out!

Captcha: hear hear

CROSSBOWS!!!

Seriously, I'm freakin' excited about them adding crossbows. My character is a ranged combat fighter. I guess you'd say I'm a sniper. I sneak up on people and use a strong bow to get 3x damage :) it's almost always a one hit kill. Then I get to watch the idiotic AI enemies try to find me for a few seconds before they decide it was apparently the wind that killed their friend with an arrow. Gotta love Bethesda games X)

TIMESWORDSMAN:
Damn, this going to make it much harder to claim PC Skyrim superiority.

Nah.

Mods are better than getting DLC a month early every day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

The Lugz:

^ requires so much self control, i mean seriously a dude runs at you and passes you phat lewt and then runs off.. how can you not do that quest then?

Haha, ah yeah... that one happens on almost every character I start. A couple times it comes when I'm in a fight, and both the robber and the guy chasing him get killed in the battle. It is hilarious. One time the robber handed it to me, and then promptly got butchered by a sabertooth. I laughed so hard.

Yeah, mine too. Once I realized they were blind, and my assassin had maxed out sneak so he made about zero noise... yeah, it became so easy to murder them all. That being said, I keep getting surprised by how many different dungeons, if you go low enough, have them. So perhaps I've missed some. *shrug* but as long as they stay blind, they shouldn't be too bad of a threat.

Spectrum_Prez:
Wait, aren't the Falmer the snow elves? Or am I getting stuff mixed up again?

Also, out of all the features in Morrowind that they cut in Oblivion and Skyrim, crossbows would be pretty low on my list of things to bring back.

yes falmer used to be snow elves.

After their defeat by the Nords, the dwarves of old agreed to protect the Falmer, but at a terrible price. For these Dwemer did not trust their snow elf guests, and forced them to consume the toxic fungi that once grew deep underground. As a result, the snow elves were rendered blind.
Soon, the majestic snow elves were rendered powerless. They became the dwarves' servants... and then their slaves. But the Dwemer's treachery was so deep, so complete, that they made the fungi an essential part of the Falmer's diet. This guaranteed the weakness of not only their current Falmer thralls, but their offspring as well. The snow elves, for time eternal, would be blind.
But as is always the story with slaves and their masters, the Falmer eventually rebelled. Generations after they first sought solace among the dwarves, and experienced bitter betrayal, the Falmer rose up against their oppressors. The [sic] overthrew the dwarves, and fled even further down, into Blackreach's deepest, most hidden reaches.

and if i remember right you can fight one untransformed snow elf in morrowind.
perhaps with the add on blood moon. it had something to do with te snow prince

Um ... "neither, nor" isn't a double negative? Unless, perhaps, you thought "snow elves" and "crossbows" are ... somehow ... negatives? What?

Vampire speculation.

You should know better than to tempt the fates that way. Because the Big Bad is back.

If it's actual vampires, I'd be excited to get it. Of course, I still need to procure a copy of Skyrim, so maybe I'll have it by Summer.

If neither have yet to appear, that means both already have.
Which is the error.

The Falmer are the snow elves, OP. The snow elves became the Falmer after thousands of years of living underground, so I assume the "Prince" is just a Falmer boss, or perhaps there will be Falmer that are more civilized?

EDIT: On topic for Skyrim, I wish there would be Dark Souls style gameplay. I would buy a PC and a second copy if there was a Dark Souls/Skyrim crossover mod.

No you're right, the Falmer were known as snow elves, so, yeah gold star for us, I'm confused though why it's specifically called a "Snow Elf Prince" instead of a "Falmer ____"

Wonder if this will introduce a new guild that will have more than a terribly short and shallow story...

After-all slaying those Werewolf hunters seems like a pretty good idea but I would have also loved to be given the chance to join up with them.

I do not at all understand the idea of releasing DLC for a game that is 6+ months old earlier on one system than on the others. It must be something contractual that people are getting monies for, obviously, but I still don't read the logic here.

That said, I'll be happy when I get the new goodies even though I have to wait.

6SteW6:
Damn, I've barely toouched the main story in Skyrim. I swear I develop ADD when playing Skyrim, It's like:

'Ok, let's go see what those guys on the mountaintop want' *Walk, Walk* 'ohh a cave, ohh a butterfly, hey I need one of these to make that potion, ohh a shiny sword. That reminds me I need a whole new set of armour, well if I am crafting armour might aswell enchant it! Hey cool another sidequests to go with my thirty uncompleted ones! I better go home and rearrange all my containers. Oh I haven't read the wolf queen series yet. Wait, what's that weird unnatural light filtering through my window...oh it's morning :('

THANK GOD! I'm not the only one... Whew~

I heard from a guy who claimed to have worked at Bethesda studios at a party. Before you all rage I know he could have been fucking with me. That this batch of dlc is going to include you having a skill tree for the vampire and werewolves. You can become a vampire lord. The entire purpose he said of making the option to become a vampire lord is make the decision of becoming a vampire be as off balanced in benefits v disadvantages. The skill trees would include something like being able to increase transformations per day for werewolves and stuff like that. Before you comment on this remember I don't know if this guy was telling the truth, but the coding that found something to do with vampires made me think of it.

TIMESWORDSMAN:

Whut?
WHUT?

Workshop,
Skyrim Nexus.

Also it only says BEGIN as xbox exclusive;) Just got to wait a little bit longer.

lol. Poor Sony fans. Bethesda coulda at least compensated for their version not working by giving them the DLC earlier. Of course could be delayed to make the thing work (hahahaahaha)

OOooo, summer is looking more filled by the minute. This pleases me.

Well, I'll take free mods and textures over the 1 month of waiting for DLC.

How many times is Beth going to use vampires? I'm fairly certain every Elder Scrolls has had an expansion or built in quest line involving vampires. Just kind of over the idea, really.

Technically the Falmer are Snow Elves, but they've been the blind and violent monstrosities for centuries, so how do we see a prince?

AW HELL YEAH! I've been waiting for this! can't wait, I hope those crossbow rumors are true (Good GOD let them be true!) I hope vampires aren't gimped by the sun this time, at the very least, in the first phase they aren't or an item, or perk that prevents that.

DragonLord Seth:

Because "snow elf prince" is referring to specific person in Elderscroll's lore. The Snow Elf Prince was a mysterious elf warrior that appeared during the Snow Elves last stand against the Nords. He eventually died at the hand of a child, but he fought so fiercely and with such power that even the Nords, despite their hate for Snow Elves, respected him and buried him like a hero.

Somehow I doubt that vampires will play a major role in the DLC, though I could be wrong. It could just be a patch, or a more minor side thing. Or for a different DLC not announced yet.
But where the majority of the stuff seem to point towards Falmer/Snow Elves, which don't have much to do with vampires, I'm thinking the vampire file is less suspicious.
It could just be, as others have mentioned, that they are adding the Vampire and Werewolf Perk Trees that they showcased earlier from the staff "do what ever you want" post-release session.

I can understand a few days or even a week. BUT A WHOLE MONTH? Fuck you Bethesda. Fuck you very much you retards. I guess you can do retarded douchébag shit like this if you are Bethesda because they know we all will buy it anyways.

Doesn't mean I have to like the way they go about things, cunts.

I feel the same. I'm going to buy it because I love the game, but really? Really?

Now I think about it, they told us this right at the start - there were definitely articles on delayed DLC before release. It's hard to believe that just shy of ten years ago they released a PC exclusive.

Yeah love the games but the company making them are asshats.

Dammit Microsoft, holding shit over our heads and out of reach unless we buy it on your brick. Quit that shit! I'm not fond.

But, again, vampires and crossbows I care little about. Snow elves, or at least the warped, twisted, little pricks that they are now, can rot in their mushroom infested holes in the ground, for all I care.

Though, I do look forward to more opportunities to play about in Skyrim, even if what's being teased doesn't particularly perk my pickle.

ChaplainOrion:
I think this DLC might involve Werewolves too, look at the bottom left of the picture. The Dovakhin has some scars, ut it looks like they might actually be some sort of tattoo or something, to me it looks like the werewolf symbol for the werewolf perk tree from the Skyrim game jam. Maybe Dawnguard has to do with the Vigil of Stendarr protecting Skyrim from "night creatures" like the Falmer, vampires, and werewolves and they're guarding the dawn. And when I think of crossbows I also think of Van Helsing with his stake launching crossbow

Oh, man, then this would be awkward. I smooshed them all into jelly with my giant mace, while doing a merry dance in my Daedric armor, laughing at their self-righteous puddle of giblets as I walked away. If the environment was flammable, that place would have burned down. Talk about awkward.

THats not really fair guys PC gets mod that makes the game even better, so just throw the console people a bone ok?

By the way I'm throwing my support to the "Falmer Invasion" theory. Maybe there's a highly intelligent Falmer that's leading a invasion that found a way to make a endless night. And maybe the birght eye is a ability to see in total darkness when you go deeper underground to fight the Falmer main force.

Not fair? Mods are gamers own works. Not Bethesda's so that's a stupid arguement. And throw consoles a bone? What about the PS3 then? Think of them? Hurpa-durpa.
