SugarDVD Will Blast Porn on SteamOS

SugarDVD Will Blast Porn on SteamOS

The good folks at SugarDVD have confirmed that their streaming porn app will be developed for SteamOS.

Well that sure didn't take long. A little more than 48 hours after Valve unveiled SteamOS to the world, SugarDVD has unveiled plans for a SteamOS version of its streaming adult entertainment service - porn, in other words. Steamy!

"Our apps have had no problem reaching gamers through Xbox and Playstation, and so far, the gaming community loves our apps," said SugarDVD CEO Jax Smith. "It'd be foolish not to develop for Valve's new venture."

For those who aren't familiar with it, SugarDVD is akin to Netflix, except that it's all porn, all the time. The service offers unlimited streaming, full DVD rentals and sales, and even "pay per minute," when all you need is a minute. It's already available for PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, Roku, iPad and Android devices, and is also in development for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

"We love the gaming community," SugarDVD rep Rebecca Bolen said. "Gamers can make or break new technology, so we're excited to get started developing our adult app for Valve's promising new devices."

"Any device that has easily-accessible adult content on it will be more popular than one that doesn't," she added.

You can't really argue with that. Porn is big business, after all, and SugarDVD's cross-platform ubiquity would suggest that the company has found itself a reliably lucrative niche. And for all the dismissive pointing and laughing people do, we all know that an awful lot of them are going to download it - just out of casual curiosity, of course.

SugarDVD says work on its SteamOS app will begin as soon as the OS is made available to developers. To find out more, you'll have to do some Googling on your own, because no way am I linking to any of it.

That is some scarey fast market response there...

Knowing about SugarDVD already, I wasn't sure I wanted to know what they "blasted" SteamOS with.

oh, you already know what they blasted them with .....

Well, if there's one industry willing to instantly jump on board with new technology...

The porn industry decided the blueray vs HDD battle, maybe it will decide the next console war =p

Eh, I'll stick to pornhub.

reasonable, considering that steam tends to build up high pressure in a closed case/box that, without controlled release with, lets say a valve can cause an explosion and thus cause injury to the operator.

also sugardvd. we meet again on the escapist...

and inb4 blast processing.

Of course they love the gaming community. To them, we're all lonely people who crave the touch of another human being. Porn is actually bad for your mental health. Not masturbation, mind you. Porn specifically. There's even a documentary about it on YouTube (your brain on porn) and more than a few very insightful studies linking depression with the use of porn.

I see what you did there with the title.

"Paying for porn?"

I don't understand...

Pretty much sums up the majority of internet use. :)

Smells like heresy.

Since we live in a time of free porn tube sites, I'm surprised anyone is still willing to pay for porn streams. That's like paying for access to cat videos when YouTube is just a click away.

Snazzymathematics:
Eh, I'll stick to xxx.

tbh...open source OS with (presumably) media centre like functionality ?...there will probably be "scrapers" for every video hosting site on the net...and a web browser...actually i wonder if i could install SteamOS on an (original) xbox :o...might be fun...

Cos everyone wants to stream porn to their living room...

Sounds awesome......an awesome business venture to create controller cases for such a services customers, don't want anything gunking up the controller for guests to find now do we?

I can hear them applauding from here.

Wait, that's not clapping....

I find the puns quite pleasurable.

I wonder what difference will it make. As long as you have a functioning PC you can access any porn site anyway.

I know, right? I'm very fond of Valve, but I imagined the complete opposite of this. I thought that developers would shy away from a Linux-based platform.

Ha! Where there's a will there's porn.... lots and lots of porn.

I'm kind of surprised that it's on the Wii U. Also why would anyone pay for porn? Especially direct to your living room.

It is not on the WiiU, they only say that because you can stream it through the web browser, same with iPad and couple others. There no app, at least for those two.

considering where people think of taking the tablet, it's pretty much inevitable

I was going to ask who pays for porn in this day and age. Four other people on this thread asked a similar question. What boggles my mind is that, given this company's relative success, the answer must be "a surprisingly high amount of people".

I watched that documentary a while ago since bodybuilding.com was in its "no-fap" phase. It says OVERUSE of porn is bad for your mental health, since it overloads your dopamine generators, dopamine being the stuff that gives you cravings.
They have it the wrong way, IMHO. Porn doesn't cause depression, but someone who overuses porn probably is incredibly lonely, and thus, probably has depression.

I've had the misfortune of hearing about people with hundreds of GIGABYTES of porn. Now, those people have problems with their mental health....

Also worth asking, who pays for porn anymore? You're basically buried in the stuff whenever you go to a video site that isn't youtube. Just try removing the parental lock on dailymotion, which is , as far as I know, the second video site next to youtube.

Terabytes would be more concerning considering a 1-2 hd movie can be over 5 gigs alone. Gigabytes just isn't that much space anymore.

OH! I know... KNOWLEDGE!!! *thinking* Nailed it...

OT: Well, if I wasn't already sold with SteamOS... I'm sold even more... Besides, I have too much money on me that WSASN'T spent on services like SugerDVD or Netflix... (I'm so behind on the times...)

While I do pay for porn. Cam girls ftw. I can't see myself using a console to watch porn, what with the fact I live with people.

I just hope they know what they're doing, you don't want to go in guns blazing with out a plan...

Porn industry - better PR management/market response than Microsoft. (Yeah, I'm reaching for the low-hanging fruit.. but what is porn but low-hanging fruit doyouseewhatididthere?)

I should think the answer is self evident, sure there are plenty of relatively safe sites to get porn from but you still have to pay for the HD streams for most of them. Paying for a streaming service makes sense if someone wants high quality content that's guaranteed to be safe, plus I would guess there might be other things people would find appealing about "sugar DVD".

Maybe its the service, the type of films they have, they models they use. Things like that.

I guess they were waitign for Valve to announce it as they werent allowed to talk about it but knew before hand. that would make most sense really.

After a while you will notice that pretty much every site has the same videos and they keep repeating over and over again. And if you have particular fetishes it may very well be worth paying for site that caters to your fetish exclusively than try to sift though seas of crap that no one would ever consider sexy.

Doom972:

Well you can easily access porn via your phones default browser but apps for porn are still sucesful....

-Dragmire-:

Actually, a one fullHD full length movie would be around 30-50 GB. it would take 5 movies to fit the "hundreds of gygabytes" definition.
