Yet Another Busty Ninja Joins Dead Or Alive 5 Ultimate

Actually, the characters look very stiff to me. The boobs don't seem that big in this clip. The moving statue thingy is from Ninja Gaiden 2 - I'm surprised that no one said anything about that yet.

A brief correction: the statue is from Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. The Sigma games are pretty much their own series due to the changes made compared to the "main" games.

Also, not many people are familiar with the Ninja Gaiden games, if you can believe that one.

KingsGambit:
Number of shits given is less than or equal to zero. The threads about sexism in games have gone on long enough now and Team Ninja is what it is. I don't buy their games because of boobs, I don't buy them because I'm not interested in them. Any game that has boobs in it is now thoroughly offensive, it's become almost farcical at this point.

Funny thing is, give players a character creator with sliders, most of the time the lady's chest slider is as far right as it can go.

What gets me though is that amazingly some game developers don't think of that, if you max a female character's chest slider to the mac in "Star Trek Online" it causes a decent number of clipping issues, especially when she wears extra chestwear like a bandolier or strap. :)

Even by Escapist standards, this article was embarrassing. I mean, I'm all for knocking games for being oversexualized, but I also expect a bit of research done. Or at the very least, not having an article written that is pretty much "lol boobs". I haven't played DOA5, but DOA4 was actually a fairly solid fighting game, if insanely tough. I honestly do think that anyone who says DOA is nothing but fanservice has not actually played any of the games, outside of the volleyball games, which are a whole different story.

I like the game for what it is, fap material.

I never bothered to get DoA5 because I was underwhelmed by DoA4, skipped 3, so I guess this is as good a time as any to get it.

For me it doesn't matter if it's Flat-Chested Fighter 12 or Gore-Porn Kombat 6.
As long as the game is FUN, and not boring like the Dragon Ball: Evolution types, I'm willing to play it.

O, and, Japan does 'this' better:

AH is a GREAT series, I don't care what you puritans and your 'moral crusaders' think.

All female cast.
Weird boob physics.
Every character is some kind of fetish.

Fun as can be.

I really want to play Arcana Heart, but getting it outside Japan is hard.

Isn't the third one(at least I recall seeing it...) available on PSN and xbox live? Or is it a specific version you're thinking of?

And then to be a bit more on topic: I've never been a fan of DoA as I never played the series. I simply wasn't interested in it. Then I got ahold of it on my vita and I've actually enjoyed it a fair bit though I'm fairly bad at it. If anything I've found it does female characters vastly better than plenty of other developers out there(*coughBlizzardcough*). The fact that it has boob physics(which is adjustable in the game anyway) doesn't bother me. If someone likes it then let them. Sexualization ain't inherently a bad thing nor a good thing. It comes down to how it's used.

Plus hasn't there been places in the world lately where people who liked flat chested adult women ended up being accused of being pedo's or somesuch? I certainly recall some weirdness like that showing up a while back. So both too flat and too big is terribad now then I guess?

The third one got an EU release, which is on Amazon.com. There's a North American PS2 release of the first one as well.

Eri:
I don't understand how boobs being large makes the game sexualized.

It doesn't, the super skimpy string does.

Eri:
Are you saying they should be A-B cups top in order to make the game not sexual or something?

No, we are saying give them clothes, not tape.

Eri:
Newsflash, many woman have large breasts.

In games just about all women have F+.

Eri:
Some may be more perfectly proportioned than others.

These women are depicted as chupa chups with grapes attached.

Eri:
Especially in the USA where the average bust size has only increased with time

Do women in America dress like police tape, string and latex are the latest fashion trends?

Eri:
I don't understand how boobs being large makes the game sexualized. Are you saying they should be A-B cups top in order to make the game not sexual or something? Boob physics might not be accurate at all, but it's never said "My problem is just with the physics." It's always they're (the characters) over sexualized. Newsflash, many woman have large breasts. Some may be more perfectly proportioned than others. Especially in the USA where the average bust size has only increased with time.

I, for one, would rather look at women shaped like women, than women shaped like 12-year-old girls.

Pedro The Hutt:

In fact, you're now indirectly insulting your colleagues considering The Escapist gave DoA5 a respectable 4/5 score when it came out last year.

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/9996-Dead-or-Alive-5-Review

Furthermore, considering the Escapist's review of the game helped convince me to buy the game, does that mean you're insulting me by proxy as well for believing that review had any merit at all?

Belated:
They're just lazily grabbing on to any female character who has the audacity to dare to look attractive, and taking cheap shots to increase their traffic, ironically exploiting sexy women far more shamefully than the artists themselves do.

These two points are the ones that I agree with the most. I am being entirely serious when I say that if it wasn't for the Escapists news articles, I'd never have heard of SkullGirls or Dragons Crown's busty witch character, and if it wasn't for Jim Sterling I'd know nothing about DOA featuring women with uncommonly large breasts.

Obviously being a gaming website, gaming news is appropriate, but it is the contradictory tone that is used that I find irksome. They are essentially giving them free advertising at the same time as they are mocking them, reviewing them and giving us updates on them.

It's like letting a guy know that a new Playboy magazine is out, telling them you give it an 8 out of 10, and then calling them a pervert for showing an interest in it.

So I already have DOA5. I don't really want to have to buy Ultimate just to get another character and some stages. It had better be a new game altogether with more content than that. Either that, or give me the character as DLC for the copy of DOA5 that I already own.

LOL, i suddenly just realised that Omega has no idea what F cup breasts look like, or even what "just about all" means.

Either that or your statement is just so much hyperbolic noise, empty of any actual content.

See... the one thing I don't get about DoA is why all those women are fighting?

Surely their perpetual motion breasts could be much better used to solve the world's energy crisis.

Just saying...

Edited 'cos I realized how silly I was being engaging another user.

Sorry.

(move along, nothing to see here)

Ah, the only version I've played was Sigma2. I assumed the boss was the same, I guess not, thanks!

I actually can't believe that not many people are familiar with Ninja Gaiden! That's a crazy thought, but that would also explain why these kinds of games are not on forums. Hmmm...

A lot of people aren't familiar with them mostly because they're a niche market anymore, as most of Tecmo's games are. Probably the "biggest" franchise Tecmo has is Dead or Alive and that's because it's a fighter. Outside of that they have Ninja Gaiden and Dynasty Warriors; the latter of which came from their partnership with Koei. They have more properties in Japan dealing with dating sims and the like, but outside of there they don't have much. They do have other games, but many of them were a one or two time deal and never picked up again.

Notable Mentions are Crimson Sea and Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll.

Well this is nothing new to the franchise. If they just decided to have wacky breasts mechanics out of nowhere, then I guess I can understand. Literally been doing it since the beginning. Lots of people remember the franchise based off of the giant boobs.

Not to mention that fans of action titles are a fine minority here on The Escapist.

According to my observations, at least.

Wow, I guess that's why I haven't had much success getting responses to certain games. Oh well, I will keep playing those games anyways.

Crimson Sea II is a good game on PS2...so interesting that people are not into those games. Now I know why.

Well to be fair the entire time i was watching that video I didn't even notice the breasts. Not that I'm defending the game or anything but as long as your focused on the game and not on the characters it probably isn't that big of a deal

She just stole that look from Jodie Marsh
, image.

What I meant is they don't go shopping in that attire, let alone dressing that way to go to war with baddies.

I think we should even it out, in video games instead of guys wearing iron maidens to go to war, they should wear mankini's and there testicles should cheekily poke out the sides ... not full on balls drooping down, just like 2 side boobs just hairy and smaller haha.

Well, get on with makin that game then!

Personally I wont buy it, but you wont see me whining and whimpering about guys being portrayed like that, or anything along those lines :P
