Super Mario 3D World Features Cat Mario

Super Mario 3D World Features Cat Mario

image

The new Wii U 3D Mario will feature four-player co-op, with players playing as Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Peach.

Tanooki suit. Frog suit. Penguin suit. What powerup is the Mario franchise missing? The cat suit, of course. Super Mario 3D World will be the next adventure for the red-hatted plumber, releasing on Wii U this December and featuring four-player multiplayer, as well as the new cat suit powerup.

The cat suit will allow Mario and his friends to transform into cats, gaining the ability to climb up walls and scratch enemies with claws. Peach, Toad and Luigi will join Mario in the game's multiplayer mode, which will feature up to four-player co-op (or competitive, depending on how evil your friends are) play, similar to the New Super Mario Bros. series.

Each character will have its own "unique" feature, that fans of Super Mario Bros. 2 will feel right at home with. Peach has floaty jumps while Toad runs slightly faster, and Luigi does his Luigi thing.

The game will be a 3D Mario game, as opposed to the 2D sidescrollers that were the New Super Mario Bros. games. Iwata says that the game is based on the 3DS's Super Mario 3D Land. The game will be available some time this December, both at retail and as a digital download on the Nintendo eShop.

Cat suit Peach. Sweet! :D

I'm glad they got rid of the double toad and went more Mario 2 with it.

So it's just a sequel to 3D Land, but on the Wii U.
Well, any chance of me being excited for new 3D Mario is now completely gone. Two years ago I'd have been all over this title, but now it just seems to be lacking that spark.

Super Mario 3D Wörld........
Well, its german pronounciation isn't that far off, at least.
Also, is Nintendo spamming Mario games recently?
Like, A LOT SOLELY?

Question: in the picture is Mario the Yellow or the Pink Cat?
I Assume Yellow but I'd of thought they could've had him using red and passing off yellow for Peach due to her hair/crown/headwear like everyone else.

At Nintendo...

CEO: Our console is not selling well, what does the internet like?
Employees: Cats, sir.
CEO: Mario is now a cat.
Employees: Brilliant!

3D Land was a fun game, but I was hoping for something with a little more punch to it. It'll be good, at least.

And now I wonder what the excuse plot will be since Peach hasn't been kidnapped.

Also, now that I think of Cat Mario, I wonder how this didn't happen sooner.

I have to admit that while Nintendo's beating the same dead horse again the WiiU still looks far more appealing than the Xbox One.

Peach is out for VENGEANCE.

Nice to see Peach back in 4 player Co-op. Last time I can recall her being in the gameplay was Super Mario Brothers 2.

Princess Peach in a cat suit? I'd like to see that... aside from the pin-ups found on DeviantArt. ;P

There's always Daisy and Rosalina. Though, I think it would be awesome if they went more a Mario RPG rout and had Bowser kidnapped by someone and they have to save him.

Nintendo, I (used to) love you, but you've got to stop. This naming convention for Mario games is ridiculous and confusing.

I imagine a tombola at Ninty HQ: they stuff in words on bits of paper like "New", "World", "Land", "U", "3D", "Bros", "Super", "Bukkake", etc. ("Mario" is, of course, a given) leave the lid open and just spin it round a few times until a few pieces fall out. Et voila, a new Mario game is named. Next time look forward to New Wii Bukkake Bros World Mario on U.

Addendum: four player co-op Mario platformer; Nintendo clearly haven't learned from last time, so immediately writing this off as a failure.

To be honest I just want another Super Mario 64-type deal if they're going to be making a fuckton of Mario games. We haven't had one of those in a few years, but we've had a ton of 2D ones and shit.

While I would have liked a Mario Game more like 64/Original Galaxy, I am not disappointed. Super Mario 3D Land is my 2nd Favorite 3D Mario Platformer of all time (Behind 64), so this is gonna be awesome!

Well, since 95% of the art assets already exist, 99% of the engine and physics exist, these 2D Mario games must cost almost nothing to make so they the profit margin on them must be amazing.

Thank God they added Peach instead of a fucking Toad again. Wish they'd replace the rando Toad with an actual character though. Hell, if Yoshi won't work (because he's a mount) add Diddy Kong or something.

And Nintendo just won E3, but in the Malibu Stacey getting a new hat kind of way.

And wouldn't you know it, Super Mario 3D World has Both Cats, and Tubes!

Actually, the Four Characters here (Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach and A Toad) is a callback to Super Mario Bros. 2 (Which was really "Doki Doki Panic!"), that had Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach and A Toad, each with their varying attributes.

at first I thought they were adding the game Cat Mario to the release, as a bonus or something.

Nintendo, Disappoint me harder.

good times. Hope to see just as insane of levels as in 3D Land

Neko Peach... My body wasn't ready.
HHHHHHNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGG!

Now all I need is to not spend the money I will earn in the next 3 months to buy a WiiU and all the games they showed.

You know, actually thinking about this: this is the first 3D Mario game with co-op in it. This should be awesome. And yet... nothing. It's just there.

I guess it's because when you think of a multiplayer 3D Mario game, you'd imagine it being in a big, sprawling game like Mario 64 or Sunshine, like that fan-made Mario 64 co-op game. And the 2D games having co-op for a few years now probably didn't help.

Baby steps, I suppose.

did someone mention me, no okay ill just go walk over here a bit.

anyway cat Mario could e interesting, but it might end up in some annoying complications, hello meme videos.

I've been skipping Mario since Galaxy 2, but I might give this one a look. Kitty Mario had much to do with this decision. Good job Nintendo, that shit markets itself.
