Tiger Woods Is Negotiating with Another Videogame Publisher

Tiger Woods - Frustration Main

Mark Steinberg, Tiger Woods' agent, says he's talking to another publisher about Tiger's future in videogames.

Yesterday, Electronic Arts decided to end its 15-year relationship with Tiger Woods, but this doesn't mean that the red-shirted golfer has been banished from videogames. Today, Mark Steinberg, Woods' agent, revealed that he is currently talking to another publisher about relicensing Tiger's famous face.

"We had an incredible run," Steinberg said in an interview with ESPN. "Outside of [John] Madden, you would be hard pressed to find a sports figure that meant as much to a video game company as Tiger meant to EA. But times are changing and EA had to re-evaluate the partnership, and frankly so did we."

Steinberg and Woods are keeping quiet about who might be interested in developing a new Tiger Woods game, but 2K Sports would be the obvious choice. Tiger was the most dominant player in professional golf during the 2013 season, so his name obviously still carries some weight. And a Tiger-branded game might be just what 2K needs to elbow its way into the golf market.

Of course, all of this is dependent on whether or not Tiger can manage to keep winning games and stay out of the news.

I still want a hooker minigame, how hard is that to add in?

Will there be a minigame where Tiger plays with his 9-wood?

Wonder how much it had to do with the scandal that seem to follow this guy now...

Go tiger.
Best golfer ever*

*at least at getting me to actually listen when someone mentions something about golf

Must... resist... making joke... relating this... to Tiger... and mistresses...
I guess Tiger just can't be tied down to any one developer.

From what I've heard, Tiger may not have much time in the Sun left. That's probably one reason EA has chosen not to renew it. While I suspect that Tiger has a few more years of relevance left in him, I think he'll start dropping in the rankings sooner rather than later. So whoever he signs with will probably want to have a fairly short deal. Three to five years, I would say.

Tiger is still among the all time best golfers, though. And one of, if not the, best golfer currently playing.

Now we might finally get a golfing game that doesn't require insane accuracy using an inherently imprecise motion.

I just want a golf game with a driving range mini-game that lets you aim at the guy collecting the balls. Make that and Links 2004 will drop from the number 1 spot.

Nah he is not going to 2k, Rockstar is signing him up. After including a bunch of sports in GTAV, now they decided to just separate those sections into their own games. Rockstar Games presents Golf: Tiger Woods edition. After their foray into table tennis game earlier this generation this is not the most unlikely thing!
