'Splosion Man Developer Unveils LocoCycle

LocoCycle is a game about a motorbike doing kung fu. What more do you people want?

'Splosion Man developer and renowned meat-enthusiast-haven, Twisted Pixel, has been suspiciously quiet since 2011's Ms. Splosion Man. Just when we were beginning to think there'd been some kind of terrible, possibly pop-culture related, accident, the developer has released a trailer for its new game, LocoCycle.

LocoCycle tells the tale of an experimental, sentient motorcycle named I.R.I.S who, as sentient machines are wont to do, promptly escapes from her creators. She immediately takes to the open road, dragging her unfortunate rider behind her. Sent to recapture I.R.I.S are an army of jetpack toting mooks, armed vehicles and a second sentient motorcycle named S.P.I.K.E.

I.R.I.S is being voiced by gaming pundit and former Escapist contributor, Lisa Foiles, while S.P.I.K.E's voice actor is none other than Robert Patrick, best known as the T-1000 from Terminator 2: Judgment Day. So yeah, there might be a teensy bit of type casting going on there.

The gameplay appears to be a mix of straight up driving, shooting and some third-person melee combat, as I.R.I.S is quite capable of contorting herself like a Loony Toons character to punch people in the face. Or kick them in the face. Or wheel them in the face. Whatever.

There's no exact release date for LocoCycle just yet, but it is expected to come out in 2013. As Twisted Pixel was bought by Microsoft Studios back in October of last year, the smart money is on this being an XBLA exclusive.

I don't think I've ever seen a game concept look that much better on paper than it did in the trailer in my whole life. So you drag the rider on his butt throughout the entire game? Does he show you what little remains of his arse at the end so you can think about the horrible time you've put him through? Probably while spouting bad one liners? All while incapable of understanding his screams from behind your wheels?

thats.. er.. different . i wasnt expecting the rider to be there the entire time

I think this looks pretty cool, I've always loved Twisted Pixel so I think I'll check this out.

How is that guy still alive? He got ran over and blown up a good 5 times.

It looks fast-paced and flowing. Buzzed.

Always been a fan of Twisted Pixel's stuff, so I'll be keeping an eye out on this. And those guys do rather like Lisa, don't they?

So off the wall, it's hilarious. Having the rider there throws me off a bit, though. I kind of wish it was just the bike.

Either way, it looks like it could be a riot.

There is NO reason for the rider to be there, unless he ratted on a mob boss.
The bike itself is pretty sweet, "Oh look, it thinks its a chopper"

Fucking love Twisted Pixel.

Don't understand their fixation on Lisa Foiles though.

I'm amazed how much work she gets.

Oh my god. It's beautiful.

Astoundingly stupid, but all of the best ideas tend to be nowadays.

She isn't that bad.

And I was always wondering what happened to her top five lists here on the Escapist.

I play on PS3 and I've never really been bothered about missing any 360 apart from Spolsion man...and now this!

Rainboq:
She isn't that bad.

she isn't that good, either. And those top five lists kinda prove that.

At least she was trying. Then again, top fives are really divisive things.

yeah, really not seeing the point of dragging the guy along unless its some kind of mean spirited joke (pretty much what killed their comic book game for me, most of the humour in the demo was a bit too mean spirited for me... but then I spent a lot of time trying to figure out how I was supposed to save the sidekick girl where the game expected me to just leave her behind for a HI-larious joke of her being blown up cause your character is a self centered dick).

Aw man, now I miss Top Five.
And I want this game...

Grey Carter:

I want a zombie ninja ex cop who doesn't play by the rules motorbike doing kung fu.

If that was trying, she really IS that bad.

And I'm not even talking about the lists themselves, just HER. Her performance in those videos. Her performances elsewhere. She is clumsy and awkward and awful at what she's supposed to be a professional at.

He's just two days away from retirement....

The Mob killed his family and now he is out for revenge.

OT: Looks kind of interesting, but I would probably wait for some kind of sale.

When you think about it, the game is not nearly as funny without the guy stuck in the wheel.

Twisted Pixel didn't disappear after Ms. Splosion Man...they made Gunstringer for Kinect :D

Anywho this looks awesome and I can't wait, that said, as long as it's not a kinect title
