WWE 2K16 Will Not Include Hulk Hogan

2K has confirmed that Hulk Hogan will not appear in the upcoming game WWE 2K16.

Professional wrestler Terry Bollea, known to his fans as Hulk Hogan, has parted ways with World Wrestling Entertainment following the publishing of a leaked transcript of a conversation in which he allegedly used racial slurs and referred to himself as a racist. The transcript, which was part of a sealed deposition, is said to have come from a video filmed without Hogan's knowledge following a sexual encounter with a friend's wife.

Hogan is no longer listed on the WWE Hall of Fame page and all merchandise related to him has been removed from WWE's online shop. It also has now been confirmed by a representative of 2K that Hogan will not be appearing in WWE 2K16.

"We are highly respectful of the way that our partners choose to run their business and manage our partnerships accordingly," a spokesperson wrote in a statement to IGN today. "We can confirm that Hulk Hogan will not appear in WWE 2K16."

Just yesterday wrestlinginc.com reported on a Gamestop Italy leak that confirmed Hogan as one of the over 120 playable characters for the game, which is scheduled to release on October 27.

Hogan released the following apology to People magazine: "Eight years ago I used offensive language during a conversation. It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language; there is no excuse for it; and I apologize for having done it. This is not who I am. I believe very strongly that every person in the world is important and should not be treated differently based on race, gender, orientation, religious beliefs or otherwise. I am disappointed with myself that I used language that is offensive and inconsistent with my own beliefs."

WWE released the following statement: "WWE terminated its contract with Terry Bollea (a.k.a. Hulk Hogan). WWE is committed to embracing and celebrating individuals from all backgrounds as demonstrated by the diversity of our employees, performers and fans worldwide."

The Hulkster done fucked up royally. In this day and age, you really have to watch your words if you're any type of famous because there's always the chance that your conversations are recorded by someone.
But still, Hulk screwed Hulk.

I just love holding people to mistakes made 8 years in the past, in entirely irrelevant situations that have nothing to do with aspects of his present life.

But I do not know Hulk personally, nor do I care about his personal life/opinions/ideologies - so I digress entirely.

Really? Punishing someone because of something they did eight years ago?

Well at least there won't be any more shitty NWO reunions.

Really obvious that Gawker leaked this as revenge for Hogan's trial

People get hurt over words way too easily, they need to include him in that game and apologize to him for firing him for something so stupid.

The man did his time, and retired. What he says and does in his own time, now that he's not part of the company is none of ANYONE's business.

That being aid, I don't give the remotest fuck
Will I be able to create a wrestler again? With custom music? And make Divas?
And holy shit, let me let women fight men again. I don't play WWE for the amazing wrestlers
I play it to make Zangeif beat the ever loving hell out of Justin Beiber.
Edit: Wait, HE was unknowingly filmed? And that's where they got this? Shouldn't the FRIEND and possibly the wife be in JAIL? And everything else thrown out?

Eight years ago thou......EIGHT. Who cares ? in his personal time ? secrectly recorded ? I dont give a shit about Hulk, even when i was kid watching wcw/wwf i thought he was shit. But abit shit for he simply said 8 years ago to bite him in the ass this bad. Not like he killed a guy. Oh he said some shit 8 years ago ? what an asshole. Done why does shit get blown out like this i dont get it.

Wait wait wait! Are you saying roided-out macho man from a "sport" watched primarily by white rednecks has racist tendencies?!
Well fuck, next you'll be saying that about NASCAR fans and Klan members.

Okay, I have no love for Hulk Hogan, if anything, I find this kinda funny, but it's still bullshit, firing a man for a recording of a private conversation had eight years prior? that is bullshit by anyone's standards.

as for him not being in the game, I don't care, as long as we get the comprehensive creation system that was in EVERY game but the previous one again, I never used the wrestlers the came with the game

The new norm, someone's life, career and legacy destroyed by a few misguided words, said privately and in anger. God Bless the New World.

And nearly a decade ago. I'm not a wrestling fan, and so don't plan to buy the game, but still this is utter bullshit. I heard my friend and his brother talking about this yesterday, but I couldn't make out what the issue was. Now I know.

And it is only going to get worse, unfortunately.

Hey, Vince McMahon said "nigga" on TV once. Can we get him fired and erased from WWE now?

The idea that this is somehow new is more the illusion of recency tan any change in the world.

You all are acting like the WWE fired him over a moral outrage, apparently they heard about what Hogan had said and knew it was going to be leaked and didn't want to be held responsible for his actions during a time he wasn't with the company. Before this broke Hogan was still being used as a marketing tool by the WWE and was a part of their reality show Tough Enough as a judge, the WWE simply wanted to save face especially during a time when the company is trying to broaden its appeal and break the stigmas previously held about pro-wrestling. I'd imagine after this blows over and everyone forgets about it Hogan will be hired again and have his geriatric ass pushed on stage to promote the company.

I don't agree with firing a man for a conversation he thought was private especially 8 years after the fact, however I can see WWE's side of not wanting to deal with Hogan's dirty laundry especially with the number of talent they have who are black and who have been very hurt by a man they felt was a friend to them.

Obvious they would do that... but what I really want to know is if they are going to benoit him then who gets his achievements? Will the legendary Vacant claim them? Or will it be Sheiky baby?

Well I will say one person who will be happy with this... Triple H. Before he couldn't really be on the "WWE Mount Rushmore" of wrestling as Hogan, Austin, Rock, and Cena couldn't exactly be removed. Now with Hogan gone he can essentially be inserted in.

Classy.

Might as well be consistent and give it to Brock Lesnar.

Zachary Amaranth:

Careful now. If Triple H hears some people are putting Brock above him now that Hogan is out of the way he might decide it's time he gets back in the ring and stop the Beast because he is The Game, the Cerebral Assassin, the ultimate Arsekicker, the King of Kings, the only diamond in this business, and so on (though the real reason is because in RL he now truly is the Connecticut Blue Blood).

He gets fired for saying something in the past and politicians keep on lying to get elected regardless if it's racist or not and they keep on getting reelected.

As a wrestling fan all I can say is this.

Fuckin finally.

Hulk Hogan undoubtedly did amazing things for helping wrestling go mainstream, but he was a shitstain of a human being. I'm just sad it took so long for it to come back and bite him in the ass.

Excuse me while I point and laugh at him now.

Pretty much this. Hogan wasn't a quietly retired dude who got this dropped on his head randomly, he was still working for and representing the company in a public function in various ways. The WWE does many things I'm not exactly okay with, but in this case I can somewhat understand them. Someone in your company causes widespread media outrage due to discriminatory remarks? Damage control time.

Whether we should judge the guy for something he said nearly a decade ago in the privacy of his own home is another matter entirely, thhough.

Ah, great. Comparing wrestling fans to Klan members. That's a good way to prove a point there, mate.

The WWE are such a bunch of bitches, Christ. They probably all start sweating profusely whenever anybody mentions Chris Benoit within a kilometer of them.
So what if Hulk Hogan said some mean things?

I'll eat my hat if Gawker isn't responsible for leaking this.

Don't you just love how they say "Offensive language and slurs" without ever saying exactly what was said? Thus allowing everyone to assume the worst, some kind of hate-filled screed, thus guaranteeing all the twitter trolls and the easily offended will riot when it could have been a stupid, out of context joke. But we can't know so we cant make a reasonable judgement.

I'm getting sick and tired of seeing things presented this way

To put your mind at ease, this is (one of) the thing that got his ass shitcanned.

I don't know if Brooke was f***ing the black guy's son.

I mean, I don't have double standards. I mean, I am a racist, to a point, f***ing n****s. But then when it comes to nice people and s***, and whatever.

I mean, I'd rather if she was going to f*** some n*****, I'd rather have her marry an 8-foot-tall n***** worth a hundred million dollars! Like a basketball player!

Its no all mexicans are rapists and murderers, but its definitely in the "this shit is racist as fuck" camp.

They're a publicly traded company. Shit like this can (and does) tank stock prices. You can bet if they hadn't shitcanned him then the stock price would have gone even further down than it did.

And yes, they probably do sweat about the Christ Benoit stuff because it, much like all the lawsuits the NFL faces, is a huge black mark showing the really ugly side of professional wrestling.

This is how Vince McMahon operates. You anger him or shame the company, you are an un-person. If you're an active wrestler who says or does something Vince doesn't like, you will be de-pushed and written off TV or given a comedy gimmick for the sole purpose of mocking you. Vince is a spiteful, self-centered prick and don't you forget it.

That said, I'm not letting Hogan off the hook just yet either. I remember the sabotaged storylines and pushes, all in the name of feeding Hogan's bank account and ego.

Hogan never seemed to be a very nice person, but to get erased from WWE for comments made in private, recorded without permission...8 years ago..quite excessive. I could understand (though not support) suspending current projects or contracts, but not scrubbing his entire legacy. Also, one should not forget that Mike Tyson - a convicted rapist - gets to be in the WWE hall of fame.

Silentpony:

Would not have expected a person with a cartoon horse avatar of all things to be so prone to generalizing fandoms based on their most negative stereotypes. And that KKK mention...truly classy.

I wonder if they are going to go full Benoit and delete all uploaded create-a-guy Hulkalikes too.

There can only be one Macho Man. And he is the 'cream of the crop', as said by himself.

Damnit I freakin' love the Macho Man.

Nah, Hunter'll never be a true blue blood. CT is too elite. Fair enough on not forcing him out of retirement. Hell, let's make up some more awards and titles just to be safe.

You're assuming they'll let us create characters again.

Then why didn't you post something for context? Did you actually look it up before complaining? It was pretty easy to find stuff even before it was posted here.

Wuvlycuddles:

Oh man, if they remove the option for me to use a leg drop finisher, I will scream "censorship" for all I'm worth.

Dapper Changeling:

I'm not sure they could afford the hit to business. If you can't play as "generic army guy" online, what's the point?

Even WWE's real world decisions don't make sense.

Are you against voting with your wallet?

Even though wrestling aint my bag, Hulk was a prominent childhood memory (what films?? Never happened! *sticks fingers in ears* ladedala)and this gives me a few mixed emotions. Understandably, WWE want to maintain as family friendly image as possible, they must have noticed how damaging internet outrage can be and decided not to risk that bag o' bombs.
It is hard to tell if his apology is sincere, but 8 years have gone by and i would have thought he'd slip up along there somewhere if he maintained such negative views. Hell, a lot of my older family hold racist views, but I dont judge them for it as it appears the norm for older generations here.

Zachary Amaranth:

Are you against voting with your wallet?

Yes. Voting with wallets has gotten us to where we are today (shitty homogenized video games, movies, books, foods) at the top of the commercial ladder and creativity as well as artists standing up for themselves at the straight bottom.
