Grumpy Cat Gets a Fitting Casting in Lifetime's Live Action Movie

Grumpy Cat Worst Christmas Ever

Parks and Recreation actress Aubrey Plaza will voice Grumpy Cat in Lifetime's Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever.

Lifetime has found its voice for the famous Grumpy Cat in an upcoming Lifetime TV movie called Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever. Aubrey Plaza, known for frequently playing apathetic and deadpan characters, will voice the cat that became an internet meme.

The casting for Plaza, who has played unenthusiastic intern April Ludgate on Parks and Recreation and Eska in Legend of Korra, comes after Jane Lynch (Glee) turned down the offer last month.

Grumpy Cat, whose real name is Tardar Sauce, hit the internet in 2012 and became viral, even making appearances on TV. Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever is a TV movie about a cat who lived in a mall's pet shop where no one would adopt her until a 12-year-old girl named Chrystal finds her. Chrystal discovers she can hear Grumpy Cat talk, but she's the only one who can hear it. Grumpy Cat ends up reluctantly stopping a kidnapping of a dog - naturally whom she hates - during the holidays and rescues Chrystal after the mall's closing time.

Tardar Sauce plays the role of Grumpy Cat in the movie.

The movie will premiere on November 29 at 8 p.m. ET.

That has to be the dumbest plot ever... but... i probably will end up watching it for the sake of Tardar Sauce.

I wake up, go on the internet five minutes.

Aaaand I've had enough internet for the day.

I hope Aubrey at least does a super good job with this.

I still can believe this movie is actually happening. It's all a bit surreal.

Voiced by Eska...

Don't make me want to watch this universe... please...

Dammit, Grumpy Cat movie. Don't try to hook me with Aubrey Plaza. STOP IT

How is it that Grumpy Cat has a movie, when Creationist Cat does not! He's da Lord's freakin' chosen cat, FFS! And he can voice himself!

I never understood grumpy cat's rise to fame... any cat owner will tell you all cats look grumpy from a certain angle.

That has to be the dumbest plot ever... but... i probably will end up watching it for the sake of Tardar Sauce.

more dumb then those stupid Fred guy from youtube who got like... 3 Nick movies? I mean seriously WTF was that. I'm surprised pewdiepie hasn't had a dozen movies made of him... or has he...*shudders*.

I think its pretty neat, grumpy cat is just a modern day Garfield.

On the one hand, I want to see this. I really, really do.
On the other, it's a Lifetime movie. I don't know how, but they're certainly gonna try shoehorning in something about a husband abusing his wife...

I would have picked Paget Brewster, from Dan vs.

How long til the "Foodfight!" style mash-up with all the internet memes?

I know.... I don't want to watch this trash but I might, help me please. D:

OT: This could be so dumb it'll either be awesome or I'll drown my memories of it in cheap bathtub booze.

OK, for now noted: The Internet has gone too far. @_x

Well it doesn't sound worse than most of the crap I see on tv.

I don't really care, in other words. Seems like a totally boilerplate script for a totally unremarkable movie.

Hey guys, when the plot of your movie is pretty much the same as the Garfield movie, STOP WRITING IMMEDIATELY

Bill Murray's gonna get fucking flashbacks if he sees this

Why not make a movie out of the much more inspirational and adorable, like Lil Bub?

"BUB is a "perma-kitten", which means she will stay kitten sized and maintain kitten-like features her entire life. She is also a dwarf, which means her limbs are disproportionately small relative to the rest of her body. She has very short, stubby legs and a weird, long, serpent-like body. Her lower jaw is very short compared to her upper jaw, and her teeth never grew in (yes, that's right, she's toothless!), which is why her tongue is usually hanging out. Don't worry, BUB has a very healthy appetite and eats dry and wet food with no problems. Additionally, BUB is a polydactyl cat, meaning she has extra toes, and in her case, one extra toe on all of her four paws. Her front paws each have two opposable thumbs. And then of course there are her big, bulging, wonder-filled green eyes. Some think she can see into the future with those things.

BUB squonks, squeaks, gurgles, snorts, hiccups, purrs and sometimes even growls. She also occasionally meows, but even those sound kinda funny.

Despite her weird looks and numerous "deformities", BUB is a healthy, happy cat. She may not be able to jump on and off stuff, but she manages by climbing using her 22 claws. She also can't quite run or walk very well... but she is a fantastic waddler. Even though she has no teeth, she has a fierce appetite, and can take down half of a bowl of dry food without any problems (the other half winds up scattered on the floor). Just like other cats, she poops and pees in the litter box, likes to chase bugs and is always cleaning her luxurious coat and sometimes even her dude's beard."

what? Okay, this time I'm going against my better judgement and calling it now. This movie will be hilarious, a tour de force and will sweep the Golden Globes.

So I read that this meme is getting it's own movie, then I read the plot. My facial expression was the same as the cats.

I just want everyone to know that I am terrible human being because I kind of want to see this.

I am so sorry.

Premiering on my BIRTHDAY?! Holy shit! Now I gotta watch it... It better be better than that movie Jinxed that premiered last year on my birthday...

Other than that, glad to see Grumpy Cat play herself in this movie instead of some [cheap] look-alike...

Funny, I would've pictured Grumpy Cat sounding a little more butch, despite being female.

Live Action Movie? Since when Grumpy Cat has more action than laying down and occasionally looking at the camera?

I think this cat should had its movie first:
