Bethesda Will Host Its First Ever E3 Press Conference This Year

Fallout New Vegas - Large Weapon

Fallout 4 or GTFO.

Fallout fans have been searching and searching for even the faintest hints of a new title ever since New Vegas was released in 2010. Now, they may finally have their biggest hint yet. This year, at the E3 expo in June, Bethesda will, for the first time ever, join the likes of Sony and Microsoft in holding an official E3 press conference.

As Bethesda has never hosted an E3 presser before, we can safety assume that some kind of major announcement will be made at the event. Many fans, myself included, hope that the company will finally draw the curtain on Fallout 4, although more information on the studio's recently announced Doom reboot may be more likely. We can also probably expect the company to talk about Battlecry.

Bethesda's press conference will fall on Sunday, June 14, which comes one day ahead of Microsoft's traditional opening press conference. Microsoft's Monday conference is usually followed by EA, Ubisoft, and Sony media briefings on the same day, while Nintendo has these days opted for "Nintendo Direct" digital events over traditional press conferences.

Bethesda did not offer any hints on what it's press conference will be about, and will probably remain quite tight-lipped until the actual event.

Best tagline I've seen in a while

Heres to the Fallout movie! Oh wait! I mean Fallout 4......

DOOM reboot... can we get this one right this time?

New IP? Fallout Online! Its free to play, pay to win with plenty of stuff to buy!!!11

I try not to do image responses but come on...we're all thinkin it...

From what I gather around here I feel about Bethesda the same way people talk about BioWare. I have been burned by so many of their products I just can't get excited anymore. If they do talk about an upcoming Fallout game I will follow the game and might buy it six months or more after release to make sure I get a version that works.

As far as what I am expecting I am expecting them to talk about the reboot of Doom, Battlecry, and announce something new weather it be a game or a partnership I am unsure.

ugghhh no NO! no...

I get excited but then I remember Fallout New Vegas was developed by Obsidian...not Bethesda

then I remember Skyrim

then I sigh....

*hype*
Bethesda announces today that it is going out of business...foerever...

Ha ha probably not I would hate to deal with the fallout from that announcement

But i am acctually super interested and am firmly aboard the hype train.

Fallout 4 would be amazing and all, but, well...

'The Elder Scrolls VI: Black Marsh' just has such a damn nice ring to it, you know?

whatever it is if it's on the same engine (again) i'm not buying it.

they've been using Gamebyro since Morrowind...and its a turd...

I had a 97 hour Fallout 3 save that was corrupted by a patch.

...ouch...

its not so much that (NV was bugyer) its just I really don't like the Bethesda's *99% of everything is filler* approach to RPG's

Certainly sounds enticing to me! I've never been a huge Fallout fan, myself...but hey, I wish all my Fallout-loving brethren the best of luck, because despite how much I'd love a new Elder Scrolls, I'm pretty sure it's out of rotation and if anything it's Fallout's turn for another game. It's only been 3 years since the last Elder Scrolls...well, the last REAL Elder Scrolls, anyways. And it's generally on a 4-5 year cycle.

Still, a man can dream...a man can dream...

..........though personally I hope the next one is in Elsweyr. I want the land to be overrun by crazy cat people. =3

*crosses fingers*

Please be Fallout 4, please be Fallout 4, PLEASE be Fallout 4...

Eh, seems like it could be interesting but i'm hedging my bets more on 'The Elder Scrolls VI: AKAVIRI'...mainly due to the dragons returning and (i'm a bit rusty with the lore so bear with me) wasn't their most notable invasion caused by their need/want for a dragonborn? Plus, it would give the Empire and the Dominion a reason to try and counter-invade, mostly for resources for the next Great War. Also, OBLIVION gives me reason to suspect that they won't be able to resist the 'steath' reference with Akaviri and VI.

Still, i'll be cool with it either way, just my guess as to where we are going next.

High Fantasy stories have stagnated since Tolkien and D&D, are riddled with cliches and are pretty boring as a whole, even (perhaps, especially) Elder Scrolls - so I'm not looking forward to any announcements on that front.

Fallout 4 New York please? Fallout 3 was amazing, but pre-alpha Fallout 3 sounded so much better.

The Doom Remake also sounds like an interesting idea. I wonder if they're going old school revitalization, horror, or what?

One of the last remaining developers to create both immersive and massive open worlds. I'll still board the hype-train, just don't go the way of GSC Gameworld!

Since the Doom Reboot has already been announced, I expect to see either a Fallout 4 or Elder Scrolls VI announcement (Hopefully the former).

MY GUESS brand new franchise and a an announcement on if it'll be Elder Scrolls or Fallout next out the gate. I think they should let Obsidian handle FO from now on since they understood how to make it more less mad max and more fallout. If it isn't a brand new franchise then they are wasting their money on announcing games everyone will be excited for anyway. If it is a new franchise i saaaay it'll be...
::shakes magic eight ball::
A SCIFI OPEN WORLD GAME WITH HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF WASTED POTENTIAL!!
...magic eight ball that game already came out
::shakes again::
Oh it'll be modder friendly which will save it from harsher criticism since the modding fan base will make it worth playing... and
::shakes again::
There will be many nude mods. Magic eight ball that's dirty...

It's kind of "obvious" what games will be shown, should they be shown, the bigger surprise would be if they weren't at the event.

Fallout 4, it's about time for BGS' new game. Rumored for years, the devs doing research on Boston, a "leaked script", 4 years since the studios last big project. Maybe they'll finally have an engine that isn't complete shit.

Doom remake, I guess we'll finally see that super awesome trailer they refused to show everybody for some reason. Supposedly took ideas from Brutal Doom, so that sounds great.

Battle Cry, who cares. Most interesting thing about it is that some of the art straight up uses the likenesses of famous people.

The Evil Within dlc, that thing had a season pass, which most people completely forgot about, probably because the game was mediocre. It might actually explain what the hell is up with the plot.

Dishonored 2, the thing is set to come out in 2016, and it had an internal presentation at E3 2014. Personally, the thing I'm looking forward the most to.

The Elder Scrolls Online, it's going free to play and the PS4/Xbone versions come out a week before. One last reminder that that game exists and is out on new platforms.

All of these are pretty safe bets.

Also, I can see them porting Skyrim to this gen, because why not. I really hope that doesn't happen.

Mike Richards:

I dunno... An entire map of swamp might get a little boring. I guess they could find a way to vary it though. I'm guess they'll go to Hammerfell next. Personally, I'd love to see them take it to Akavir.

OT: I'm actually kind of excited for this. Even though these press conferences are usually pretty boring, I think I might enjoy this one simply because I've loved every game Bethesda has developed (every game that I've played anyway). The stuff they publish can be hit or miss, but at least the games are usually somewhat unique. I wonder if they'll announce a sequel to Dishonored.

figment of mind:

I don't think we really know what the exact motives behind the Akaviri conquest were. You could be right though since after Reman Cyrodiil dealt them a crushing defeat, they recognized him as Dragonborn and bent the knee. That is how the blades originated and why their equipment is influenced by the Akaviri even during the events of Skyrim.

They are going to announce that elder scrolls online will be going free to play.

I WANT FALLOUT4

Hopefully we will get confirmation of a new Fallout game, seems a little early for a new Elder Scrolls, though I would be delighted if a new Elder Scrolls was announced, considering going back and playing Skyrim again.

Probably something about ESO as well, with it dropping its sub requirement.

Hey, the best time to announce going f2p 3 months after you've gone f2p, there's no arguing that. Wouldn't shock me if they actually treated the whole thing like that.

I mean real f2p as in you don't have to buy the game first.

ESO is going all WoW with expansions and every new Elder Scrolls from here on out will exist within it. Mark my words.

Chaosian:

I don't know, but I greatly hope it's something that is along the same lines as Doom 3. That game was absolutely brilliant and the best in the series thus far, no contest. It was creepy, had an interesting story and characters, and full of atmosphere while still retaining it's action game roots at the same time, it's basically what Dead Space tried and failed to be. I will be VERY disappointed if they do go back to the bland pure action shooter that Doom started with as the article linked here claims, if I wanted that I'd just play Ultimate Doom or Doom 2 again, or Quake, Serious Sam, or any of the other 50 similar shooters out there.

I'd rather they announce that they're bringing on the TESR team working on Skywind as full time employees to create all future Elder Scrolls games. That team has talent. But alas, I know that would never happen.

Don't worry. If you own a copy of Skywind and a copy of Morrowind on Steam then you can look forward to what is shaping up to be the finest Elder Scrolls experience to date. For FREE!

If anything they announce there holds my attention for more than three seconds, I will consider it a resounding success. The doom reboot won't. ESO going f2p won't. If it's the Dunmer liberating Morrowind from the Argonian and Wood Elf invasion, I might raise an eyebrow. Fallout 4 might get an interested "Hmm." if it's set in Australia.

Announcing they will be using a more stable game engine would do it just fine.

I'm seeing all these fans getting their hopes up for Fallout 4, and yet my gut feeling is that Bethesda has jumped on the MMO boat so hard that they'll just announce more content for Elder Scrolls Online, unaware how this will just create a huge backlash of disappointment. I could not care less about that MMO than I already do.

Prove that gut feeling wrong, Bethesda.

After that Survivor 2299 hoax, or whatever it was called, I've prepared for disappointment on the Fallout front, but even if there's no news there's bound to be something of interest there. Doom news or a Dishonoured sequel, maybe?

Fingers crossed for Fallout 4 with drivable vehicles. I want to go on a postapocalyptic road trip - just me, a couple of companions and a trunk full of loot.

Vault101:
No! Nooooooo!

Fallout: Tower Defense.

OT: News of the wasteland, please. Kthxbai.

If they hired the guy who made Falskaar, they won't be overlooking the Skywinders.

i was going to comment about yeah thats Fallout 4 alright and then that tagline. it just stopped my entire train of though.

Though considering whats happening with all other games of this type, yeah, The Fallout Online is coming.

Mike Richards:

Oh i have no doubt TES 6 is in the works, the question is only if they are going to announce it yet considering TESO failure.

Sleekit:

Didnt they made a new engine for Skyrim?
Yes, yes they did. and they got rid of that awful SpeedTree too!

Though the Creation Engine is not great either sadly. Its physics are locked to framerate which means all those fun "objects fly at random" in skyrim. not to mention numerous other "funny" bugs. but at least it works.

LetsNotPlease:
ESO is going all WoW with expansions and every new Elder Scrolls from here on out will exist within it. Mark my words.

No! The nightmares! you bastard!

Skyrim does not run on a new engine that was mostly PR.

it runs on an incremental improvement of Gamebyro.

as does every other Bethesda open world game.

i have modded on 3 different versions of it now (albeit in a small private way) and i'm familiar with that engines quirks, settings, console, files, modding tools etc and i'm telling you, despite what Bethesda say its the same engine underneath.

the fact you get many of the same bugs should kinda flag that fact.

you can ofc not take my word for it but if you ask someone else that's done similar stuff they'll tell you just the same.

Bethesda bought id for id tech 6 (because they're still using Gamebyro and it's a turd imo) which was supposed to do vast scale outdoor open world stuff which no id engine has really done up until now...smart buy y'see as all their big games are that kind of game...then Carmack left for Oculus Rift (imo due to the fact Bethesda came in hard against open sourcing id engines after the initial licensing period which really runs against Johns open source sensibilities) taking most of id tech 6 still in his head...and Bethesda actually tried to sue him for this...

anyway now they don't get an id tech 6

oh there will one and it will have that name but it won't be "id tech" because its not Carmack.

which leaves the question what the fuck will it be ?

if it's just another incremental lie like the "Creation Engine" then i'm disinclined to buy it.

Well, I'm a Bethesda fanboy. Their games aren't perfect but I've always liked getting lost in their giant worlds and having my own story.
Elder Scrolls online wasn't made by them, so I doubt they'll talk about it.
Elder Scrolls akaVIri sounds fun, But i'd prefer it setting be the summerset isles, more thalmor to kill.
Fallout 4 I wish for, obviously, but I hope the lesson is learned from ESO and they not make it an MMO.

Bigger picture; Positive: this E3 finally has something I care about. Negative: Bethesda might become one of the hype-train developers.
