I haven't even clicked the video, and I won't, because I don't have to. The thumbnail is a woman in pearls and pasties with a hilarious bloom effect.

For some reason, they look more like ass cheeks more than breasts to me in that thumbnail.

Chestass.

Mein. Gott. Why do you make me imagine these things?! D:

Oh look, more sinusoidal boobies.

If I want to see boobs I just bang your mother watch porn. I don't really see why this game needs to be.

Dead Or Alive 5: Ultimate Trailer Offers Breasts Aplenty

A new trailer has arrived for the upcoming Dead Or Alive 5: Ultimate which focuses on the game's new swimsuits. It's a Team Ninja joint, what did you expect?

Dead Or Alive 5: Ultimate is, as its title suggests, the "ultimate" version of Dead Or Alive 5, a game that was initially released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, then ported to the Vita handheld as Dead Or Alive 5+. What exactly does this mean for you, the player? Alongside a handful of balance and gameplay tweaks, Dead Or Alive 5: Ultimate is said to offer far more content than its predecessors. Translation: Each character should have a massive number of costumes.

And of course, since this a Dead Or Alive title, many of those costumes take the form of revealing swimsuits. That trailer embedded here? It's specifically dedicated to the new selection of swimwear in Dead Or Alive 5: Ultimate. While it is a Japanese clip, you really don't need to know the language to pick up on the subtleties present in this video, mostly because there are none. This is pretty blatant cheesecake, so if physically improbable virtual boobs are your thing, then today's your lucky day.

Dead Or Alive 5: Ultimate is currently scheduled for release on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on September 3. There's also an arcade version of the game in the works, but those releases are generally lengthy, tiered affairs, so the best we can tell you is that it should appear right around the same time as the console game (and that unless you live in Japan, you'll probably never see a Dead Or Alive 5: Ultimate cabinet).

So, does DLC bought for DoA5 transfer over to the Ultimate edition, because if it does, I'm trading in my old copy of DoA5 for this new one :D

Love your work Team Ninja, love your work.

You know... I wanna be upset about this. But I can't. It's physically impossible for me to be upset over this.

Probably because I've been playing DoA since the Dreamcast, so the more superficial aspects of the game such as the girls's hypnotic bust lines are easy for me to overlook at this point. And those tag combos... I didn't think Kokoro/Ayane had that kind of synergy.

And that ending with Momiji and Rachel was kinda adorable I thought.

Evil Smurf:

Uh... it's a fighting game. More fighting games are inherently designed for fans of fighting games. Dead or Alive just happens to be a fair bit more shameless, and gives a fair bit less fucks, about the character designs.

You don't have to like it; it's pretty obvious you don't. But is its existence really hurting you in any way, shape, or form?

Query: And while we're talking about extremes, why does anything in existence need to be, be it video games or otherwise?

Hazy992:
So it seems 14 year old girls in bikinis is what makes it the 'Ultimate' version. Because videogames.

Jesus Christ, this industry...

It's more a case of "Jesus Christ, the Hikkikomori and NEET segments of the Japanese populace, along with most of its male culture for repressing sexuality to such an extent that those rare few instances where they let their hair down end up so egregious in their form and function..."

Whee, run-on sentence!

I suppose its not too far from real life. Some of those Brazilian MMA fighters wear some very small pants in the cage.

To be honest this is just sad. I can understand designing characters with big breasts and trying to give a game sex appeal, but you can't sell a game on a "D" cup. I use to love this game for the combat but at the moment all I can see is boobs, boobs and ass.
I don't think they are trying to be sexist because it just seems so childish. Everything is emphasized to the point of meaninglessness and its more akin to a teenager drawing women in a notepad, rather then an attempt to be demeaning to women, but even still, we use to play DOA for the fighting as well as the characters, now its like they don't want us to play it and would prefer us to look at whats attached to the characters rather then the charters themselves.

OK. I don't really know why I bothered watching the video but I actually think this particular video wasn't that bad. I mean it is bad, but it's quite mild by Team Ninja standards. The breast physics have been cranked down a few notches and the women don't make obscene poses with gross camera angles when they win. I don't like being an optimist but this is a big step in a very different direction to what Team Ninja has been doing the last decade.

So gross and unpleasant to watch? Quite. Puke inducing? Not quite.

Dr. Dice Lord:

OT: I remember the good 'ol days when people could see a game like this, or Dragon's Crown (its really sad they're even compared) and you could simply not like it, and not buy it. Then that was that, and you moved on. These days, it seems every single game with a female that isn't wrapped up in a burka needs to be censored, or boycotted, or attacked.

Isn't a boycott just lots of people deciding they don't like something and choosing not to buy it?

Building a game entirely on breast physics might sound appealing to teens, but it's actually not.
It ultimately always end up disappointing, because it distracts your raging hormones, and you just end up running to the bathroom and not actually playing the game.
I'm glad it's over, and I never actually bought any of those.

Flatfrog:

Isn't a boycott just lots of people deciding they don't like something and choosing not to buy it?

According to Steam, it's just lots of people joining a whine-group, and then buying the game anyways.

Mechanically I quite like DOA, it's the only fighting game I could be bothered to play, but aesthetically it's pretty unappealing to me, the anime styling is a real turn off and if I don't like the way a game looks then it's just not happening.

I like jiggle physics as much as the next man, but DoA's kinda ruins the illusion.

I think this is the first time I have seen the male characters in shorts then to have all the girl fightings in bikinis.

I'll be happy when this current trend of "SEXISM, WAHHH" dies down. Breasts and jiggle physics are practically what Tecmo's Team Ninja is known for, aside from their soul crushingly difficult Ninja Gaiden games. To top it off, it's a fighting games, not even a widely popular one, which means it's a niche title. They've also been making these games since the PSX era, this isn't new; but now all of a sudden there's a massive distate because of how the designers make the female characters. Cry me a river.

According to that trailer, BOOBS ARE AWESOME!. Did you see that! None of the men could even get off a single attack. They just sat there and got their (taught) posteriors handed to them.

I want boobs! Then I will be INVINCIBLE.

Team Ninja probably has some... questionable views toward how it portrays women, BUT DoA is still a fun game to play, so I'm not gonna rag on them that much.

Sometimes there's just sexploitation. If the game is good, I think we should just try to ignore and denounce the elements we don't like and like the game on the merits that outweigh that.

Unforunately I don't see the Escapist having a sizable fighting game audience. So this gets just lumped in with boobs and the whole sexism hype going on right now. To top it off even among fighters it's more niche than Street Fighter or Mahvel, so the possible audience who are generally interested in it is even smaller. I enjoy the games, but I'm not expecting much outside of the "AHHH SEXISM" from most of the sites audience.

At this point, I truly don't understand what most of you even want anymore besides DOA losing its image altogether.
The breasts sizes while still exaggerated are now within human limits.
The anime stylings are given a more realistic tone, with their proportions having variety.
Tina even has a proper athletic build and subtle abs and they added Mila, who's casual outfit is jeans, a checkered shirt, and her ringer tee.
The game has less skimpy main outfits for the female cast across the board.
While the Virtua Fighter guests aren't hit by the fanservice bat at all.

The jiggle is really subdued in comparison to the first 4 games and not even comparable to Xtreme 2.
Unless you're intentionally shaking them up and down, you won't even notice in the vast majority of matches.
Any less and they might as well not even bother and make them rocks attached to their chests.

I get the point about Dragon's Crown since it does make the game polarizing for those who would be interested in the gorgeous art and seek a new online game that isn't just another FPS/MMO/RTS/MOBA.

But when a development team straight up implies this is a game for straight men who like fighting games, and the game has made an effort to tastefully compromise, I get tired of these faux-progressive "critiques".

If people did actually play the game, I would hear more about the girls panting and staring desperately and lovingly at the player to continue the fight in story mode which I'd definitely agree it could do without.

AidoZonkey:
now its like they don't want us to play it and would prefer us to look at whats attached to the characters rather then the charters themselves.

It had a beta with fan input applied to the retail version.
They gave many exhibitions for test builds.
It did many improvements like trying to balance the counter system and making consistent offense more rewarding.
There was a major balance patch within this year.
This new version is free to play and only makes you pay if you want everything at a retail price, or want only your favorites at a discount.

Where are people getting this stuff?

Paragon Fury:
I still love DoA. Going to get this when it comes out.

Also, I hate to break it to the "men-in-swimsuits for equality" crowd; but as a man, who knows other men, who in turn know OTHER men, I'm fairly certain we, as well as all other men, can ALL confirm something for of all of you.

If the swimsuit/undergarment we're wearing is loose enough for our piece to move around, its going to be too loose for you to see anything. If it is tight enough for you to see anything, it will be too tight for any noticeable movement to occur. Sorry ladies. Its just how that bit down there works.

Also, the full trailer does show some of the men's suits too.

You're wrong. You've never seen male strippers I guess. Groovy, oh behave!

I suppose I should have qualified it with a "unless the piece of clothing is specifically designed to allow it to happen[/i]".

The kinds of cloths the men in DoA (and most other games) wear? Not gonna happen. Nor in the clothes most ordinary men would wear.

But it's okay, we all make mistakes.

I'm buying this just to spite prudes. Really now, these games have been around for years.
It's not a big deal. Don't like it? Don't play it.

Oh it was time for another dead or alive xtreme in the series. Looks GOOD! I hope they have sliders that you can use to control the breast physics, though I am sure team ninja already mastered those. Ah I can't wait for the photography section of this upcoming game. Yes this is the one game everybody should own on their respective console. Just saying..

Yeah, that aside, it is what it is. It is a "fighter" for horny guys. There is NOTHING else to it! Bathing suits to fight in, it actually covers up better then the usual female battlewear. So in a way it is a step in the right direction, by some standards.

The 13 year olds will love this game. So will the 16 and 19 year olds.. the question is at what age does that love stop?

Dr. Dice Lord:
Where are all the white-knights and the sexism in videogames crowd? Where is the finger-pointing and male-blaming?

Oh, you must all be attacking Dragon's Crown still. Pardon me, carry on sieging a game that literally has done nothing to hurt you or the industry.

And those males that have the audacity to be subject to their genetic programming? We're all "Sexist, misogynist rape-culture advocates."

Right. Riiight.

I wont be buying it because it looks stupid and feels creepy, but i don't think it needs to be said. This is the fifth installment we all know what its about the fact that its sexist and degrading isn't exactly a secret, the problem is that people buy it so the developers don't care there to busy rolling in their piles of money.

What makes this worse is that the gameplay looks really dull, i don't have any experience of these games but even if the female characters weren't gravity defying i wouldn't buy it.

Now I question myself: Is open sexual objectification, or sneaky sexual objectification the worse? At this point, I think the hardheaded nature of the team is far more deplorable than that of a underhanded method, the difference between the guy who tries to get away with murder, and the guy who walks around in the street with his kill draped on his shoulder.

Evil Smurf:
If I want to see boobs I just bang your mother watch porn. I don't really see why this game needs to be.

...Because it's one of the best fighting games on the market, and in my opinion, THE best 3D fighter. It's fairly balanced, has a deep system, and they've toned down the "boing" in 5.

Nice generalization there.

DoA has one of the best fighting systems in all of gaming. But no, whine more about the breasts, which were toned down for 5 and make empty generalizations.

I'm 26, by the way.
