Update: Call of Duty: Ghosts Has 50 GB Install Nvidia reveals PC minimum system requirements for Call of Duty: Ghosts. If you were putting off installing your new hard drive, now might be the time. The minimum specifications for the PC version of Call of Duty: Ghosts, posted by Nvidia, reveal a requirement for a staggering 50 GB of hard drive space. For reference, Borderlands 2 requires 13 GB, Far Cry 3 needs 15 GB, and the upcoming Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag will eat 30 GB of your precious storage. If you are a typical Steam user, according to the monthly voluntary survey, installing Call of Duty: Ghosts could require more than 10% of your total hard drive space, not to mention the time required to download it. The download requirements for console versions are yet to be revealed, but a similarly large investment of space is likely. Here's the full list of specifications provided by Nvidia: Minimum System Requirements:
Call of Duty: Ghosts arrives for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U and PC on November 5. Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will have Call of Duty: Ghosts as a launch title. Activision has announced that early adopters will be able to upgrade their games to the next generation systems for as little as $10. As long as they have space to install it, of course. Source: Nvidia Update: Activision has stated in a tweet that the specifications reported by Nvidia are not official. The official requirements are coming soon according to Activision.
Fucking christ, excuse me?
Dear fucking god, that is 1/3 of my god damn broadband data cap for ONE FUCKING GAME! They really need to reign in this space bloat.
Is that a typo? Please tell me that is a typo. Edit: Hell, all of those specs look really high for the minimum specs. 6GB of Ram! 550 Ti! Core 2 Duo processor (okay, not that so much). Are you sure those aren't the recommenced specs for the game NVidia?
I beg your pardon? Call of Duty isn't going bloody open world is it? Edit: Also, GTX 780 what the fuck. Isn't that pretty much a baby step down from the Titan?
That's over the amount of space that League takes up, but that's the only game which I'm using as a reference. This is still kind of too much, though.
With those kinds of requirements, I think they're simply copying and pasting the Xbox One version of the game onto PC and calling it a day. As for the HDD space, they're doing it because they have BluRay on all consoles now (aside from Wii U, but nobody cares about that), and don't really give a damn about slow internet connections and bandwidth caps. All I can say, is get ready to shell out for higher bandwidth caps and 4TB hard drives.
Holy Christ. 50 giga bytes? What the hell are they doing? Don't even get me started on bandwidth and download speeds.
Slight correction here, the Wii U doesn't use Bluray certified discs, but it uses modified Wii optical discs that have the basic storage capacity of a single layered Bluray disc, so 25 GB. Panasonic helped to develop it and we don't know if the discs can be dual layered yet, but in this case it'll probably be 2 discs for the Wii U version. Although at the same time I don't know any Wii U owners clamoring up for the latest Call of Duty to grace the Nintendo console, in fact I don't know many Wii U owners because there aren't that many! XD (this is a joke for those who would get butt hurt about me saying this) OT: 0__0
My windows portion only has about 10 gig free! OSX has 239 gig free.
I wasn't going to get Call of Duty: The Next One anyway, but now I'm definitely not.
50 meg would only take a couple of minutes to download at the most. 50 gig a couple of hours.
If you have a decent internet, and are connected into a good enough router, or possibly the modem itself.
Oh it be all day for me too :(
oops. Looks like I got a typo to fix.
That fish AI must take up a lot of space. Seriously, what is taking up so much memory?
Good thing I don't like Call of Duty and I'm not getting this game. XD
Damn. If I say, wanted to buy ghosts on psn or xbox live for PS4 and Xbox One, would it be the same size? Cause its gonna make the 500 GB HD the systems come with run out really quick. Those specs also seem awful high for the graphical quality on offer, I certainly don't see that sort of graphical power in the visuals, but I could be wrong.
That's a TON of space! It must be all for the dog's AI.
At least you can change the HDD of the PS4 to whatever you want, even to an SSD. The Xbox One you can't do that and it's not supporting the external hard drives at launch either. Plus PS4 isn't making you install the game like Xbox One I believe, although that's up to the publisher.
There's no fucking way it has to be that huge. They have to be screwing with us. I don't understand what they could possibly be doing that would require 50 gigs. Maybe they're shipping their entire developer toolset with it. That would almost make that game worth buying. Modders could do some incredible things with such a varied toolset.
Oh yeah, round these parts 1Mb/s down is the dog's bollocks. That still takes up, according to my calculations, over 14 hours of solid downloading. And a good quarter of my monthly internet cap. The game's also, what, US$90? That's rather extravagant for what is, surely, roughly the same game as the last one. Anyway, whatever. I'm sure at least one of my mates will get it, and will try and get me to play it with him so he can kick my stupid ass. Edit: Fuck, I'm drunk or something.
Actually, it's beyond MMO size. Even World of Warcraft at it's most bloated was at about 30 gigs, and as of right now it's only 25 gigs. Even Age of Conan didn't push past 30 gigs either. It's not exactly surprising though. Sony requires double the necessary file size for any of its PSN-downloaded titlse (Ni No Kuni requires almost 50 gigs free to download its 22gig file for instance). So I also very much doubt that this is the actual size of the file (and thus pretty much unnecessary reporting). If it was, it would be well beyond the capacity of any persons interest, as that represents an investment far, far beyond what anyone sane would be willing to give.
Jesus! I have never had a game hit the 25GB mark! Hell the highest I have ever hit for a Steam Download is 20GB and that was Fear 1. Only because it forces you to download the two standalone Expansions with it. That is right STANDALONE. So you are basically forced to download the engine, all the models and textures and gameplay 3 times. I refuse to believe this game needs 50Gb. I have seen other minimum requirements that say way more then the game actually uses. This will probably be the case here.
Yeahhhh nup. No way it's gonna be this big. Actually...maybe the SP+MP it could wing it. Wasn't it like 30gbs for Black Ops 2? I don't believe the recommended specs. The 780 is a fucking tank of a card, no way will Ghosts use that for 'recommended' settings.
Boy I wish I had your internet. With mine...50gb would take about a month? If speeds are steady CONSTANTLY, then 3 days. But its never steady.
At home I get 11mb/s, Uni is 24mb/s and my uncles house is 15mb/s.
The extensive COD campaign which all players know and love.
That interactive smoke better be as cool as they said it was!
The AI now calls you a faggot if you are playing offline (to simulate the Xbox Live community). That takes up a lot of space.
...and you people wonder why I'd rather have PHYSICAL copies of my games? Americans just don't have that fast of net, at least I never have.
780 is recommended?! I wish i knew what that entailed. I personally think recommended should be everything maxed 1080 no dips below 30fps. Cause honestly a 780(essentially a titan) should run it 2600x1600 maxed out in 3d... 50gb is no biggie a ton of games nodays are well over 20+ so thats not surprising. Still scratching my head at the 780 thing though.
With mine... well let's just say I envy your internet. I have physical PC games I can't currently play because they include a large mandatory download.
That gave me a hearty chuckle! Thanks. I wonder if they'll include mid-war AI teabagging capabilities.
No problem man, I like making people laugh :D
