Steam To Get Steamy With an Uncensored Yuri Game - Update Pages 1 2 3 NEXT
Steam To Get Steamy With an Uncensored Yuri Game - Update ![]() Adult visual novel Kindred Spirits on the Roof is making its way to Steam - and nothing is being left out. Update: A Twitter user identifying themselves as Kindred Spirits' translator has stated on Twitter that "the sexy scenes make up less than 5% of the script." They also wrote: "Yes, I would say sex is an important part of the game, but the focus is more on the relationships of 7 different couples (living and dead!) There isn't a ton of sexual content and I wouldn't call it "gratuitous," but it is sort of at the core of the story." Original Story:Steam may not be your go-to spot for sexy titles - mainly because the platform has frequently censored titles that depict sex(example). But that may soon be changing. Japanator has shared the story of Kindred Spirits on the Roof, the adult visual novel from Liar Soft who annouced on MangaGamer that the title will release on Steam with zero censorship. "It's great to see our years of effort finally paying off as visual novels containing adult content gain more mainstream acceptance and recognition as a valuable medium for artistic expression," head translator Kouryuu wrote. "This is monumental news for the industry as a whole. Everything will be open and up-front with this release; no off-site patch or workarounds. Kindred Spirits will be sold on Steam completely uncensored." According to the Kindred Spirits MangaGamer Page, the title features a schoolgirl, Toomi Yuna, who encounters two ghosts that met on the roof of the Kokonotsuboshi Girls' Academy of Commerce, fell in love, and desperately want to experience their "first time" with one another - only they don't know how. "The two who are bound to the site of the school enlist Yuna to help them create more "yuri" couples at the school so that they can glean some sexual insight from observing them, and to assist the girls struggling with their hidden feelings." Kouryuu wrote "Seeing frank depictions of same-sex relationships welcomed on such a major gaming platform is a true testament to the open-mindedness of our society and the growing desire for mature entertainment that people of all walks of life can enjoy." I may get this because I'm a sucker for cheap romance. Yeah, that explanation didn't work when I tried to explain why I had Katawa Shoujo either.
I don't know whether to be happy or disappointed. This just seems like one of the moves Gabe needs to make in order to compete this his fears of Windows 8 & 10. Which also means other online stores that rely on Adult PC Games are about to get less future customers.
*Gasp* - I knew this day would come. I hope GabeN-sama's clouded tower of sorcery casts its healthy magic on my enchanted forest, that the future descendants of my line will be peerless and strong. Humans. Is there a single thing they won't masturbate to? Sure, bring on the interactive jazz mags. This is going to be sensational.
Got a release date yet? | |
que fox news in 3....2....1....
Hm, I hope they start allowing things besides Yuri on Steam. I would love to see some heterosexual or Yaoi games come to steam as well.
B.. But that's forbidden love!
| |
Don't get your hopes up . They said nothing would be cut out but that doesn't exactly say what was in the game to begin with. It says Same sex relationships, but as said.. could just be a clever marketing play on words. Last I checked even in japan these games typically required a fair amount of censorship. what with mosaics and all.
I don't know what the contents of this game are in detail, but as the only thing with uncensored sex or other acts on Steam, will this be an instant hit?
this looks like one of those VN's where the focus is more on the story and its characters so at the end of the day the "adult scenes" if you want to call them that will probably be a softcore reward for completing a certain path still I'll probably get this since I'm a sucker for yuri VN's
I'm not sure how to feel about this. On one had, I'd never play the game anyway so what do I care?
A bit of googling, I was able to find some screenshots of the game: Judging by this, there will be uncensored breasts, and careful framing to avoid visible genitalia. Could be more, though, hard to say just by a few screenshots. P.S. Thanks
It doesn't sound like an actual Hentai game, so there's probably little to censor anyway. Still, it's always good to see progress.
So this thing is "Yuri Shipping: The Game"? Why have I not heard of it before?
Hmm. Mixed feelings. On the one hand, I'm all for Steam opening itself up to more mature content. But then, it's already a dumping ground for cheap, shoddy titles. Do we really need a massive influx of pornography? Even if that's not what this game is, it could certainly open up the flood gate. As long as they maintain some standards, I guess this could be a positive change. Censored or uncensored, I won't be purchasing it, though. Ugh.
I'm a bit ..... concerned as to how they can call this an "adult title" when the main focus in on schoolgirls at a school. Ya, that's not adult at all; it's children. Not sure their age, but the images provided estimate around the 14yr old group, give or take a few years. Does that really need to be showing excessive "sex scenes" (which yes, as the link provided by Covarr does show such)? Why can't the game expand upon the relationships and feeling of these individuals without going into the visuals of such things? It boarders on pedophilia materials. You know, Fox news -as zindine100 joked- will catch wind of this and the title will be pulled. Even if Fox News misses it thanks to another Trump dump of nonsense, some other group will. Heck, I dare say that I might even petition such a thing. There is a huge difference between a love story and pornographic materials. When it starts to include naked images of schoolgirls as part of it's 'content', it is considered porn. Drawn or not.
Pffft, call me when a completely uncensored game about male homosexual romance with fully interactive sex scenes is released on Steam, then we'll talk about an open-minded and mature society. Still, wotevs I guess: let the people enjoy their tales of the undead perving on high-school lesbianism so that the way is cleared for *my* abhorrent and uncensored erotica on Steam.
Honestly, I'm interested. Even if it's a Yuri kind of thing, I can't seem to find any visual novels made specifically for women. Maybe I haven't been looking hard enough, but I simply can't find them. I quite enjoy visual novels, so if anyone has any suggestions for any VNs staring a female lead, be they heterosexual or otherwise, I'd be delighted to receive some recommendations.
It's not porn. It's a romance VN with erotic scenes.
Well it's yuri, moe, and on steam, so thats three of my selling points right there; hopefully its good. I find yuri romances (and few yaoi ones) oddly more compelling than straight ones, mostly because the majority of japanese writers can't make an interesting male hero/protagonist for balls. Rather than give them, y'know, depth or personality they instead give them archetypes to build their characters off of: the Noble but Awkward type, the Smug, Arrogant Prick, and the Angsty one. Say what you want about the female ones but at least they TRY to make them interesting, if for no other reason than to question the players as to why the find the protagonist desirable... well, other than him being the protagonist.
There's always Hatoful Boyfriend. I mean, the game has some other... uh, quirks, which I won't spoil for you, but it is definitely a romantic VN with a human female lead. P.S. Thanks
That's a distinction without a difference. People are still going to abuse a system that allows "adult, erotic" scenes. Ever been to Greenlight? Trust me, they'll find a way.
You know, if they're going to start putting pornographic content on Steam, they could at least stay away from underage teenagers. Bishoujo is not the be all and end all, some of us find adult women to be quite beautiful.
Crap, ninja'd. No matter, it bears repeating.
I lost it there. Just jerk off to it and stop trying to fool yourselves into thinking it's for any other reason.
Whatever. You want to get immersed in the erotic scenario but in the end you're cumming all the same.
Is the weather nice up there on your high horse? Visual novels with erotic scenes are no different than that of mainstream media in the west - Game of Thrones, hell, even the Walking Dead should be thrown out of the zeitgeist by your statement. So should a ton of literature.
I, for one, welcome our new porn game overlords. Ahem... Anyway, I don't see the issue, I honestly don't think there'd really be a problem with Steam actually selling full-on porn games as long as they just walled it off. Obviously it'd be a PR problem in the larger context, but eh.
The Witcher 3 isn't a porn game. It's an RPG with erotic scenes.
How about Yaoi too? I mean it's only fair.
Sounds a lot like Figures of Happiness, except as a yuri story. And with better artwork. Definitely a plus in my book.
I'm mainly confused because I've never associated the words "cheap" and "Katawa Shoujo" together. Unless you specifically meant the money sense.
Happily, my name is not Jim, so you don't get dinged for inaccuracy on that one.
Remember everyone: Mortal combat X is ooooooookay But fictional anime boobies? IN MY STEAM! YOU MONSTERS! Ill go back to ripping peoples spines out and holding their heads up like trophies... much more "adult" then some softcore porno pictures in a VN why thank you. Seriously people.. get your priorities straight. Everyone who feels weirded out about this should take a good close look at what is depicted in other "adult" titles. Now whats more questionable? Some anime softcore pics or getting sawed in half by a buzzsaw? Get to grips with your own sexuality and stop treating it like something everyone should be ashamed about.
Yes... yes I do. Katawa Shoujo's scenes are unfappable as all hell for me but the stories were worth reading. I don't know what Visual Novels you have played that do have erotic scenes, or even if you have, but you clearly haven't played any good ones. I could jerk off to hentai or other porn any time I want. Why click through a bunch of text for a scene that generally isn't well drawn with cheesy music and bad voice acting? I for one enjoy seeing erotica in a story about human relationships, 'cause ya know, that's a part of it. The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and literally hundreds of other novels, comics, and even fucking video games have erotica in them, yet I do not see you crying foul on them for it. Don't sit there and tell me that a Game of Thrones has erotic scenes centered around characters and story when they are just making up sex scenes that never happened in the book so they can have them on the show and Martin is randomly inserting graphically described lesbian sex scenes between two characters that made zero sense. He just wanted a scene like that. There is no illusion for you to shatter; I DO read visual novels with erotic content in them for the story - the proof of this is that I once stayed up until 7 in the morning finishing up G-Senjou no Maou, one of the best stories I have read in any medium, even though I knew there would be no more erotic scenes at all. I could care less if that grinds your gears or if you don't believe me. You've said your two-cents on the matter and it seems we'll simply have to agree to disagree. Now there are certain visual novels on the market that are sold exclusively as porn and the plot is just a vague way to get the porn out there. I don't think anyone here would ever say that they played those for the plot. There are tons of bad ones out there, and I will be the first to admit that.
I'm with ya brother! But yeah, the game sees like it could be interesting enough with or without the "porn" content.
Y-You fujoshi! H-how can you taint something so pure as a yuri thread! :P (J/K) ---- Side note, why do I get the feeling that the end of this game will be horribly bitter sweet, since two of the characters are ghosts who want to experience love. That just sets itself up for tragedy.
